I will take that: a home game we should win, and we’ve avoided Championship teams.

They are top of League 2 so another team we should not under estimate.

Yeah should be decent, I was hoping for an away tie v Linlithgow, Talbot or Pollok but at least we’ve got a relatively straight forward game.

As a club have the custodians consolidated that we are a championship outfit, maybe once in a blue moon we might get a chance for a year or two in the SPL although even that seems unlikely as the years pass by!

Without a serious cash injection or a Uncle Roy appearing over the horizon I tend to think that we have reached our correct level in the Scottish game.

I think our fan base or what’s left of it have resigned to the fact we are, a result like yesterdays debacle would have sparked outrage on here in the past but it’s passed with hardly a whimper reading the match thread etc.

I still think they the board are heading us down the part time football route at some point similar to the model that Arbroath are adopting but I sincerely hope I’m wrong

    Thoughts?

Absolutely we are a championship club. We have no right to think we are anything more. There’s clubs lower down than us with greater supports.

If we were lucky enough to get up to the Prem though I wouldn’t see any reason why we couldn’t hold our own once there. You only have to look at how we succeeded last time or look at the likes of Livi, County, St Mirren etc.

After the last 3 absysmal performances I think I'm justified plus I'm allowed to state my opinion, something a few on here would do well to remember!

Where’s Peter Pan tonight ? I’d have thought you’d be an actual adult but after 10 years of this I’ve discovered maybe you’re actually just a forever child. Fair post

  4. I'm looking to see if there is anyone that is able to provide the squads for the early seasons.  If we have an accurate list of player transfers that would work instead?

    Squad for 1994/95, 95/96, 96/97 97/98 and 98/99

I've seen some old match reports from the current match day previews that display starting line ups from this era. I've had a quick look around but unable to see if these are located on the site for me to look through.

    Any help would be appreciated.

It’s also 3 teams that I can recall that fielded ineligible players in this tournament, with Hibs, Elgin and Stranraer getting results overturned and financial penalties.

There must be dozens of examples of ineligible players since ICT were formed but as far as I can recall it’s not a mistake we have ever made, is that the case?

Did it not happen to Hearts v Cove? Which resulted in Hearts only getting a 2 point deduction rather than 3. I might be wrong but if it was 3 points we might have progressed ?

The seeded teams for the last 16 are the five clubs in Europe plus the three group winners with the best records.

The other five group winners plus the three runners up with the best records are unseeded.

That’s pretty unfair to be honest. Why is there seeding ? It ruins any chance of a smaller side getting far in this competition

  7. I don’t mind signing a few unknowns but if we’re serious about winning this league we need to go out and get a couple established players like we did with Bingham and Wilson in 2003. As for who that may be? I’ll leave that to Robbo again.

  8. What a great feeling around the club again at the moment. I just wish the crowds at these past two games was bigger, I guess that’s the down side of having them on tv.

I can’t help but think of all the abuse Dodds was getting earlier in the season. If I was told we would have finished 3rd and in the semi finals of the playoffs at the start of the season I would have bitten your hand off.

Football fans are so fickle aren’t they?

Well I suppose that the players deserve credit for getting back to winning ways so maybe Tuesday was just a bad day at the office but tbh my post was aimed at the inconsistency against the bottom half teams 😁

Morton are a bottom half side. Im glad we didn’t manage to sell MacGregor before he scored the winner today though. I’m looking forward to your reaction on Friday night 👌

What is the issue with the "crappy badge"? Does it peel off easy or something?

The old embroidered badges just looked better. I haven’t had any issues with these new modern badges peeling or anything. They do however look naff with that extra bit of white background.

  11. Except for Darran Thomson! He’d still be rubbish.

What I’d give to have those problems again. The worst of it was Keogh unable to score, at least until that game at Clyde which made up for it all.

Certainly since we were promoted to the 1st division in 1999-2000, the season we beat Celtic the first time. The standard has dropped overall in 20 years and as I was saying to the guys at EEP last week, the team that reached the cup semi in 2004 and finished champions would walk this league.

I don't think that Kilmarnock appointing Derek Mcinnes improves their prospects.

He may be relatively high profile, almost certainly the highest paid manager in the division but his last few seasons at Aberdeen were distinctly mediocre despite having the third highest player budget in the Premiership nor does he have any experience of the Championship.

Time will tell but I don't think that the appointment will work out well for our promotion rivals.

I have to disagree. Finishing 4th with the 3rd highest budget in 2 of the last 3 complete seasons isn’t mediocre. He done very well at Aberdeen in my opinion. It’s a great signing for Killie and I’d be very surprised now if they don’t go on and win this league.  Judging by where Aberdeen are now maybe the fans now are realising you don’t just get rid of a good manager just because you are bored.

  13. If Killie get McInnes then I have no doubt in my mind that they’ll win the league and we’ll be second. It could possibly still be enough if we strengthen wisely in this window. I don’t think the 11th placed team will be too far infront of us in terms of quality.

I understand that in the English Premiership over a quarter of the players have refused to be vaccinated which may be contributing to the slew of postponements we are seeing just now.

I would hope that at our level such selfish lunacy is much less prevalent.

    What’s selfish about that?

Creativity is a problem. Gardyne provided some and won't play again so he needs replaced.

Doran is getting a good run in the team. He is looking leaner and last night I thought he was looking slightly better than a very average performance that we are used to this season. Really need him to kick on and contribute some assists and goals.

I do think we have looked better when Sutherland plays in behind McKay as he runs beyond the last man but we need Walsh, Roddy, Doran etc to do the same starting from the wide areas then driving into the middle on the last man's shoulder. Sometimes our play is pretty but easy to defend against.

There is lots to fix, but if we do fix them, we are starting from a great position...well in the league anyway.

I felt Doran was a bit scared to get forward on the break and often slowed the pace right down allowing Morton to regroup. Once this happened we had no plan to get through and they dealt with it easily enough. We’re missing Gardyne just now and we really need to look at getting in someone similar in the next window, especially if we’re serious about winning this league.

Their ground looks like it was built in the 15th century. Small club.

One of my favourite grounds, when it’s packed it’s a great atmosphere. Apart from the Cappielow Kiosk the facilities for the club do seem pretty poor though.

In all fairness, nobody is 'flogging' the book on this site.

A regular poster posted a link which is perfectly legitimate given Robbo's long standing connection to the club.

    Apologies I meant on ictfc
