We should have beaten an off form Rangers side early last season, if Celtic are going to start badly this year let's hope we can take advantage.

It appears that Tam McManus may be available on a free transfer after refusing to take another pay cut at Dundee. I know that his last two seasons have been blighted by injury but we do need another experienced forward and the last injury prone striker we recruited has certainly proved himself. Worth offering him a contract until january ?

At least the team have had a more meaningful test than the strolls in the sun against poor opposition we've had so far. Denzil's continuing lack of sharpness in front of goal is a worry.

Have to agree that straightforward sponsorship is muchsimpler and easier to administer.

Duncan remains a very competent player but we didn't pay £65,000 for Rankin to leave him, or even start him, on the bench.

Marty, I suppose that the main problem in recruiting an experienced forward is the lack of availability coupled with the expense.

I agree with Scotty, the only player the squad is lacking is another experienced forward.

I know that, on the face of it, we've had a good pre season scoring barrowloads of goals and conceding none. However, I'm a little concerned that when the season starts we will have had only one genuinely challenging match against Sheffield United and even that will hae all the hallmarks of a testimonial with numerous substitutions including a fair number of guest players. Charlie and Donald obviously know what they are doing but I'd have liked to have seen at least one other game against higher standing opponents.
