Hibs -V- Inverness CT : Match Thread
Sounds as if we have acquitted ourselves well but sadly no shock. Let's now concentrate on getting second in the league and have a real go at getting up via the play offs. Other than D Utd, no one to fear in the championship and over 2 legs against 11th in the premiership we'll be in with a fighting chance.

Hibs pre match
Best of luck to the team this evening. Currently abroad on holiday (not good planning) so will tune in to watch. Would be great to add another cup scalp to our long list...................

Agree (although have not been to that many games since leaving Inverness). ICT used to be a good team to watch and were was always in with a shout of scoring / getting one over on any team, No longer seems to be the case (given my experience over the last 4/5 years). Maybe that is a commentary on Scottish football in general. A lack of creativity seems to be the main problem. Frustrating we can't seem to take advantage when teams around us drop points. Essential we finish second and hope Hearts don't finish 11th in the premiership!

Ayr Utd -V- Inverness CT
Until we gather a bit of consistency, it is always going to be a struggle. A few weeks ago, it looked as if we were virtually nailed on for second spot, but now it's not looking so positive. The team must start winning more matches and gain a bit of momentum which would stand us in good stead in the play offs.

Inverness CT -V- QOS
Let's not jump the gun folks. We've made a solid start to the season and on present form no reason we can't put Utd under pressure. Even if they end up winning the league no reason we can't finish second : I would fancy us against any team finishing second bottom of the top league (albeit we would have to win the 2nd/3rd 'semi final' first. Just keep racking up wins so the team gain a winning mentality.

Inverness CT -V- Morton
Great result ............................ as long as we kick on from this. The Arabs will be tough to keep up with but if we can start knocking in a few goals who knows? Hopefully last night's result will instil a bit of confidence in the whole team. First half was pretty uninspiring although we just about deserved to be ahead at the break and once we scored the second we seemed to grow in confidence. No reason we can't finish second (being realistic) although I would just love us to edge out Utd (especially after last season)

League Cup Draw
ICT are notoriously slow starters : need to start on the front foot both in cup and league and not be left playing catch up. We always seem to stick to a Highland tour for pre season matches : maybe a step up in quality of opposition might help the team in these early games?

Dundee Utd -V- Inverness CT (playoff leg 2)
As always different folks see things in a variety of ways. I feel we were really close to getting past the Arabs . A couple of dubious (that's being kind) refereeing decisions certainly didn't help but the bottom line is we failed to score a goal over 180 + minutes. A lack of creativity and sharpness up front is clear for all to see. We were on top for a lot of the time (especially at Tannadice) but didn't make it count when it mattered. Here's hoping we can solve this issue next season.

Play offs
Which I guess reinforces the point the original and subsequent posters made. The dead wood self preservation types in charge of Scottish football need to be moved on . Let's hope ICT can make it a first..................

Play offs
No, I was referring to the Scottish championship and the fact that should a 3rd / 4th placed team make it to the play off final, they would end up playing three 2 legged matches (in a pretyty short period), whereas the premiership team only have to play one 2 legged match.

Play offs
As I've said before, only the Scottish football authorities could dream up such a skewed play off system. Would be interesting to know whether a 3rd / 4th placed Championship team has actually achieved promotion?

Inverness CT -V- Dunfermline
Well done to all : third place is the best we could have hoped for realistically. Play offs will be tough given the 'only in Scotland could that be dreamt up' format but on the positive side, the opposition are no great shakes. Looks like St Mirren will be the PL second bottom team : would certainly prefer them to Hamilton

Crowds.
Had a quick look at the crowds for this season. Seem to be holding up pretty well in the circumstances (Championship and pretty poor fare): most matches over 2,000. Don't think they were much higher in our SPL days?? It always amazed me that the higher we went in the leagues (as well as gathering a few notable cup scalps), the lower the crowds became. A bit of it down to the novelty factor wearing off?

Polworth to Motherwell
We've lost players in the past and will again in the future. Let's concentrate on the play offs and see where that takes us.
