Relegation From SPFL
The new stadium at Kingsford will still be closer to the city centre than Cove's ground and a good deal more accessible. Still, Cove are well organised and have a bit of money behind them. I wouldn't be surprised to see them become a fixture in the SPFL.

Austin to Kelty Hearts?!
A late late contender for the most ridiculous post of the season.

Post-Season Summary/Rant(?)
I don't see that changing any time soon. The team are just going to train in a library to get used to the atmosphere.

Might reverse the home and away kits ! Other than that, a great idea.

Relegation From SPFL
Congratulations to Cove for winning the battle of the Rangers 7-0 in aggregate to become the first Highland League club promoted to the Scottish League on sporting merit. Should have been a possibility over a century ago. It would be good if the vacancy now arising in the HL was filled by a team from traditional Highland League territory rather than Aberdeenshire or a suburb of Aberdeen.

Post-Season Summary/Rant(?)
They might try coming along to the stadium in the first place. That said, we definitely need to improve our home form next season if we are going to stand a realistic chance of promotion.

It would probably take signing Messi and Ronaldo for us to get more Invernesians through the turnstiles. If winning the Scottish Cup didn't do it, having Fraser Fyvie in the squad certainly won't.

Post-Season Summary/Rant(?)
I agree. We have a real chance of promotion next season but we need to be quicker out of the blocks and convert far more of the chances we get and that includes any penalties we are awarded. For those criticising how we did this season, given that we have the sixth biggest budget in the division, does finishing third and being the only Championship side to progress as far as we did in a major knock out tournament not represent a fair measure of success ?

Dundee Utd -V- Inverness CT (playoff leg 2)
The tie turned on two poor refereeing decisions. In the first leg, we were in control and certainly not heading for defeat until a very harsh straight red left us with ten players for virtually half of that match and without one of our most influential players for tonight. Tonight we were again more than holding our own until the harshest hand ball penalty I've seen in years. I do not generally believe in conspiracies but the football authorities have got the play off finalist from the Championship they wanted. Neither of those decisions would have gone our way had the boot been on the other foot. That said, it was never a level playing field and it's no coincidence that the two teams who have bettered us in the division both have wealthy backers which enabled them to make wholesale improvements to their squads in January. Our position off the field is not good from a financial perspective but there is scope for optimism on it. We improved on last season with a smaller budget and, assuming Robbo gets a budget that is not further trimmed too much next season I believe we have a very good chance of going one better. We finished best of the teams in the Championship playing on a financially level playing field and should be proud of the manager, coaches and players. Our under eighteens have had a great season and hopefully two or three can step up. Great disappointment tonight but tempered with pride in the team and our loyal fans and genuine optimism for the future.

Maybe some of those travelling from Inverness by car who have spare seats could volunteer to take some of those who have been too late to get a seat on the bus.

Do or die - Dundee Utd (A), Fri 17th May
This is a thread to discuss our most important match in years not misinformation about travel arrangements. Can we stick to doing just that please. We have won at Tannadice very recently and there's no reason why we can't do so again. All the pressure will be on United and very little expectation of us especially from the neutrals. We can do this.

We would be better trying to persuade the 95% of Invernesians who seem to participate in it to end their boycott of East Longman.

The best answer to that is to make sure tomorrow that 'the rest of' Dundee United's season consists of no more than 90 or, at the very most, 120 minutes. However, in the spirit of friendliness towards our opponents, can I wish them well in all four Dundee derbies next season.

No idea about his qualities but delighted to see us get another bit of business completed early despite the continuing uncertainty about which division we will be kicking off next season in.
