  1. Saturday's result and performance really emphasised two things. Firstly; It once again demonstrated the folly of sitting deep and trying to defend a lead. We have shown time and time again that that is not something at which we excel and are just not capable of certainly not for an hour or more. Even without an in form forward, we are much more effective staying on the front foot and going forward. I've lost count now of the times we have squandered a winning position to either draw or lose. Can we please concentrate on doing what we are effective at and stop trying to do what we are not ? Secondly; It's not Storey's fault that he is both out of goal scoring form and being played out of position but the last two Saturdays have shown that we need experienced striking options. It looks like we will be saving the salary of one experienced goalkeeper next season and I see no reason why we can't manage with at least two fewer midfielders in a squad top heavy with them. It's imperative that we put that cash into recruiting at least one and preferably two recognised forwards going into next season.
  2. Inverness Union would not necessarily delight those of us of a Nationalist persuasion
  3. I don't know about bum twitching but between 4th and 11th this must be one of the tightest and most competitive top leagues in Europe. Another vtal game today especially with some tough fixtures coming up now we are entering the business end of the season. Win today and we leapfrog our opponents into the top six breathing down County's neck for top Highland team yet again. Lose and we could be within a single point of the dreaded play off place. Today's one day I'd happily settle for a scrappy and fortunate win at Dens.
  4. Aye in footballing terms but the A96 is still as bl@@dy slow....
  5. On balance I would take a risk on Brill. In my view, while Fon Williams is a decent 'keeper, Brill is a better one.
  6. Memo to the young OP...Therein lies the peril of starting any thread with the word 'merger' in the title. We have a vital game tomorrow against a team we can leapfrog into the top six. Anyone fancy chatting about the football ?
  7. Actually, not a penny of that grant went on the stadium. I t went towards funding the access road which has opened up a previously inaccessible part of the waterfront from which the city has benefitted to the tune of many times that original modest grant. The stadium itself was funded by the proceeds of the sales of Kingsmills and Telford Street together with approximately half a million pounds from the original share issue and what in the end turned out to be far too much bank borrowing which at one point just around the time we were goingballistic at Parkhead threatened to send us into administration and which only eventually disappeared, or was spirited away with the establishment of the mysterious Charitable Trust.
  8. Brighton and Hove Albion has more words. The name reflects the shared heritage. you may recall there was a poll on the prospect of changing it to Inverness City when the town was awarded city status. That option was thankfully rejected. There are many Cities and Uniteds in the footballing world. There is only one Caledonian Thistle...
  9. Almost thirty hours to post in a thread with the word 'merger' in the title. You're slipping.....
  10. The CJT people are all volunteers giving off there time freely. Your previous analogy of a Coca Cola employee promoting Pepsi is simply not valid. It might be time for you to stop flogging this particular deceased equine....
  11. Dereliction of duty is a serious allegation and one completely without justification. Running buses to games, whether home or away, is not a competition but a service to fans. I don't hear CJT or anyone from them complaining. We have a great, if sometimes exclusive, band of away fans some of whom travel by bus but most of whom don't. If the Gellions regularly running a full bus helps add to our away support that can only be a good thing.
  12. You are perfectly free to move on from the past. We all have that's why we support the merged team but you are in no position to dictate to those of us who spent years or even decades standing on the terracing at Kingsmills and Telford Street that we should forget or ignore the past. ICT is now in our hearts us oldies just as much as the rest but young man we will continue to nurse our memories of two clubs both dating back to the 1880s there is nothing incompatible about looking to the future while, at the same time, respecting the past. By the way, this is a largely friendly forum of like minded people so nobody is likely to 'hate you' for your views as much as some of us may disagree.
  13. 1-0 to Motherwell after 65 mins.
  14. HT; Motherwell 0, ICT 0
  15. No credit to the bungling incompetent SFA who don't set ticket prices at this stage of the competition but credit to both clubs for agreeing sensible pricing of £20 for adults, £10 for students and pensioners and a highly reasonable £5 for under 18s.
  16. ...and if they did try to do both they would somehow contrive to drop the raffle tickets in the bath.....
  17. The SFA need to state publicly just why that could not have been announced within 24 hours of the Edinburgh Derby replay finishing. Agreed a disgrace.
  18. Less than two weeks until the match, much longer since the draw than it is to the match itself and we still don't know the day far less the time the game will be played. Plenty of people will now not be able to attend because cheaper travel and/or accommodation options will have gone and no doubt the Weegie press and media will be slating us again for a poor turn out. I know that the SFA have sold the soul of the competition to TV but the fact that no date has been confirmed is grossly unfair and a bigger farce than the draw itself. Increasingly clear that Scottish football needs a change at the top.
  19. Which is why, when he can't populate the bench with first team players, the manager should always give the place to a young player rather than just naming five or six subs which, apart from everything else, looks unprofessional.
  20. To be fair, all fans have been well warned that this sort of conduct can have criminal consequences. Hopefully it will serve as a lesson to any others similarly inclined. There is plenty of scope for witty and biting banter without crossing the line.
  21. Getting past Hibs to achieve first but if we do, a repeat of our very first semi final against Dundee please but with a different outcome and a different venue. ICT v Dundee at a near full Pittodrie rather than at Hampden with getting on for 40,000 empty seats.
  22. Pleased that we are going to Easter Road rather than Tynecastle not because I feared Hearts but because it will make a refreshing change.
  23. I think with their comprehensive defeat by Motherwell tonight, Dundee United have been effectively condemned to automatic relegation but boy does it liven up the battle to avoid the play off place. Nobody from fourth place down is more than a bad run of three games away from eleventh place. Every game for every club bar the Arabs between now and the split is vital. The Scottish Premiership is alive and vigorously kicking.
  24. I was not there so don't know the facts but how can you be so adamant in suggesting that Neksor is being untruthful when he was there and you, by your own admission were not ? It might be an idea to establish the facts before posting and it doesn't matter who might have 'started it' violence is wrong, it's criminal and does the reputation of the club no good at all.
