  1. Act of desperation. Doesnt change the fact that they have some very difficult away games coming up. Would have to be a very confident manager to think they can turn it around. Or an easy excuse if they fail, didnt have enough time!!!
  2. Well done to Airdrie United. Dundee fans are calling for Jocky Scotts head on the radio. Could be the most precious point of the season today, but my god the ref was about the worst homer I have ever seen. Golabek getting booked for trying to take Barrowmans feet was ridiculous, as he didnt bring him down, yet The county player didnt even get talked to for rugby tackling Johnny Hayes 10 seconds later which was the foul given. Time and time again, felt like 12 county players sometimes.
  3. After the Ayr result, I honestly think that we can afford to draw with County on Saturday. After Saturday, each of our big big games are at home, apart from Queens. Dundee are away to County, Dunfermline and ICT, cant see them winning all of them, and add Raith, Partick away for Dundee - as long as we can hold our form it could be between us County and the Pars on the last day. Dundee would probably try to sign Johnny Hayes and Adam Rooney for next season if they dont go up!
  4. Jeepers Creepers, The Dee have got the Jitters. A big big well done to Ayr United tonight. I can smell the cr*p from Dens now, even up here in the Highlands. Time to change trousers Dee fans
  5. Dee's bottle going big style. Airdrie away next, and just by chance Airdrie are picking up results now too, especially at home
  6. Dee losing plot. Down to 10 men, Jocky Scott sent to stand. Pressure is all on Dundee
  7. be happy if the blew the whistle now. Huge leads can be blown, Oxford have blown a massive lead in the vauxhall conference this season
  8. Tom was No 3 I think. Closest to the dugouts in the first half. Youths were the best 5 from the under 17s, and Liam Polworth who Ithink is maybe just 15, but not out of place. Hope these guys all get kept on in the Summer, as I have watched them for years, and have progressed really well. Did anyone notice Adam MacLeod was going to take the penalty until Nick took the ball of him.
  9. County have that replay for a semi spot sandwiched between us. Must be the three biggest games in their history really. Could make their season or ruin it. We will need to attack from the start, and get Hayes skipping past them. Will be a better game than Morton one, as County will not try and keep everyone behind the ball. Shaping up to be a cracker I think. Can see Rooney getting a couple on Saturday. Hibs game might mean they take their eye of the ball, if you know what I mean.
  10. Tom Smith is from Dornoch, so think it will be the same one. MissICT, No 15 was Adam MacLeod. He is the top scorer in the 17s this season, think he has scored a goal a game average, and clear to see why tonight, a very two footed natural player, who can absolutely belt a shot in. Seen him score from his own half before. Culloden Academy?
  11. Team that started was Allison tom smith, Bully, LDZ, Strats, Eagle, McBain, Martin Laing, Nick Ross Danni, Calum Dingwall Half time, Martin Laing replaced by Liam Polworth and Danni Sanchez replaced by Adam MacLeod Mid second half Nick Ross came off for Jack Sutherland. Decent run out on a truely awful pitch. Of the youth players, all did pretty well, Tom Smith was solid and good with his passing, Martin Laing had a good first half and took a knock and was replaced by an also impressive Liam Polworth. Calum Dingwall showed some good touches, Adam MacLeod brought out a couple of good saves from the keeper, and Jack Sutherland had 20 mins and showed he was more than capable. All in all a good blend in the team. Think Danni took a nasty one on half time, and was limping badly going to the coach after. Good to see a decent turnout from first team players too. Saw Esson, Hayes, Rooney and Odhiambo. Probably a few others there too
  12. its one of the things they teach at the uefa pro licence courses. Play players out of position to challenge them, and also to get a different threat from the wingers. Full backs so used to them going outside them its more difficult for the defender to go the way he is not used too. hmm top teams try this too, so why not. However some players are ging to be better at it than others!!!
  13. Wasnt Nick Ross's debut today. Started games before at start of season, and came on as sub a good few times early on in season. If I remember right he had actually done pretty good, and earned good praise of big Tel. However today, Morton snuffed out the game, and we were left struggling without ideas. Seemed every time Eric and Nick got the ball the more physical Morton players used their muscle. Call recall a few times thinking have Morton got extra players on the park, as eric got the ball and had 3 defenders on him, ducked and dived, turned and weaved, and the ball spun off to Johnny, and their were 4 Morton boys snapping at him. Seemed to repeat its self time after time. But, glad we got the bad game out of the system, as if it was next week we wouldnt be so lucky. At least we were the team trying, although our aptitude wasnt great. 3 points better than an exciting 3-3.
  14. I do wonder what effect the cup defeat will have on them. Will it galvanise them, or wil it get right at their nerves. Remember they play Raith twice in a row, away and home in a couple of weeks. Bet Jocky Scott did not want to go out of the cup. Can see the crack in the bottle now. Have to admit, if I was a Dee fan I would be s*****g meself now. What has been the biggest points lead thrown away?
  15. Did he not say it was the semi final?
  16. Thats all we need to take it to the last game. ONE more win than Dundee. They have 6 away games before we meet on the last day. They have 6 what you would normally call really difficult games before they meet us, they way the fixtures are we have probably 4 - County, County, Queens away and Partick away. Match Dundees results and win on one of the days they lose, SIMPLES. Our goal difference is better so they should be getting a wee bit worried. What is the biggest points lead lost in the first division anyway!
  17. All ?250k of it? I'm sure one would agree that Griffiths is a great investment, as is Harkins, and we will no doubt make a good return on one if not both of them in the future. Furthermore I don't see why financial outlay will put more pressure on the players on the park. Further to the pressure aspect, we have the points on the board and ICT are playing catch up...ergo for the time being, the pressure is on you to win more of the last 11 games than us. Dundee's away record is terrible, but should we win our remaining 3 home games, that leaves you with 6 games to overturn the deficit (as you are 6 points behind). It's going to be tight... Pressure. 250K!!! Sorry its not just the signing on fees, its the wages they have committed to also. Im quite sure none of the large squad you have are on first division wages. Especially when some SPL clubs wanted to sign some of the players you got in the Summer but couldnt match your wages. Dont tell us your money man will be patient for a few years to get promotion. We all know its Dundee's title to lose, but we can hear the bottle getting tested. We have a history in winning the first division from way behind. WE JUST HAVE TO WIN ONE MORE GAME THAN YOU before the end of the season and its a winner takes all game to finish. We seem to be hitting form at the right time, getting better and better.
  18. Sorry mate, but its dundee's to lose. We have no pressure. Dundee have the pressure of all that money you spent, what a waste if you dont go up, should be out of site by now. Our away form is best in the league. Home form is now as good as ever. If things go to form with your away games Dundee will drop a good number of points, and a cup run might just hinder you, as I dont think it will help, especially if a semi appears on the horizon. We might just be saving beating you until it really really matters, and at some point the better footballing team has to win. Remember we didnt start playing this league until November-ish
  19. Dundee are not exactly on top form at the moment, are have to be one of the luckiest teams ever with deflections penalties and one goal wins. They have only won 3 of there 10 games away from home this season and have EIGHT away games left, and only 3 at home. Their remaining games have a few D-days for them. By my reckoning they have 6 really difficult games coming up. Here's their remaining games. Ayr AWAY, Airdrie AWAY, QOS HOME, County AWAY, Dunfermline AWAY, Ayr HOME, Plastic Whistle AWAY, Morton AWAY, Raith AWAY, Raith home, ICT AWAY. To be honest if I were a Dundee fan, I would be getting really nervous. Each away game is potentially a season maker and breaker. 2 of the home games should be bankers, but Queens will give them a test at home. The Queens game through to the away Raith games will be vital - 7 games 5 away. I think they will get 19 points out of 33. Any bets a decider on the last day!
  20. Have heard the figure of ?200,000 for a season of an u19s team. Its a how much do you want it boys, with wages around ? 100 per week. It is a lot of money we dont have but what is the point of training youths for 8 years and then letting them go. Without a 19s team only 2 maybe 3 might get kept on, which would mean abandoning a good number of excellent players. However, our esteemed Chairman is very very keen on developing the youth at the club, and I hope they will look at the bolls up that the 19s came this year ( One of them has quit completely recently), but I have a feeling they think it was a knee jerk over reaction to relegation, and understand they are strongly considering the 19s starting off again, in which case they have a better chance off achieving their dream of playing for ICT. I CERTAINLY HOPE SO
  21. Dont know who scored for 15s, but 17s scorers were Liam Polworth, Sean Napier, Kelvin MacKenzie,Jack Sutherland, Mark Noble, Andrew Greig and Adam MacLeod. Under 17s could break through into the first team - look at Aberdeen, Fraser Fyvie, and some others have foolowed suite. However, havent seen Tel or Mo watch any of the games, so only way they would be encouraged to come down is on the advice of Ronnie, Fiona, Charlie, Duncan etc
  22. For those who might be interested in watching the ICT youth teams, instead of watching one of the old firm on tv every sunday. Youth teams play at the Charleston pitches, beside the golf course, on a Sunday with 1 o clock kick offs usually. 13s and 14s play one week, away the next, with the 15s and 17s alternating. Today the 15s beat Dundee Utd convincingly by 4-1, and the 17s feilding a mainly older 17s team absolutely trounced the Utd 17s by 10 - 0. Andrew Greig scored a double, and Adam MacLeod got a perfect hatrick ( right, left and bullet header ) before coming off after an hour. Mark Noble also scored his first for ICT, noted by his verbal celebration after scoring the 9th goal. 13s and 14s at home against Hearts next week
  23. Been watching the youth teams for years now, and I can honestly say that I can only ever recall two current managers (at that time) coming to watch any youth teams. Charlie obviously came down, because of his previous involvement, and due to Ryans progress. The other, to give him his due was Craig Brewster, who watched regularly. Malky used to come down aswell sometimes, with or without Brew. Always had a positive effect on the young players too. Donald Park also came to watch regular, as would Duncan Shearer. Terry, Mo, and Rossco have recently been at youth training sessions though, so some idea of the pipeline will be known.
  24. typical. Dundee United have cancelled the game on Sunday and didnt give a reason. 17s wont be at the cup final then, as a bit late to change everyones transport plans. Tom Smith is a talented full back, and a good prospect. Been at ICT for a good few years now aswell, training 3 times a week and a game every weekend - his parents car must have chalked up a few miles
  25. Hmmmm, sorry for the Irish, but purely for the pain we have felt as Scots before. However, most are missing the very important point. ITS OK TO CHEAT ACCORDING TO FIFA. It can be argued that in a league game championships and relegations are not lost on one decision over a season. Champions league games up the stake a bit, with the prize being bigger and more glamourous. But heading to penalties to win a place at THE world cup - once every 4 years, worth how many millions to the knocked out country. ITS OK TO CHEAT. By the way the Knowledge Did you see the way Anelka went down with out being touched. Aiden and Kriss would have been proud. Anelka tried to CHEAT hte ref, but unfortunately the ref was not strong enough to book the cheat. The result will not be overturned and the game will not be replayed because it would open the floodgates with Fifa/Uefa and all associations. Hopefully what it will do is push Blatter and Platini to get the bigger more important games up to date with technology. ie internationals, european/asian/african/american champions league games, and then any leagues who can afford to kit out their top league teams with the equipment. Time has moved on as has overall quality of top players, and speed of the game. Its hypocritical that Fifa are up for introducing lighter footballs that swing, swerve and dip to improve the game, but to improve the games decision making they condem those who suggest it. Finally, IF FIFA bin Irelands appeals, I hope the Irish take them to task and SUE them and take them to the court of sport arbritation. Might hasten some steps into the 21st Century
