  1. You are getting good Charles! A Morris JB van at the front, Land Rover, Ford Zepher, Riley/Wolseley 1.5, Ford Consul behind the Husky, A30/35 & Bedford Dormobile on right. The Macfarlane biscuit van is a Morris FEK100. Don't know the van at the back but it looks like Postman Pats and the garage is Macrae & Dick with the petrol pumps inside the entrance from Strothers Lane.
  2. I couldn't see Bryan Munro putting out one like that now!
  3. Didn't play street football but would have been more interested in the Bedford HA van & the Granada behind it!
  4. It was not great but it was cheap, I thought it was bottled by H.D.Wines but notice the lebel Macfarlane & Bruce.
  5. The old slipway at South Kessock (doon the ferry)
  6. You have me beat with that helmet IHE
  7. Was she agitated at the thought of you arriving Charles?
  8. Yes, it's amazing the difficulty some people have in making that out! On the other hand once they get it the first time it's usually less of a problem thereafter. The likeness to a German soldier of World War 1 is incredible, in particular the moustache which was popular at the time and the shape of the helmet which is subtly different from the WW2 design. Charles you are getting your helmets mixed up or your world wars, unless you are seeing a different German's head than me No, definitely not IBM. The WW1 German helmet - the ordinary one, not the pickelhaube - was used up until around the early 30s. The shape is essentially the same as the WW2 helmet but the earlier one looks that bit more substantial. You got me reading up on helmets Charles! The Pickelhaube with the spike I associated with WW1 but it was replaced in 1916 with the Stahlhelm which continued in use into WW11 which I had on my German toy soldiers. I think I would be due pass marks in my history for that
  9. I did notice that bughtmaster and thought it would be nice to turn the clock back for a dram or two, I do like the Islay Malts!
  10. Ballifeary Road with the RNI at the top of the picture, 1 & 3 Springfield Gardens a visible, the old camp is on what is now Torvean Avenue. I have never herd of any camp being there will need to rely on the elder generation
  11. Lovely looking bit of grass soon to be where the new ring road is going to run! Speaking of the electric burn did I read somewhere recently that they were going to put in a mini hydro scheme in there or was it just a dream?

  13. None of these fit so I must be perfect (not prefect)
  14. Very early motorbikes at Academy St at the lane going up to the back station, the garage R Macrae & Sons was that prior to Macrae & Dick?
  15. Easy for me the German's head at the Slocht, some people have never seen it even stopping on the old road!

    THE DANCING

That is old with only Duncan Fraser & Chisholm's still in business. The only other ones I remember are Gilbert Ross, Stratton & Dorando's.
  17. I had that a few times, most for spelling mistakes in Fort Augustus Primary, the teacher a Mrs Smith was a horrible woman and it didn't improve my spelling
  18. The thing I used to hate was the chewing gum stuck underneath the lids!
  19. I remember Roy Lobban when he used to drive for R & F Campbell and work part time in the Caley Club.
  20. I seem to remember one of these with numbers but may be wrong.
  21. Selling clothes pegs, like? No didn't do that but the water was so good that when drinking my morning tea I would make a wish that I would have time for tea in the afternoon and my wish was granted
  22. The Tarradale closed many years ago leaving only 1 pub in Muir of Ord (The Ord Arms) recently they were replacing the windows in it so there are renovations taking place but don't know what. From the left Austin 12, Ford Consul Mk1 & Mk2 and heading towards Tore a MG I think!
