  1. The draw has resulted in:
  2. Aberdeen did in the early 90s.
  3. It's a bit like ourselves with Aberdeen! I've got to confess to 'going onto' one of the Dons fans' forums last night to see how Shinnie fared. Admittedly ridiculous, as he's no longer our player! Notice all our ex-boys played last night - Shinnie, Hayes, Robson and Rooney. But Aberdeen were dreadful by all accounts.
  4. The bloke in the bottom-left certainly enjoys his pies!
  5. From today's BBC 'gossip section' : Classic misuse of grammar - perhaps it was Derek Ferguson who was dictating - as he's frequently 'guilty' of this! As is Willie Miller! The Dons are through after winning on away goals against Shkendija, but beaten manager Shpetim Duro believes the best team have went out of the competition. (Various)

You're quite right, ICTRoughi. Today, is the deadline for registering the squad, but there is provision to add one more player up to 24hrs before the first leg. Below is the relevant section in UEFA's 'handbook' for this season's competition. 'List A' apparently refers to the squad which must comprise a maximum of 25 players, 2 of whom must be goalkeepers. Doubt we've even got 25 players at this time! 42.07 List A has to be submitted by the following fixed deadlines: a. 22 June 2015 (24.00CET) for all matches in the first qualifying round; b. 10 July 2015 (24.00CET) for all matches in the second qualifying round; c. 24 July 2015 (24.00CET) for all matches in the third qualifying round; d. 10 August 2015 (24.00CET) for all matches in the play-offs; e. 1 September 2015 (24.00CET) for all further matches from the first match in the group stage up to and including the final. 42.08 For the three qualifying rounds and the play-offs, a club may register a maximum of one new eligible player on List A after the above-mentioned deadlines. Such registration must be completed by 24.00CET on the day before the relevant first-leg match and the club’s association must confirm in writing that the new player is eligible to play at domestic level at this time.

I don't think I've seen that show-reel of Dean McDonald before - the technique and strike at around 34 seconds was quite brilliant! Shows how misleading these videos can be - as he was really quite poor. I won't use the word 'rubbish'! Anyway, I read that Yogi is keen to have another look at Lopez tomorrow against St Mirren. I may be wrong but I think today (Friday 10th) is the cut-off for registering players in time for the Europa Q2 round. (probably for both legs). Not sure if JJ Hooper will also be given one final outing to show what he can do. The 'U20s' have a game tomorrow too, so I'd imagine every fit player in our whole squad will see some action 2moro. But, perhaps we shouldn't be using this game too much to look at trialists but rather set-up with effectively our strongest available team, as this is the last friendly before the Astra game.
  8. The Canadian men have a home game on Tuesday against Costa Rica in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in Toronto. Will be interesting to see the attendance at that one.
  9. Marius Niculae has not has his contract renewed at Dinamo Bucharest. Now 34, he may be contemplating retirement.
  10. Now that the dust has settled on the Q1 round, it's now official that we (or Astra) will be unseeded in the Q3 draw next Friday. This leaves us with the opportunity to be paired with a real name club. The likes of Sampdoria, Bordeaux, Southampton, West Ham United, Athletic Bilbao and Borussia Dortmund are amongst the clubs we could meet.
  11. It's not 'academic to argue' when there's clearly a right and wrong, Laurence. It's NOT an eight! The final two figures are identical - surely you can see that. If you still maintain it's an eight, then by that reasoning, you obviously paid £15.08 for your ticket. Look at both figures again on your scanned image.

No surprise. Wish him well, a top bloke and reputedly a visionary, contemporary coach, who was very much involved in championing our on-the-deck passing style. He also was apparently, all for flair-players, like himself, to be able to express themselves without necessarily having to 'conform' to the possession game and to take gambles in attacking situations. Ryan Christie, for example. has flourished under his tutorship and training-ground philosophy. Where will Russell land up at?!..... If indeed that's to be the case, and there wasn't a 'bust up'! We'll certainly be weaker on the coaching front with his departure. But good luck to Brian Rice - you've a hard act to follow!
  13. Incredibly, this technically starts tomorrow! We don't enter until the 4th Round (which is now in 'back' in its traditional January slot), but the draw for the opening stages is being held tomorrow at Hampden. Davie Moyes drawing out teams he'll never have heard of! Interestingly, no 'first time' winner has retained the trophy since the 1870s. To my knowledge, this seasons competition will have the most ever clubs with 92. And with 2 preliminary rounds scheduled, there are effectively 10 rounds of competition - again a record. In the old North of Scotland Qualifying Cup, if I remember, the 16 Highland League teams had to win two games to reach the semi-finals, and qualification to the Scottish Cup. Then (the Scottish Cup) had 4 rounds before the quarter-finals...so a total of 9 matches to win the whole thing! (sometimes even a bye in Round 1 was a possibility). But this season's marathon means that when we enter, 5 of the 10 rounds will already have been played, and 60 of the 92 clubs will have been eliminated! The 2 preliminary rounds are drawn tomorrow with the Scottish Amateur Cup winners involved for the first time - apparently a team called Harestanes from Kirkintilloch who play on a public park!
  14. This resumes on 4th August. The same 17 clubs are competing. We endured a dreadful campaign last season, finishing last! Hopefully, a year on, our youths can perform better, as I understand last season much of our team were boys who'd just come 'up' from the U17s. A couple of pre-season games soon - the first-team have St Mirren on Saturday while the 'U20s' head to Lossiemouth the same afternoon. Similarly, the following Saturday Inverness CT have a 'double header' with games at Nairn and Wick, with presumably the youths heading to Caithness.
  15. I did forget about him! Oops! Yeah, he''ll forever be remembered in ICT folklore for his part in our cup win. Although the actual final wasn't his best performance for us, he was absolutely 'key' against Celtic in the semi - with a lovely goal, too! Will be interesting to see which club he eventually joins.
  16. Big boots to fill! Our most recent no.7s have been Billy Mckay, Jonny Hayes (I think) and Barry Wilson!
  17. Yeah, they've had impressive turn-outs for their European home games over the past few seasons. They have indeed exceeded 7,000+ in 4 of their 5 games at home - and as they've a broadly similar fan base as ourselves, we should be looking at that as the benchmark. It would be a little disappointing if we had 'only' 6,000 at this historic game!
  18. Just discovered that Russell Knox is the brother of former MFR DJ 'Foxy Knoxy' !
  19. Again, there's no '8' in that time, Laurence. It's NOT an error. It's simply the default setting of 00:00 which I'm sure you've encountered on electrical appliances 'flashing' away, awaiting input to the correct time. The kick-off time hadn't been established when the tickets were printed, hence 00:00 (which is the same as 12:00 am). The last figure is a zero. Normal people don't start threads 'asking the club' what time the game starts when it can be found in numerous places, including this very website. http://caleythistleonline.com/team/fixtures.html/
  20. Tarmo Kink is back in his homeland and has joined Estonian champions, Levadia Tallinn.
  21. It doesn't even say12:08, Laurence - look again.
  22. P&J report we played a Newcastle United youth - he could be the mystery guy!?
  23. Signed until the end of next season (2016-17): • Gary Warren • Richie Foran • Greg Tansey • Josh Meekings Signed until the end of this season (2015-16): • John Hughes - Manager • Russell Latapy - Assistant Manager • Dean Brill • Aaron Doran • Danny Williams • Ryan Esson • Ryan Christie • Carl Tremarco • Ross Draper • James Vincent • David Raven • Daniel Devine • Ali Sutherland • Liam Polworth • Lewis Horner • Calum Ferguson • Cammy Mackay • Nat Wedderburn • Jason Roberts ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Development Squad players available for this season (2015-16): • Calum Howarth • Jason Brown • Jaime Wilson • Kane Hull • Struan McArthur • Blair MacLennan • Chris Brown • Stephen Rennie • Chris Blackett • Daniel Hoban (goalkeeper) • Alasdair Stark • Andrew Macrae
  24. Yeah, a year, with the club having 'an option of a further year' - (that bizarre caveat!) I assume it must mean, if he's good, we'll keep him! But it's effectively no different to say, Ross Draper, amongst others. for example....will be out-of-contract at the end if the season. Both he and Roberts may or may not be kept on - or am I missing something? But football 'contracts' are meaningless, anyway - if the price is right! Although, it's better to have players signed-up as that will ensure a transfer sum.....that said, the quality players that have left here without us ever having a fee of note is incredible.
  25. He's certainly become less 'card happy' since the SFA took-him-aside and effectively 'suspended' him. Stats: Pre 'suspension' 27 games, 99 yellows, 10 reds Post 'suspension' 22 games, 45 yellows, 7 reds His bookings record has changed remarkably! Doesn't reach for the card now so often - indeed, 45 in 22 games is just 2 a game, so I think he's got the message.
