  1. I'm sure you are a very sensible young lady in reality but that post makes you sound like a 10 year old who has just been told she can't go to the park. "my brother can so why can't I? Mom said we could last week" and of course the now famous "it's not fair". Surely you can enjoy the occasion without the need to run around on the pitch? A lot of posters seem to think they are being treated unfairly because they can't invade the pitch. It is not permitted, it has never been and never will be permitted because people can get hurt. Wether it be a fan or a player. ICT don't want a star player getting hurt and missing games just as they don't want law suits due to a fan getting hurt and then complaining that it was ICT's fault for not ensuring their safety. Enjoy the day but do it sensibly. Simples. :022: Getting on the pitch at full time is what everyone wants to do. A chance to run about daft with excitement that ICT are back in the SPL. You get a special feeling when your on your clubs pitch and although it isn't brought on i regard it as an unwritten rule that you HAVE to invade the pitch at the end of the season if your team has won the league. I'm obviously just too old have these urges. I get excited by the fact we are in the SPL, (even though I prefer the 1st division) but I manage to control my primal urges and stay off the pitch. Hey, maybe on Saturday I'll really let myself go and buy a bag of wine gums.

  3. This post sounds as if you're threatening the club. That it will be their own fault if we as fans invade the pitch because you as a club didn't tell us not to or have enough stewards to stop us. We all know it is not acceptable to invade the pitch during the match. Last week happened, it's done. Hopefully nothing will come of it but if it does, hey, such is life. We just need to ensure that it doesn't happen again DURING this match. We all know if it does ICT will be hit hard, so as we are all fans of the club and want whats best for the club we will all refrain from being silly and wait until after the match before we feel the need to play silly b0ll0cks on the pitch. Having said that, some brain of Britain candidate will undoubtedly try to get his face in the paper by attempting to relieve Rooney of his shirt after he scores the winner.
  4. I think some on here are missing the point. Loads of people are going on about pitch invasions after this match and that match and not being fined. Maybe that's because it was AFTER the match and not DURING the match. It has become quite normal to invade the pitch after a title winning match and if this was the case it would probably and rightly go unpunished. The invasions that we may get fined for took place during a match which is unacceptable. I know emotions were running high but self control is in all of us, it's just a case of using it or not as the case may be. I bet the night after the Dundee match we will be discussing an incident involving one or more of our fans. If I'm wrong I'll apologise but I doubt if I'll have to. I'm a firm believer in having fun but controlled fun. Guess I'm just a boring old fart but hey, I'm happy. B)
  5. Using your own point, yes we all had death penalties at one stage but we have evolved. The USA may still have it but even that is done humanely now. Some countries would just find the rustiest old sword they could. Anyway we digress, the point is don't blame defence for cuts in highland budgets when council knobs are sitting at umpteen xmas dinners and we have all these lovely "artworks" around the city. Even streetscape was over 1000000 over budget.
  6. I know, but what i am trying to get at, is that many in the media lead us to believe that the USA and ourselves are the ones who are in the right, 9/10. That Iran ect and all idiots that could blow up the world at any minute. But im saying that the argument is the exact same for "our" side. The USA are just as likely if not more so to destroy everyone than Iran. That's not really true in that The USA care about what the world thinks in respect of what they do and how they do and The likes of Iran/Iraq don't give a monkeys if the world condemns them. You don't see many american suicide bombers. Now I know it's not the government carrying out suicide attacks but that is who we are fighting and the way they conduct themselves during a war. Civilised nations use a code of conduct even in war. Yep, once again i know what you mean. But as you said, its not the Governments that are doing this bombing. I don't believe these bombers are associated with these Governments at all infact. Just activists looking for trouble. But these countries are happy for this sort of conduct in war. What civilised country would behead people, chop someones hands off or stone a person to death? At least with the USA they adhere to a code of conduct.

  8. The only difference between Iran and the USA is that at the moment we get on with USA but not with Iran. If things were to change the good old US of A would be much more dangerous due to size of military and resources it has at it's disposal. So lets keep them onside. Given the choice I would rather have them as friend than foe.
  9. The Soldiers do need good gear. But, as had been said, we do not need to spend such large amounts on other things such as Trident. I do think we spend needless money. Personally, i think the size of our army is bigger than it has to be. We are not an empire anymore and so do not need a large military force. We do need a force of substancial size, but not as big as it is. We change our outlook regarding Foreign policy, and we could save billions of money, let alone hundreds of lives. As of Dec 2009 the British army consisted of approx 150,000 regular soldiers and 121,820 reserves that gives us a total of 271,820 serving troops available for war. During WW2 we lost 382,700 troops. You do the maths and call for cuts in numbers. I agree that things like trident should be discontinued but whilst other countries have these capabilities we need them. If Iran or some other loony starts shooting missiles at us you will be thankfull for our defence system then.
  10. Defence spending of that magnitude isn't exactly kit, it's trident weapons systems, nuclear armaments, satellites, intelligence networks, missiles, staff, etc etc. What does defence bring the Highlands? Ok, for some, artworks are a luxury, but they've been cut, and amount to a few grand here and there, from the Scottish Art Council, not from Highalnd Council, so not within the HC's realm... I agree there is a lot of frivolity but defence is the largest single waste of taxpayers money. And I have had two relatives killed in war, for your information. You're right a lot of the budget is spent on the items you mention but it is also spent on helicopters, armoured vehicles etc. things that save lives. What does defence bring to the highlands? Safety. I am sorry you have had to suffer the heartache of losing relatives due to war. I would have thought that would have made you see it from the other side, guess not. You preach against the military spending and defence yet have a signature advocating war and a username that amongst other things is the name of a japanese battleship, strange. Each to their own.
  11. Sorry I've taken so long to answer, I forgot about this thread. I will not argue with any of you and your answers because I agree totally that we shouldn't be there. I've always said that in all the past threads about this subject. My point is that while we are sending our troops to these wars (rightly or wrongly) then we should be making sure they have the correct equipment and don't have to fork out there own money to buy it. They signed up to protect queen and country, OUR queen and country. We shouldn't be in this war but while we are I will and we all should support our troops. The only point I will argue is that we spend NEEDLESS amounts of money on the military. If 1 penny of that money saves a soldier's life then it is money well spent.
  12. Maybe this will help. :021: http://www.yourirish.com/tricolour-flag.htm http://www.yourirish.com/four-provinces-flag.htm#leinster
  13. eeerrrggghh yeah, whatever you say. I think they'll be in South Africa in June but that's just me.
  14. Once the euphoria of this league championship wears off so might the urge to go against my deep rooted Anglophobia, who knows? Maybe it's the guilt of my comments on these boards earlier in the season making me want to give something back to God TB, but I think that I may have to seek IHE's professional opinion as I am still thinking about my allegiance during the forthcoming WC. Just repeat : They think it's all over.....it is know! That'll do the trick ! Don't you just love it when people try to take the **** and get it wrong?
  15. Welcome aboard my friend.
  16. The tri colour will always (rightly or wrongly) cause offence to someone at a footy match in Scotland. It will always be associated with the old firm or part there of. Even though it was obviously to honour our shamrock trio it was always going to cause hassle for someone. The saga of a tri colour and all it can represent has long been discussed even on this board. We have people who would happily fly the flag and we have those who wouldn't wipe their erse with it, not so much because it's an Irish flag but because of what it represents to many. Strange though a tri colour is not acceptable but Rangers shirts are, at the same match.
  17. How did the Ayr fans react? Did they take it in the spirit it was meant or see it as an invasion of their "turf"?
  18. Cut Defence?????????????? So we can lose more of our soldiers due to crap kit? You can tell you have never served or had family serving. If anything we should spend more on defence. If you want more money in the highlands, try not spending it on stupid "art works" or multiple xmas dinners for council members. The money spent on the firework displays could be put to much better use. It goes on and on. The reason there is no money is because it spent in the wrong places but defence is not one of them.
  19. Heres hoping you get the right weather. Good luck.
  20. HT: 0 - 0 FT: 1 - 1 1st Scorer ICT: Foran 1st Scorer Opp: McManus Crowd: 2001
  21. Thanks very much. I hope you get up next season.............that will mean County don't ;)
  22. Don't care either way as long as we bring them back to the TCS and give them a good hammering just to rub it in. :D
  23. The questions Rooney, Foran, Hayes, etc need to ask themselves is, if they wish to get the Holy Grail (a.k.a the English premier League) is Aberdeen the right springboard club...no Hearts - Craig Gordon Hibs - Steven Fletcher Hamilton - James Mcarthy Rangers - Alan Hutton Motherwell - James McFadden I'd safely say modern Aberdeen are a players graveyard - any player lucky enough to shine amongst the dirge has been few and far between, home grown, and not excelled elsewhere anyway. Besides, they're broke and no chance of UEFA or Champions League. Best thing for the trio is to shine agin in the SPL ad earn a bigger, better, more lucrative move in season 2011/12 or 12/13 should they so wish...i don't think ICT holds any player back and is an excellent club to stand out in with players going to Celtic, Hibs, Watford...Aberdeen is a diddy team now. Conclusion: One more season at least please!!! Russel Anderson , Scott Severin , Barry Nicholson and Lee Miller have all moved onto bigger and better things since leaving Aberdeen . Russel Anderson - Derby Scott Severin - Kilmarnock :) Barry Nicholson - Preston Lee Miller - M'boro Middling Championship sides (and a gash SPL team...). Rooney, Foran, Hayes will be at that stage next season anyway. What they should aim at is regular football with a team in european comps in the SPL in a season or two. That's us isn't it?
  24. Johnboy Wish I'd thought of that, not a single vote.
  25. Renegade gets my vote because no matter how much sh1t he gets, he still keeps coming back for more.
