  1. Shiels is manager of Derry City so I doubt would be that interested (Stephen Kenny, formerly of Dunfermline and now of Dundalk was another who crossed my mind but I doubt he'd be interested either). For all his trolling and controversy though, behind the scenes seemingly Shiels is a very guy and his knowledge of the game is apparently superb.
  2. Interviewed for it twice I believe. When Butcher got it and when Butcher left. I could live with him taking over and there would certainly be worse candidates but now we're on the same level as Morton, I doubt he'd be particularly interested. This is exactly my thoughts. I'm fine with Malpas as assistant or as a coach but certainly not as the manager.
  3. Unless following his rejection of a new deal, the club didn't re-open talks and let his contract run out.
  4. And Malpas. He was offered the job when Butcher went and turned it down. We should leave his 'come and get me' plea unheeded.
  5. This is an excellent point. The facilities for the North Stand are a disgrace (the PA is barely audible and the mens toilets don't even have seats!). The club have tried desperately to get new fans in but have forgotten the ones already there. I can point to seats around me of people who've just stopped going altogether. Is it any surprise when the club clearly doesn't value the fans they have and believe they deserve the bare minimum? I'm sure it's nice and warm in the hospitality suits though...
  6. I think Leahy is planning on going to a club in a league better than the Championship. Loy did very little at Dundee. Shankland might have potential but seems to have problems with weight and fitness apparently.
  7. I believe it was rented. I know you're fishing, but Larsson's record as a manager is really poor.
  8. Going by the Press and Journal, Sheerin is our first choice, while Malpas might be keen and Gus McPherson is also someone who might be of interest to the club. The Arbroath fans on P&B seem to rate Sheerin quite highly and claim he played very exciting attacking football. I've no idea what kind of football Malpas would play other than history suggests it wouldn't be very effective, while McPherson's St Mirren's only tactics seemed to be 90 minutes of hoofs up the park. Sheerin appeals to me most out of all three, but even then I'm not exactly bowled over by any of them.
  9. The thought of Gus McPherson makes me want to cry.
  10. The club wouldn't bring Latapy back. His influence on the team was by many accounts, was minimal and his behaviour and lack of dedication was why he was removed from his position. There's absolutely no chance of the club considering him. Jimmy Calderwood seldom turned up when he was County manager. Not a nice man either. No thanks. We need a professional, not a dinosaur.
  11. The same Latapy who apparently had a habit of going AWOL and when he did turn up was allegedly extremely lazy. Amazing how some fans still cling onto this myth that he was some kind of coaching guru.
  12. There are plenty of better options. Malpas' record as a manager is absolutely abysmal.
  13. Even though he was a poor manager, yesterday marks the end of a club legend after eight years. I think he deserved better than about five sentences in a statement written in English so poor that even a P7 could write better.
  14. Paul Gascoigne? Good Lord.
  15. He was working at a club in America. Again could be another market we could tap into (as long as it's not the return of Stratford!).
  16. The chances of Eric Black or Kevin MacDonald coming are practically zero.
  17. By my understanding, Telfer came with some very good references (one from Martin O'Neill as I recall) and interviewed very well, hence why he got into the final round of interviews when Butcher went. Apparently as well, he was manager of Sutton United in everything but name as the owner at that time wanted to keep the manager title for himself. I think he'd suit us actually.
  18. Irish people aren't foreign, despite the Republic being an independent nation. I've mentioned him before but Paul Telfer was very close to getting the job when Hughes did. We've done well recruiting from the lower English leagues and he'd have a lot of contacts down there, as well as Scotland and America. He'd be an intriguing choice.
  19. I'd like a completely new approach and a completely new direction. A foreign manager might be the way to go.
  20. ICT have just announced Richie Foran has left the building. A sad end, but probably for the best.
  21. The sad thing is that it isn't even unexpected. The club's become a basketcase on and off the pitch. The quick fix and lack of foresight for the way ahead has caught up with us.
  22. I think it's quite telling that Newport County supporters didn't seem too upset about him leaving, despite his good scoring record. Many claimed he was slow and lazy and it has come to pass, that those aspects of his game have not changed.
  23. Barry Wilson talked on the radio about a vote that was held by the board of directors around a month ago where the prospect of sacking Foran was voted down. I believe Smith was one who voted to sack Foran.
  24. Hang on, promote Ali Sutherland to the first team?! He left the club in January!
  25. Down with the media team!
