  1. I know you are almost always right on these things IBM, but is that not the Anderson Street side of Bon Accord with Jamaica Street round the corner to the left past the lorries? Is the end of the building, as viewed from Jamaica Street, not to the left? When I worked for Tommy Robb in my summer job in 1971 and 1972, I used to use both doors with my lorry and I think that one may be the one bedise the offices facing on to Anderson Street. Just testing you Charles was it the bottling plant that was on Jamaica St?
  2. Struggling with this one IHE, last guess the river Conon towards Maryburgh?
  3. The Zepher and Wolseley were from mid-late 50's
  4. Would that have been somewhere between the Muirtown Motel and Blackpark filling station ? I do remember as a kid that there was a steep hill leading down to the road in between those two points (just past the motel chalets before they replaced them with a hotel block). At the top you were near the last few houses at the bottom of scorguie, at the bottom, you were basically almost on the (old) A9. Many a fun afternoon there sliding down the hill on a tyre or on a tin tea tray (nowadays that would be luge I guess !) ....... Late 60s to early 70s we used to go the fields up behind the big house on Firthview Road, I think it was called Charleston House which is now flats (escaping demolition) before Macrae built all the houses further up Firthview Road, Drive and Avenue.
  5. You are right bughtmaster but chicken was a treat that you didn't get often, my grandfather was good at catching them and a quick twist of the neck you had the makings of a good dinner
  6. Just read that, not good from a young manager!
  7. Bingo! Makes complete sense. The clothes also fit around 1936 when I think they opened. (Must have been a hell of a lot of people needing a good wash ) But they are queuing the wrong way, the baths were back round the corner to the left! Yes, but is the front door of the baths not at the end of the building which is below the bottom of the photo so the queue will go off the bottom and snake round to the left at that point? In fat is that not the edge of the baths that we can see on the right had edge of the photo? The rear of the baths is out of view at the top left of the photo the rear of the queue is coming round from Chapel St and the front is heading towards the town, it must turn back down Friars St (some bloody queue) is IHE on the wind up none of them have towels rolled up under their arms

  10. Mine was Duncraig Castle from Plockton with Hamish Macbeath & Wee Jock in the shot, the camera man filming was not happy at me snapping behind him! Missed the Cluanie Inn, must have been lunch time. Not sure on that one but think it may be Bonar Bridge.
  11. Jamaica St before the houses were built on Maclennan Crescent side, 3 Bedford OLB's, Ford Thames & Albion.
  12. Might be an exclusive in the P & J tomorrow!
  13. A hereditary peer was giving his opinion when a newby left-winger accused him of never having used a bus. The peer said he'd rectify that at the end of proceedings that very day. "Sure enough, he was seen to leave the House and go to the nearest bus stop. He got on the first bus that arrived and said to the driver, '24 Russell Square, please'." Think about who you vote for!
  14. Danny Alexander has called on voters to form a unionist alliance to stop his and other Liberal Democrat seats falling into the hands of nationalists, according to the Scotland on Sunday. Getting worried now!
  15. Just pathetic even if you were doing a report and you weren't sure you can Google it, just did and he is still with us
  16. Yes and what a grand house it would have been in its day.
  17. Must have been some queue if it was for a train! The building with Fertilisers and Feeding Stuffs is in Grebe Street and is currently a furniture shop and they are queueing through what is now Ogalvies Furniture car park up towards Beatons Lane and North Church Place which is at the rear of the Penticostal and Free Church.
