  1. First of four crucial league games coming up in quick succession all against opposition within a few points of us in this very tight league. Eight points or more and we can think about top six yet again. Four points or fewer and we are likely to be in a relegation/play off dog fight. We are perfectly capable of winning or losing all four games. Crucial that we cut out these too regular defences lapses. Even more crucial that we concentrate for the full ninety minutes and injury time and prevent these late late goals that have damaged us so badly this season.
  2. Jim Calder was a fans favourite, an eccentric and a bit of a 'character. However, he was also a fine goalkeeper, a natural shop stopper and the man you would want in goal facing a penalty. It's true that he didn't play for us in the top league but that was simply a matter of timing as we were not in the top league in his day. He contributed fully to the famous 3-1 at Parkhead with two wonderful saves and could easily have played and held his own in the Premiership. We have been fortunate enough to have had some very decent 'keepers over the years but, for me, Jim Calder is the stand out.
  3. I think, on that one, we may have to agree to disagree.
  4. No, am assuming that they tried and failed.
  5. Was always likely to happen especially with Celtic's lapse of form. We should have been more savvy in our negotiations and agreed a season's long loan back.
  6. Great offers but, on this site, the club is largely preaching to the converted. The important thing is for this to be advertised as widely as possible to the general Invernessian public who are not regular visitors to the Longman other than to renew their car every couple of years.
  7. Not the boy's fault but it was abundantly clear from the second minute that Lewis Horner was out of his depth and having a torrid time leaving United free to rampage down the left for the whole of the game. For the manager to do nothing about it was unacceptable and given that we had an apparently fit David Raven on the bench it was more than unacceptable it was utterly bizarre. If rumours are correct that Raven is being sidelined due to a falling out with Yogi then that is pathetically petty and immature. We are a long way from being clear of relegation trouble and we need to have our best players playing. I am convinced that if we had had our best fit XI on the park on Saturday we would not have dropped two points to the most underperforming team in the league and there would now be more comfortable clear daylight between us and bottom place.
  8. As far as home grown talent is concerned, Liam's progress has been largely overshadowed by that of Ryan Christie and there is no doubt that young Ryan's progress from youth to first team has been more rapid and that he matured and developed more quickly than Liam However, after a couple of false starts, Liam is now coming into his own and beginning to show his true potential. Personally, I believe he may go on to be at least as talented and possibly even more influential than Ryan. For that reason I believe that one of the best pieces of business we do in January is to secure him on a three and a half year contract. Such is his potential talent I fear that he is bound to move onto 'better' and much higher paid things sooner or later but that way we will at least get full value for him when he goes rather than being somewhat short changed as we were with Ryan.
  9. One may very well be at risk of drowning in the bath but we take basic precautions such as keeping our heads above the water. Similarly a very basic precaution against terrorist attacks which do happen is to make sure bags and packages are not left unattended. Conspiracy theories are all very entertaining but add nothing to the serious debate and certainly don't assist with the solution.
  10. Aside from being off topic, pathetic simply pathetic.
  11. Usually on TV or radio it's a prediction of elemental conditions for a period in the future.
  12. No longer viable from a commercial point of view but oh for the days when all that was on the front of the shirt was the club badge and the only thing on the back a number....and one to eleven at that.
  13. and once you've watered your hat a decent tea or coffee wouldn't go amiss
  14. Would settle for them in as caterers....
  15. Surely, in the current climate, a little bit of additional security and the minor inconvenience of retrieving a bag is a price worth paying to keep people safe.
  16. Popped 'Overthebridge' for a brief lurk ahead of the derby. I note that the same individual has an identical thread promoting his new County site.
  17. I disagree. Sponsors are much more interested in the status of the sponsored 'product' and exposure in newspapers and TV rather than the few thousand fans who go through the gate at most Premiership matches. Given that Dundee are far from being an established top tier club who have had little recent success beyond winning the old First Division compared to the fact that we have been top tier regulars for all but one of the last ten seasons, have been in two major cup finals, winning one and have played in Europe, I would be surprised and disappointed if we have not managed to negotiate a better deal than them. I would hope that our terms would be close to, if not on a par with, those of United.
  18. I don't know about other clubs but, while that is a good and fair idea in principle, margins at ICT are so tight we probably can't afford to do that.
  19. For the avoidance of doubt, my 'like' is for the information rather than the result....
  20. Kingsmills replied to a post in a topic in Caley Thistle
Apart from securing Miles Storey until the end of the season or, better still, signing him on a pre contract, the best 'deal' we could do is get a fit Ryan Christie back until May.
  21. Suggestion is that BT Sports are paying two million pounds a season for the additional rights. Roughly £50,000 per participating club.
  22. I agree to a certain extent but he ought to have had the wit to anticipate and deflect the question.
  23. I agree with that. Nor do I think Yogi has covered himself in glory with his public utterings. He is quoted in today's Scotsman as saying there are trust issues with the club. Perhaps they might go a long way to being resolved if he learned to keep what should be private and internal club matters just that.
  24. A bit of a concern that we only have three of the squad who are likely to be fit to play signed beyond the end of this season. Much work to be done and soon.
  25. Tricky away tie for our beloved neighbours.
