  1. That would be the Daily Retard who largely ignore us but devote 90% of their sports pages to Celtic and the lower league team that replaced Rangers. That would be Keith Jackson the 'journalist' who once described Craig Whyte as 'billionaire with wealth off the scale' and confidently hailed him as the saviour of his beloved Rangers. I agree that the club could very often handle communications better but why on earth should we give some sort of scoop to a poor apology for a journalist telephoning or emailing from the comfort of his office on the banks of the Clyde who think so little of the Highlands that they have no sports reporter based there ? How does he know that there is a 'tsunami of bad feeling' between the clubs when all Aberdeen have said is that they are confused and disappointed not to get their man and we've said nothing at all ? I note from another thread that Greg has removed the link in his Twitter account to his agent, or perhaps former agent, could it just be that the player himself holds the agent responsible rather than either of the clubs. If, as reported, there was an ambiguity in the contract surely it was the agent's job to ensure that the contract was drafted in such a way that there ought to have been no such confusion.
  2. ...and the Yogi connection.
  3. The sales have closed and we didn't get that shiny new striker we had our eye on but I wonder if there's still time for a late manager's special. It's not uncommon for players to come and work for managers they have enjoyed working for before. It was on that basis that Butcher attracted Ritchie Foran and before that Brian Thompson followed Pele from Huntly. So far, JH has not attracted any such former players but we were strongly linked with Anthony Stokes for that reason. We lost out on Stokes but, in Michael Higdon and Edward Ofere there are two experienced forwards both of whom have played for and enjoyed success under Yogi, both of whom are capable of easing some of the pressure on young Miles and both of whom are free agents and thus able to sign immediately. I would like to think we are still exploring these possibilities along with others.

I don't think there has been any confirmation that permission was ever given...
  5. Looks like bad handling to me or at least very poor communication. That said, the important thing is that the wrong has been quickly put right and things are now being dealt with in a proper and proportionate manner.

He could only terminate it if he could establish that the club were materially in breach of it. I doubt very much if that is the case but if it was he would them become a free agent, free to sign for any club including Aberdeen outwith the window.
  7. and credit to the OP for raising this issue which might otherwise have gone under the radar for most of us not directly involved or affected.
  8. At last, a mature, well considered and reasonable statement. It's just a pity that the situation was handled so badly in the first place but hopefully all concerned will learn and move on together in partnership. Enthusiastic young fans are not the enemy quite the contrary. Some may have acted immaturely but the initial knee jerk, unfairly blanket and high handed approach was just as unsatisfactory and immature in it's own way. Reach some common ground with these generally fantastic young ambassadors for the club and put this sorry business behind us.

No because it will be commercially confidential just as his release clause figure ought to have been...

Then just maybe your second paragraph answers the question posed in the first...
  11. So, to summarise, With Tansey thoroughly unsettled, Foran unlikely to feature and Meekings publicly at loggerheads with the manager, we only have Warren Draper and Esson reliably on board after the end of this season. A tad worrying...
  12. He does seem to like a midfielder or ten does Yogi....

If the Dons were that desperate to sign Tansey they could have easily found £200,000 up front. Their gate receipts from tomorrow evening's near sell out with Celtic will be a good deal more than that alone and then there's always Stewart Mine's hip pocket....
  14. I wonder if he was due to be a replacement for Tansey hence the signing not being completed.
  15. I have given him and all the others who give up their time and put a lot of effort due credit. They generally do sterling work often for little thanks. That doesn't alter the fact that on this occasion he seems to have got it badly wrong. Rather than trying to defend the indefensible or, just as bad, sitting in silence hoping that the fuss will die down it's time to admit the mistake and climb down from that high horse and put it right.

Disappointed we are still without forward cover. Pleased we didn't lose anybody but that pleasure will be less so if it turns out that we have been left with a player so upset that his form and commitment suffers. I don't know the details but if we'd played it differently could we have ended up with £200,000 for a player who fills a role we are well enough covered for and who will possibly be less effective now and got the experienced David Goodwillie to fill a role that we have been short on for a very long time as part of the bargain? Just a thought.

Should make for a cracking atmosphere when the Dons come a calling later in the month....injury time winner for ICT courtesy of a Tansey pile driver from 30 yards ?
  18. That statement from Mr Horne is very disturbing. It appears indeed that a whole bus has been banned due to the unspecified 'misbehaviour' of some. Those who give up their time for no reward to organise and run the buses are generally worthy of praise but this is an ill considered shambles and does them no credit at all and did a bus driver really complain that a bus load of excited young football fans had the temerity to sing football songs ? If so maybe he would be better employed driving Trappist monks between monasteries ....and the 'end of discussion' quote is just sheer high handed arrogance.

A forward on board and it would be a decent window...

Aberdeen not keen on paying up front ?
  21. There are a minority of posters on this thread causing those of us originally sympathetic to the original poster to begin to have second thoughts...
  22. Absolutely in both regards...
  23. Or, more specifically, Pacific Quay....

    Without doubt
  25. Maybe you should have waited to see what business is actually done, either incoming or outgoing, before starting this thread.
