But the police could not know that if they hadn't searched you. For people like the police it's all about risk assessment....which boils down to ifs and buts. IF they do nothing BUT something happens, then ultimately they are accountable for their inaction. It would seem that people on this thread are trying to argue that those responsible for the increased police presence are in no way accountable and should just be left to do as they please despite breaking the law. Life doesn't work like that unfortunately.

So how should the police have dealt with things? Just pretend it never happened? Let's say the police did nothing whatsoever and someone thought it would be fun to repeat the incident on Tuesday night. Let's say that someone was struck by a flying smoke bomb and/or had a respiratory condition that was triggered off by it and (god forbid) the worst happened. We'd all be up in arms that the police, in full knowledge of a previous incident, had done nothing to prevent a repeat of it and we'd be calling for inquests, enquiries, sackings and all kinds. You can't have it all ways.

Away crowds always look small in these games....maybe fans just choose to spend all their hard earned at home to benefit own club!!!

I don't think anyone is defending the police actions....certainly not me. All I am saying is that if you do stuff that is in breach of the law...and it is against the law, whether we like it or not...then you can't then complain when there's repercussions. The police will have certain procedures they have to follow as a result of the incident...and what was seen last night was that being put into action. Not nice, not welcome and not something people will want to see on a regular basis. Best thing to do is take it on the chin, let the police procedures play out (which they have) and, especially if you're the person/s responsible for the smoke bombs, ask yourself if it was really worth it? You had your bit of fun...time to move on.

I know for a fact that no "order" came from the club on the use of any word...the club have neither the power nor the authority to tell the police to do anything and it's very much the other way round.

Fail to see your problem, if you are doing as you say then that's great and you clearly are doing your bit and are quite entitled to ask others if they are doing the same. My comment was aimed at those who are not season ticket holders, who seem to take pride in giving the club as little money as possible and spend all their time on here demanding that other people should be doing all the leg work when it comes to trying to improve crowds and waiting for the slightest reason to knock those efforts.

As I understand it, when you use covers and the USH what you end up with is a layer of condensation. When the covers are removed that then freezes and you end up with a frozen powder like "dew" on the surface. It's purely cosmetic and the pitch itself was fine.

Before asking what others are doing, perhaps people should ask themselves what they are doing.

Excellent, if he's happy to see Saturday as acceptable performance then long may it continue...one less team chasing us is fine by me.

If people put as much energy into praising the club/team when things are going well as they do in battering them when things aren't then that would be a very good start, IMO.

Was talking about this with a few people recently and the one thing that cropped up time and again was the Celtic game where he had Samaras in his pocket for most of the match....especially when you look at what he (Samaras) has been doing against "world class" defenders this season.
