Wick Academy 24 July
So is it fair to say that we actually perform better without Terry? I'm obviously being there but we were pretty faultless at Arbroath, and last season our season got going when Terry got banned and we humped Dundee Utd with Mo in charge.

Was Mo in charge again for this game?

Arbroath
First time I've seen him and yes he looked good - nippy and skillful. Williams combining with Shinnie on the left could be a potent weapon for us.

Also saw Tony Bullock in the pre-match warm up but he never got a game, alas. He's a player coach now, and no doubt spends a lot of time doing handling work with the kids.

Indeed. Sheerin's lack of mobility these days (and that's not another reference to his driving ban) probably played a part in our dominance, but he still has the vision, touch and superb passing ability. Bayne was never the quickest but can only be described as "lumbering" now and rarely got anywhere near the ball.

So, all in all not one of the best days he's had!

Slight correction to that - Foran was actually in central midfield and Vincent was in a more advanced central position in a 4-2-3-1.

Apparently he'll serve his suspension on Thursday when St Johnstone play Rosenborg.

£8, 8 goals. I quite like the idea of paying £1 per goal for all future games I go to.

Someone who won't be driving to Arbroath is their manager and ex-ICT star Paul Sheerin, who got banned today for being twice the legal drink drive limit. Never thought he was such an idiot.

Hopefully it's only a case of "mechaphilia". http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/2000899/Man-admits-having-sex-with-1000-cars.html

U20s
SPL U20 league fixtures have been announced. http://www.scotprem.com/content/default.asp?page=s2&newsid=12421 It appears that the league has had an extra place created this season to allow Rangers back in. Anyone know how that happened?

Pre-season games just don't get me excited but this is one of my favourite grounds so I'll be there. When we last played there it was disappointing to see that the old pub at the harbour had closed down. It had become something of a tradition that Mantis & co would be sat in the corner drinking rum and singing sea shanties before the game.

What Would You Pay For A Glamour Friendly?
I'd say £30 for the likes of Barca would still be very good value.

He's wrong. I demand a statement from the board.

Ben Greenhalgh - Football's Next Star
If you look up pronunciation websites (of which there are surprisingly many) you'll find that the recognised options are "Green-halj", "Green-holsh", "Greenhalsh", "Greenhawlsh". Whichever, the "gh" is most definitely not silent as you suggest. I suspect the reporter in the clip above was trying to pronounce it in the way Ben had advised. The name has nordic origins meaning something like "green island" and originates from Lancashire where there was a village and castle of that name. Isn't it great that we are discussing the issues that really matter!
