  1. Here's James Vincent in action. Looks like he's a straight replacement for Shane.....
  2. If we get our squad sorted out in the next few days, what are we going to to talk about for the next 2 months?
  3. BBC reporting that we are in talks with Kidderminster's James Vincent. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22619453

When the draw gets made, will whoever Saints get be the same team that we would have got, or does it not work like that?
  5. Sheffield United want permission to speak to Stuart McCall. If he goes, I guess Derek Adams returning to Motherwell as manager might seem quite an obvious move. And if all that happens, who would take over at County? Craig Brewster? Please?
  6. He's not crazy, he's just an East European hitman who was seeking inspiration for his next project.
  7. No jets involved, he's just doing a traditional epic quest on foot through Mordor with his much sought after ring.
  8. Better still, Terry should get him to face County next time!
  9. It's good to see that attendances have held up well, but you've got to bear in mind the fixtures were kinder to us this season. You expect to get near sell-outs against Celtic, Rangers and County. This season we got 4 such games, last season just 3. Also consider that we are comparing a season of mostly 2nd/3rd from top with a season of mostly 2nd/3rd from bottom. Hopefully the big improvement this season will boost season ticket sales.

Would Partick fancy someone with Hogg's SPL experience?

For the 3 cup semi-finals we were a 1st Division side and just delighted to be there and having a great day out. I'm also not sure for which of those cup games we actually knew at the time that a win would guarantee Europe. For the Dunfermline replay we most definitely knew. For me the Dundee Utd game was the sickener. That was the only game that we were expected to win. That was our chance.

I've just realised that, as incredible as it may seem, ICT have on 5 separate occasions been 90 minutes away from qualifying for Europe, but never managed to get the win that would have got us there. In 3 of the 5 games we even took the lead. 2003 Scottish Cup semi-final v Dundee 0-1. Dundee qualified as losing finalists and beat an Albanian side before going out to Perugia. 2004 Scottish Cup semi final v Dunfermline 1-1. The Pars also qualified as losing finalists and lost home and away to Hafnarfjordur from Iceland. 2004 Scottish Cup semi-final replay v Dunfermline 2-3. 2013 v Dundee Utd 1-2 2013 v County 0-1 So perhaps we ought to be used to coping with the disappointment, but the last 2 chances were the only real sore ones because we weren't the underdogs.
  13. SPL also unable to ascertain whether or not the Pope is Catholic.
  14. Hearts staying up due to lack of evidence that they or their parent are insolvent. SPL statement: "The board are not satisfied on the basis of information currently available to it that an insolvency event as defined by SPL rules occurred in respect of UBIG during 2012/13."

I've just worked out that in that same time period, bottom sides St Mirren and Dundee each picked up 16 points, from one game fewer.

We didn't release him, his contract ended and he just ceased to be an ICT player! Hogg needs regular first team football to rebuild his career and I just doubt he's in Butcher's starting XI plans ahead of Warren and Meekings, who have both been tremendous this season. It would be great to have him as back up and competition, but that's an expensive option for us if he retained a senior pro salary, and I don't think it would really suit the player either.
  17. With the benefit of hindsight, we now know that we actually became safe from relegation on 22 December. That day we beat Dundee 4-1 at home to move onto 33 points, in a season when the relegated team ended up with 30 points. I'm pretty sure that must be the earliest we have ever crossed the survival line. And with all the fears last summer about our ability to stay up, being safe before Christmas is something that none of us would have contemplated.

Exactly, it's baffling that some people seem so keen to perpetuate the myth that he said it was a blessing, or that he is somehow relieved that we didn't qualify and doesn't was us in Europe. All he said in a "brave face" context is that we aren't really geared up for European football yet. But anyone who thinks he or the club don't share the fans' desire to finish 3rd and qualify for European football needs to think again.
  19. Could someone video this and upload it please.

Let there be no doubt that Terry is as gutted as anyone about not getting 3rd place and Europe. He's simply trying to put a brave face on it in saying our failure removes certain problems from the table. But as far as I can see from the BBC article he never actually used the word "blessing" and that just looks like the journalist's caption on the brave face approach. Did he actually say it?
  21. I think it is fair to say that our pursuit of European glory was more Bonnie Tyler than Bucks Fizz.

Here's a crazy thought for you. If we had made it to Europe and had, say, 500 fans willing to spend £500 each following us on our travels....that's £250,000 that those people could now donate to the player budget instead!

The bright side for me is that I don't need to shell out on getting my expired passport renewed, for another year at least.

If you think we've had a bad day, our old SPL sparring partners Dunfermline have just been relegated for the 2nd consecutive season.
  25. Terry might know something about that...
