  1. "It was good to see Jonny back in action," said Butcher. "It was a bonus, really, him coming on." So why did he only get ten minutes?
  2. Yeah.... and sell him to the Hibees... It will cheer me up no end if they all end up in Div 1!
  3. Hayes looked very fit to me when he came on with about 10 minutes to go, which kind of begged the question as to why he couldn't have been brought on with 30 minutes to go. In fact he looked so good I wondered why Terry didn't see fit to letting him start the game. Duncan also made a decent impact when he came on - again shouldn't he have started the game? Rooney was very disappointing - still a good player, but his form has dipped by around 50% ever since the transfer speculation started. He definitely needs to sign that contract and give himself at least 1 more year here. All in all I thought a draw today was probably a fair result - Hamilton played very well, and do not look anything like a bottom of the table team.
  4. You would have Eric and Danni in that line-up ahead of Nick Ross?
  5. Rangers went to Berwick and lost!
  6. Sorry for going off topic, but George Galloway and Alistair Campbell are also on that programme tonight - could be interesting viewing!
  7. If true, wouldn't it make more sense to accept the offer of 100k from Kuban Krasnodar now, rather than see him move off to one of our SPL rivals in the summer for nothing? . .
  8. As I pointed out previously, he (David Sutherland) was one of the men behind the proposal back in 2006, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if he was still in favour of it - Link However, having looked at the STV report online from earlier, unless they have edited it from what went out on TV, then I think people are perhaps reading a lot more into what was said than is actually there. It could just as easily have been preceded by a statement wholly agreeing with Terry and all we have got is the tail end where Sutherland is saying...."Terry, the Board have got your back so you can concentrate on the football and leave the rest up to us". He more or less said TB was appointed to deal with team matters - no more than that - all the politics involved pertaining to league reorganisation were matters for the chairman and the board to consider - not Terry Butcher. I thought his comment, accompanied by an apologetic smile, that everyone is entitled to rant now and again, was patronising in the extreme. It's a sad state of affairs that the club cannot present a united front in this matter. Edited to attach link to DFS comments on STV - about 16 mins in. DFS on STV
  9. Great post, CD - Well done Big Man. You should print that out and send a copy to TB. He might be very happy to raise these questions (and more) on your behalf, with the powers that be.
  10. I've got a brilliant memory... This was how the top 10 came into being in 74/5. see here
  11. Ok... fair comment - he is entitled to his opinion of course, but given that he is wanting to take a back seat now, and is prepared to relinquish his shareholding within the club, why should anyone pay any attention for the direction he thinks Scottish football should be taking? Does it not now boil down to who's opinion you have the most respect for? Terry Butcher or David Sutherland?
  12. Good question. I don't think it would work this time. I'm old enough to remember when the Scottish Premier Division was created back in the 70's, and we went from an 18 team Div 1 to a premier league of 10. I didn't think it did anything for the game at that time, and can't see how it would be any different this time. We had some terrific games in Div 1 last season, and lots of good away days. If you were to add the current top 4 of Div 1 to the current SPL that for me would make a very attractive 16 team league. There would still have to be a split to avoid completely meaningless games in the middle of the table towards the end of the season. The ideas of a 14 or a 16 league set up, or even the status quo just has to preferable to another 10 team SPL. Sky TV should not be calling all the shots - they will kill the game off completely as a spectator sport. They're not interested in bums on seats - only in bums in pubs, and armchair sports package people. . .
  13. Michael Johnson of Kilmarnock is talking more sense than anyone else on this programme.
  14. He was on Sportsound a few days ago and would not directly answer any questions as to what he thought was the best way forward for Scottish football. I got the distinct impression he was in favour of a ten team set up. The David Sutherlands of this world are motivated entirely by greed.
  15. My question would be : Why should someone (Henry McLeish) who was forced to quit politics after an expenses fiddle scandal be charged with the responsibility of coming up with a new league structure?
  16. Gloves are off now - this could be interesting!
  17. This sounds too good to be true for me - Tade would be fantastic signing - although he's listed as a midfield player he was about the most dangerous looking striker I saw when we were in the SFL. I'm sure he would fit in really well at ICT and could potentially end up even more successful than Rooney.
  18. Actually, if you listen to TB's post match speech/rant you could almost be forgiven for thinking we won the game. It was certainly a moral victory.
  19. Hail the new Messiah!! Well done, TB.... Delivering speeches like that it's not hard to see how you get our boys well and truly fired up with your team talks. The SPL will now seriously have to completely rethink their league reconstruction plans. Keep it up old son....you're not just putting not just Caley Thistle on the map, but the City of Inverness as well.
  20. Bad luck guys.... sounded like a great fightback towards the end.
  21. Hibs are out... 1-0 Ayr United. End of the road for Calderwood?
  22. Worse possible time to concede.... Otherwise sounded like a decent half for us. All is not necessarily lost.
  23. Thought you were meant to be at work.
  24. That was all but a done deal according to the media, but it's not going to happen. Maybe someone should have asked Martin O'Neill.
