Whatever way you want to cut it, ICT have more fans...and did so immediately following the merger...than the previous combined total for Caledonian and Thistle. The fanbase has grown due to the success of ICT who were allowed to follow a path which was not, at the time, open to either team individually. Had we still two Highland League teams then I very much doubt the combined total attendance for both would match current levels for ICT....that's if both clubs were even still in business.

I don't understand this "can you afford to lose 100 fans" argument....even if I was to accept that the number might be anywhere near that level. Given the choice between having 100 merger stay aways or the couple of thousand additional fans picked up since the merger then, financially, it's a no-brainer.

I agree but when the end of the season comes will he have his head turned by similar offers ?? Its also now time for the directors to ensure the team are kept together for next season regardless. No, I think by the end of the season he'll be getting better offers....but I also hope that our stock will also have increased by then and Terry will want to take us to Europe. There's plenty going on behind the scenes with player contract talks and things and I believe the Directors will be doing everything within their power to keep as much of the team together as possible.

The extent of the talks he's already had is media speculation....for all we actually know it was nothing more than a conversation to agree a time to meet. I take what the Barnsley Director is saying with a pinch of salt as he told everyone that O'Driscoll meeting was a formality....pretty much the same as he seems to be saying about Butcher....and look what happened there. Terry is forever telling players they need to finish the job here so that they can realise true potential from their next move....I think he'll apply that same logic to his own situation.

I don't think he'll be considering anything until he's spoken to them. He'd be silly not to go and have a word, especially as he's down that way spending time with family anyway, because they might make him an offer he can't refuse....financially. What I don't believe is that they have the resources to make the job lucrative enough, nor are they the "right" club to entice him away from ICT right now.

I'm not worried because I don't believe he'll be leaving for Barnsley.

All these exclusive articles are based on Twitter speculation, discussion and even some attempted wind ups. Quite entertaining in itself...especially the fact people are so quick to latch on to them the moment someone turns it into an article.

If you read some of the Barnsley forums then they talk about the current owners trying to put the club in a position to allow them to sell. Only two ways to do that....strip everything of value and then rip off the fans by selling them a shell of a club....or build the club up and catch the eye of someone looking to invest and build on that success. Barnsley aren't showing any signs of doing the latter.

Thinking about the Doncaster thing....why would they say Lomas is #1 target and then ask to speak to Butcher? Why would the club issue statement on one club and not the other? The Spidey senses are tingling and I'm going to call it as BS....or at the very least a half story which media have jumped the gun on.

Not even sure Terry is around, last I heard he was off to spend some time with the family. He's also a gent and will show due respect by giving Barnsley the chance to talk properly to him before politely declining....as much as we might all like him to just deliver a two word response!!! I'm not worried.

I'm not sure I understand your derision of Burnley. They are a big club, much bigger than ourselves. And if it's such a ludicrous idea, why has Terry not already informed Burnley of his decision and released a statement staying he is staying? I would say at the very least he is considering it. Also your point on him not being welcomed by Burnley, because of your perceived notions of hypocrisy is utter drivel. All managers preach togetherness and success as a team, does that mean no manager should ever leave if offered a better job? Remember most of us wanted TB sacked 5 months ago, he doesn't owe anyone anything. Most burnley players and fans have never heard of ICT anyway. I sincerely hope you are totally correct and know TB as well as you say you do, but I can't help but be worried. What derision? I'm an ICT fan and I think my club is a better proposition than any other....I make no apology for that. Think the word you're looking for is "speculating". Barnsley are in the process of selling some of their best players...why do that and then buy in replacements?

I thought our fans knew Terry a bit better than to seriously think he might be for the off....to Barnsley!!! He's got more about him than to walk out on a job half done, especially when we're on the verge of something special....and I believe that, regardless of the potential increase in salary. How does he move on to his next job and get the club, fans and players believing in his ethos of togetherness and achieving success as a team if he turns his back on that at ICT? He doesn't...and again I don't believe he would even consider it. Inevitable that he's going to attract interest and the club giving permission to speak means little, IMO. Terry is not the kind of person to ask the club to refuse permission on his behalf, he'll talk for himself every time. We're just going through the motions, and possibly not for the only time this month. Take a deep breath....and relax!!!!!

The club might give him permission to speak to Barnsley, but he'll still have to clear it with Rita.

What's even funnier is the fact that the news broke as "Barnsley seek permission to speak to Motherwell manager, Terry Butcher"...one of the papers who broke it are the Mirror, where Terry has a column.

Only because they have just asked for permission to speak to him....not a hope he's going to leave ICT this season, and certainly not for Barnsley.

Not sure if it's the same person, but last time I enquired to a company for an electronic copy of TCS picture they wanted hundreds of pounds!!! I'm actually just waiting on some decent weather to have some aerial video & photographs taken for the club using a radio-controlled quadcopter, but it could be a while for that.
