  5. Great shout! I've altered my previous post to take the Turkish club into consideration. But the othewr clubs you mention, in my understanding, are not yet definite potential oppositions!

  8. What we know, as fact, is that we're un-seeded and will be playing any of 33 teams in our match, as there are 66 teams in the draw. (33 seeded v 33 un-seeded). With Poland and Greece finishing their seasons on Sunday, there are still some teams, as yet unknown. However, with Aberdeen and St. Johnstone in the 1st round draw, we will be kept apart from the winners of their ties, effectively meaning we only have 31 teams that we could potentially play. 24 of the 31 possibilities are, at present, winners of [(team x) v (team y)], from the 1st round. And the 'Law of averages' would suggest we'll get one of them. But there are 7 teams who will definitely be in the opposite bowl: NK Rijeka (Croatia) FC Copenhagen (Denmark) Astra (Romania) Trabzonspor (Turkey) Dinamo Minsk (Belarus) Mlada Boleslav (Czech Republic) Charleroi (Belgium) Copenhagen would be something of a glamour tie. And perhaps ICT's previous experience of a pre-season in Denmark would help with the logistics of hotels, training facilities etc.
  9. When we were knocking-on-the-door of the top-6 but again just missing out, I remember realising just how difficult an accomplishment it was - and hoped that one day we could achieve it. 5th place, and certainly 4th seemed fanciful - so to have achieved 3 consecutive top-six placings and a 3rd placed finish is extraordinary! But, to be ranked 2nd in Scotland over the past 3 seasons is insane! Not even a chat between 12th Man and Bughtmaster would have dared predict such! Total positions for the nine clubs who've contested all the SPL/Premiership seasons in the past 3 years: N.B. Interestingly, County have set a 'wee pattern' - could they be heading for 11th this season?!
  10. We mustn't lose sight of the manager's position, despite our preoccupation with securing players' contracts! I'm sure he'll be offered an extension before too long!!! Signed until the end of next season (2016-17): • Gary Warren • Richie Foran • Greg Tansey • Josh Meekings Signed until the end of this season (2015-16): • John Hughes - Manager • Russell Latapy - Assistant Manager • Dean Brill • Aaron Doran • Danny Williams • Ryan Esson • Ryan Christie • Carl Tremarco • Ross Draper • James Vincent • David Raven • Daniel Devine • Ali Sutherland • Liam Polworth • Lewis Horner • Calum Ferguson • Jason Brown (Development Squad) Out of contract: • Nick Ross • Marley Watkins • Edward Ofere • Tarmo Kink • Cammy Mackay • Jaime Wilson (Development Squad) • Kane Hull (Development Squad) • Struan McArthur (Development Squad) • Blair MacLennan (Development Squad) • Calum Howarth (Development Squad) • Chris Brown (Development Squad) • Stephen Rennie (Development Squad) • Chris Blackett (Development Squad) • Daniel Hoban (goalkeeper) (Development Squad)
  11. Liam Fox has left Raith Rovers to take up a full-time coaching position at Hearts. At only 31, he's obviously still got a few years left as a player; but he'll predominately work with, and play for, their Development League squad. Possibly a good 'model' - having the older-headed 'boss' playing in the team, alongside the youth players he's coaching.
  12. Apparently 'confirmed' in the Courier print-edition! Very good news.
  13. He's been at ICT for 15 years, from the age of 8 through all the youth ranks. He's publicly stated that he'd like to move on - perfectly understandable. Paradoxically, victims of our own success here, but what better time to move than after having just lifted the Scottish Cup!
  14. A hat-trick of 'leading scorer' awards for Billy, equalling the three-year-runs of Adam Rooney, Dennis Wyness and Iain Stewart. Who will be our next leading marksman?
  15. Shane Sutherland was released two years ago, Harry. His first season at Elgin wasn't particularly fruitful, but the last campaign was better - he even made the League Two Team of the Year.
  16. Talk about fickle fans! It's almost like you're suggesting it would be beneficial for us if he moved-on. "Hey, Aberdeen - here's Marley. Good luck with this injury-prone dud!" If the club released a statement, that after much consideration, Marley Watkins had committed himself to Inverness by penning a new two-year-contract, you'd surely be on here singing his, and the club's praises!
  17. Technically, we could also count Paul Sheerin as another ICT legend 'plying his trade' at Pittodrie!
  18. You're most likely correct CaleyD, although I did read that it was 1st July for Shinnie (from Monday's P&J). Although your example does make sense. From Aberdeen close in on deal for Staggies defender Paul Quinn ....source close to the player said: “Paul enjoyed his time at County. However, he sees joining Aberdeen as the right thing to do at this stage of his career.” Caley Thistle defender and captain Graeme Shinnie will sign for Aberdeen on July 1 after agreeing a three-year pre-contract deal as Dons manager Derek McInnes plans for next season’s Europa League campaign.Pittodrie club captain Russell Anderson has retired, while defender Joe Shaughnessy will move to St Johnstone and midfielder Nicky Low to Dundee.
  19. I think that's correct. Technically, Shinnie, for example, doesn't officially become a Don until 1st July.

As Saturday proved, there is a potential fan-base there which could be tapped for future growth. Although it's widely 'accepted' that we only have around 3,000-3,500 core fans, I've always thought that it's surely not the same folk who turn-up, week-in-week-out. It's probably more complex than that, with a small number of 'diehards' who are there at 80% of the games (some 100% of course), and a mixture of others who can be there when they can. I'd put myself in that bracket. This is a 'back of a fag packet' calculation of where our fans come from (with apologies for my clumsy attempt at categorising fans into 'type'). But, it perhaps demonstrates how retaining even a small fraction of the more casual fans could see us significantly increase our average attendance.
  21. There will be many in the same boat, gyles - me too! Really hard for most to get time off work, midweek at short notice. My 'annual leave' is submitted and then ratified in February each 'calendar year' - and after that, there's little room for flexibility! I've never booked them around what might happen in football - as It just makes me look a dick! I'll get to the home game though!

Blatter has resigned....to complete a Carlsberg football week!
  23. Swan Vesta is a recognised striker - sure to light-up any match!
  24. Home/away will be decided on the day of the draw. So, in essence, we won't know until the draw!
