  5. Better still, here is a report from www.highlandleague.net Young Caley Jags book final berth Inverness Caley Thistle will face Nairn County on either Saturday Sepotember 20th or Sunday September 21st in the ITP Solutions North of Scotland Cup final as the youngsters collected their third consecutive clean sheet to see off Wick Academy at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium. The home team were the first to threaten with former Elgin City loanster Zander Sutherland scampering down the wing and producing a fine cross which was met by Shane Sutherland, but his header from eight yards flew over the bar. Wick's first shot on came in the 19th minute, Gary Farquhar striking a Craig Shearer lay off towards goal but it never troubled the young Caley Jags keeper. However it was Inverness side that were looking the likelier to score. Shaun Carrol shot wide from a Shane Sutherland lay off then Dale Gillespie fired a 25 yard range finder straight at Don Macmillan. The opener came in the 36th minute, and it was a cracking strike from one of the North's top young talents. Midfielder Dale Gillespie let fly from all of 30 yards and the ball zipped past keeper Don Macmillan to the keeper's right. Wick responded positively and two minutes later Richard Macadie cut in from the left and fired a 20 yard effort at goal, but Kyle Allison made a comfortable save. At the other end Don Macmillan had to look lively to deny Shaun Carrol, diving to his right to make the save. On the stroke of half time some neat passing involving Richard Macadie and Gary Farquhar saw the former strike a shot over the bar to leave the score 1-0 at the break. On the hour mark a swift break up the field saw Gary Weir play in Nigel Mackenzie but a great blocking tackle prevented his shot from testing Kyle Allison in the Caley Jags nets. At the other end left back Graham Shinnie was denied by a fine save from Don Macmillan, the former Ross County keeper palming the ball round the post for a corner, however it was the post that was to deny sub Nick Ross who cracked a 25 yarder towards the bottom corner. One minute into injury time the home team booked their place in the final when Shaun Carrol was on hand to slot the ball home from close ranger to set the seal on the result. Full Time: Inverness Caley Thistle 2 Wick Academy 0 Reporter: Luke Bunch

He did indeed score another two on Saturday, the original post was dated before that game though kev. The first goal was a good one aparently Ayr striker Bryan Prunty beat three defenders and smashed a powerful drive past Myles Hogarth after nine minutes. Two minutes later Prunty again ran into the box and played a neat one-two before curling the ball beyond Hogarth.

  13. Here is the report from Official Site Chairman The Club has today (Tuesday) issued their annual accounts to shareholders announcing a loss of ?432,000 on the year's trading. The accounts reflect the increased investment in the first team squad and its support structure plus no extended cup runs last season with consequent loss of potential Sky TV income. During the period covered by the accounts, ?285,000 of new shares was issued thus reducing the effect of the loss. Chairman George Fraser said: "The club has made a surplus equating to ?490,000 in the previous two financial years and going forward we must ensure that our business model continues to be robust and sustainable for the longer term. "All clubs must be mindful of their cost base in the current challenging environment and we are no different." Mr Fraser added: "The budget for the 2008-09 season will not be impacted by the loss and we have set a football budget which has already delivered the arrivals of Adam Rooney and Andy Barrowman at the club. "It is important to note that the accounts for 2008-09 will include the transfer fee paid by Dinamo Bucharest for Marius Niculae which will positively impact our year end." The Chairman emphasised the club's gratitude to supporters and for all the assistance from sponsors, including major deals with Main sponsor Flybe and Youth & Community sponsor LifeScan, through to the local sponsors which he stressed remain the lifeblood of the club

  15. Phew, that was close.
  16. This Tokely chap must really be superman after all. He is expected to be everywhere at the same time, scoring goals at one end, putting crosses into the box and being in the right place whenever the opposition attack being able to block every shot on goal. His crosses were not great on Saturday, but he did work hard and but for a wicked deflection off of the unfortunate McGuire, Hibs would not have scored, in fact Nish looked suspiciously offside. But why don't we just blame Tokely for everything, it must all be his fault. My flabber has never been more gasted in reference to Rossco's ability.
  17. Will you be aplauding and cheering if he were to score against us Before the game fair enuff mun, during the game, I don't think I will be cheering his every move.
  18. It was a great reaction save, he was moving across goals and had to redirect himself and threw an arm out, unfortunately for us he managed to claw the ball away. We did start the game brightly and deservedly took the lead, good counter move and a great ball by Black to Cowie. Not too significant a deflection I thought as the ball went through the defender but a goal it was. Hibs came more into it and deservedly equalised, but for all their neat build up play and quick breaks they could not get the better of us. At least we made a draw out of it, this was the type of game last season we might just have lost instead of drawing, only four draws last season.
  19. I agree, although I personaly did not boo him, others close by were quick to boo, fair game in this workplace I'm afraid.
  20. Excuse me young men, but was section G not the self proclaimed singing section by the singers themselves. They all gathered round the top area of section G, often sitting in my seat, and normally made noise, banged a drum and created what little atmosphere there was. I don't believe that stewards will stop you from singing/chanting, provided the language is acceptable and you are not breaking any other ground regulations. It was deathly quiet on Saturday, and Alex did turn round a couple of times to enquire where the noise was, and this did prompt him to start his own noise. No harm done. Why has the noise stopped, is there a valid reason, or has apathy taken over. You don't have to make a noise if you don't want to, it's your prerogative, but you guys did create the 'section G' myth yourselves. Lets all make sum noyz next home game, and bring a friend who is willing to make sum noyz as well.
  21. Whats with all the Tokely baiting. I must be missing something there. I thought our defence as a unit did well enough to keep a lively Hibs side at bay mostly. Their shooting was woeful, akin to our own cross balls. If anyone needs singled out from yesterday surely Dougie Imrie needs to take a long hard look at his input from the last two games. Unable to take on defenders and unable to make telling crosses. What has happened since the Dons game to change his performances. Lionel was also guilty of poor play as well when he came on for the reasonably effective Roy McBain. Maybe an opening for Zander as an out and out winger.
  22. Don't forget we were going well in the first half and that shite keeper made an incredible point blank save from a Tokely header. We looked decent in the first half of the first half.......................then we came undone........ Substitute Jimmi Jabbi was not the right move to play him as a forward attacking midfielder.........taking Roy off, who had been quite effective, and the last straw was the humping of the ball up to the ineffective Barrowman and Rooney, although I thought Rooney was more likely than Barrowman to succeed. Hibees did have more attempts on goal, but by and large they were pitiful, whereas Black could have sorted it for us at the end but his half volley went agonisingly wide. On reflection, a better point for us than Hibs, but it was always going to be tight. Imrie was as last week uninspiring, and the strikers lacked the telling balls to help them. Special mention to the back line, Fraser, McGuire, Tokely and Hastings stood firm, but none better than last weeks unfortunate debutant Jamie Duff, well done son, take bow. In fact, Jamie Duff needs his own thread.............

Some great photo's in there. Photo's 35-38 are crackers, lots of happy Dons fans Mr Angry is in number 50, and Mr Happy in 51.
  24. I certainly won't be cheering him, thats for sure.................maybe a few choice words will suffice.
  25. Barry certainly is the millenium man. He scored the last goal in the last millenium and the first goal in this mellenium. On the back of this game the Liverpool X1 played a Hamilton X1 last night, here is the news from the Hamilton website. http://www.acciesfc.co.uk/ HAMILTON 1-2 LIVERPOOL Accies fielded an extremely experimental side for this game and it was the Liverpool Reserve team that came away with a victory. Manager Billy Reid played no fewer than 5 trialists from the start, with another coming into the action after the break. None of the team that won at Inverness started the game, although several of the top team squad were involved. The good news for Accies was that David Elebert played the full 90 minutes as he continues to gain fitness. Liverpool opened the scoring with a first half header from centre half Ronald Huth that looped over Accies 'keeper Sean Murdoch. Accies equalised in the second half with a smartly taken goal by Joel Thomas and he nearly scored the winner from a tight angle after rounding goalkeeper Martin Hansen but his shot hit the post. Accies spent the bulk of the second half on top of the game, but it was a Liverpool substitute who won the game for his team after rounding Sean Murdoch near the end. This was a good exercise for Accies and a chance for several of the fringe players and trialists to catch Billy Reid's eye. Bear in mind, we also played plenty of part time players and youngsters at various stages of the game.
