  1. Are you sure you didn't think it was a Marina you had
  2. I like the Macbraynes Bedford TK in Stornoway, they were a basic lorry but good to drive the one that I had was the 570 which had the four cylinder engine and lacked power especially on the hills.
  3. That's a Hillman Avenger my father had the 1500 GLS which had good spec for the time and was quite nippy although if yo went over 70mph there was a howling wind noise from the front windscreen/door pillars.
  4. Yes it was going north and there was nothing said to me about taking the photos but there was a lot of panic when the lorry got stuck and there was a lot of work on the brakes to hold it on the hill and the clutch to get it started again.
  5. Yes I am well travelled That one is nearer home, Neil Gunn memorial up the heights of docharty
  6. While heading north on the A9 one morning north of Helmsdale I overtook a slow moving lorry with no markings with a van travelling close behind so I stopped a the Berridale Braes to take a photo. As it rounded the hairpin bend it had to stop for a car coming down the hill. When the car was clear driver started to move again and the lorry was loosing traction where the shellgrip was worn away on the road which seemed to cause a panic with the men in following van. The guys jumped out then running back for their yellow jackets, one rushed up the road to stop any more traffic coming down the hill while the driver got out of the lorry to check out the situation. After reversing back down the hill a few meters and three attempts the lorry got grip by going right over on the opposite side of the road and made it's way up the hill. I managed to get a photo of the detail on the back of the trailer which was going to a Colin Macdonald at UKAEA Dounreay and the weight 50 tones. With the lorry and trailer weight included would be near 80 tones I wonder what was in the trailer!
  7. That would have made it easier but I didn't need it Who is this memorial for?

    Centenary Club

And before the Centenary Club there was the 200 club which was run by Reenie Urquhart which I had won a few prizes over the years so joined the Centenary Club from the start and also had a few prizes If your not a member it's worth joining.
  9. A beach and island with lighthouse I will have to wait till I put the PC on tonight for a proper look
  10. At Bucht Park where they played at the time Mike didn't play but used to go and support the team.
  11. Yes west coast and salt water I was standing on the bridge where the river runs into the sea.
  12. Yes he turned out to be a good signing, playing a number of good games before the season ended suddenly.
  13. Still brings a tear to the eye after 20 years. A lot of people thought we were mad going back down on a Tuesday night for the game but Bhoy it was worth it
  14. Must be to hard The Corries sung about it.
  15. Good post Kingsmills I fully agree with your sentiments but I fear that even after this things will not change as the wealthy only care about themselves and the amount of money the have and can make, it's just pure greed! I have just read an excellent book 'Insurrection' by James Hunter which is about the potato famine in Scotland during the winter of 1846-47 when many families starved at a time when Great Britain was a well of country. With the exception of a few rich land owners the vast majority did nothing to help those living on their land while wining and dining with their fellow Lords. Over 160 years later there is still a lot of poverty and there will be even more after this and it's not likely to change. A bit like our football the greedy big clubs don't want to share any more money with the smaller clubs!
  16. As much as I dislike Partick and Ian Mccoll I agree with you.
  17. I have worked up a few of the telephone poles you can see in the photo and there is a BT radio station further north towards the lighthouse that feeds the Western Isles. Here is another one where is this?
  18. The last time there was a vote was it not Aberdeen and Ross County that voted against? Although Roy Macgregor is wanting everyone to work together I would not trust him!
  19. Melvaig northwest of Gairloch, I have worked out there a few times over twenty years ago and we stayed in the Old Inn Gairloch at good rates when David and Ann Curruthers had it.
  20. The whole thing stinks of corruption! The ones running Scottish football always have their own agenda and couldn't care less what the fans want. I just hope all the clubs survive through this to start again for the next season.
