  1. Back in the Clearance era, did everyone actually wear sporrans in front of kilts of that style? And is the large figure a man or a woman? It sends out mixed messages. (PS - I'm perpetually on Over Romanticised Pishwatch!) I can't remember that far back if they wore sporrans, the large figure is a man with a chest like that! Charles you have too much time on your hands now you are retired

  11. No Scarlet I am just a young lad..................compared to most following this thread
  12. Scarlet your first sentence covers it nicely!
  13. Not long after moving into Inverness in 1968 attending Merkinch School I had a dream that I was on my way home along School Lane from school when I got in a fight with another boy and he pulled out a knife, at that I woke up with such a fright. The school I was dreaming about was the Police Station at Farraline Park To me it was just a bad dream until many years later my father in law was talking about being born in Rose Street and going to Bells School. Being interested in old Inverness I asked him where was Bells School? Now was that a dream or a nightmare?
  14. Don't forget what David Cameron said 'We are all in it together' Aye right
  15. Och well that will be a chocolate teapot for me then
  16. Is that at the new mart in Dingwall? You did give a bit of a clue
  17. Don't think I would fit in there and am not so up to date with all the modern cars so I will not bother applying.
  18. What is that Scarlet you have lost me!
  19. No Scarlet it was just a blend and not a very good one but the lebel was good and locals raved about it at the time, I had many a dram myself
  20. I would guess a 90, that model was known as the P4 with the 80,90,95,100 & 105 all sharing the same body with the only difference being the engine size & trim over a 10-12 year period I think! The one thing I liked about them was the rear door was hinged at the rear which gave very easy access. These cars had 2.3 & 2.6 straight 6 engines with acceleration from 0-60 well over 20 seconds but when the were wound up they could fly along with a top speed about 100mph which was fast in them days. Unfortunately there were not many roads suitable for that in the old days!
  21. You are getting good Charles! A Morris JB van at the front, Land Rover, Ford Zepher, Riley/Wolseley 1.5, Ford Consul behind the Husky, A30/35 & Bedford Dormobile on right. The Macfarlane biscuit van is a Morris FEK100. Don't know the van at the back but it looks like Postman Pats and the garage is Macrae & Dick with the petrol pumps inside the entrance from Strothers Lane.
  22. I couldn't see Bryan Munro putting out one like that now!
  23. Didn't play street football but would have been more interested in the Bedford HA van & the Granada behind it!
  24. It was not great but it was cheap, I thought it was bottled by H.D.Wines but notice the lebel Macfarlane & Bruce.
  25. The old slipway at South Kessock (doon the ferry)
