The old Caley v Leicester City friendly.
I was there and still have the match programme at my parents house (100 miles away so i can't look it up!). It was a midweek evening match in the early 80's, and I'm pretty sure Leicester were in the top flight at the time. You are right about Lineker, and I think Steve Lynex was also a big player for them at the time. The fixture was arranged when we sold Kevin MacDonald to them. Leicester won 4-0, which somewhat flattered them, and I recall Caley had a good penalty shout turned down.

Probably unhappy about the 75% pay cut imposed on him by Duff & Phelps.

Ah, but what if during construction they uncover an ancient gypsy burial site?

Toronto FC - Dream Job
Best of luck to him. Got me thinking, what if ICT were running a contest like this for a similar role? Would we end up with IHE as "the face of ICT", (or the ugly face of football)? Post match interviews with the manager would certainly be interesting. Terry: Why am I having to lie on a couch for this? And shouldn't you be holding a microphone rather than a voddie'n'coke? IHE: Yet more deflection. Now, tell me about your father.....

Ross County eye Inverness ground share
Might be wrong but I recall that part of the deal was that if the pitch needed to be relaid, we paid for it. I also have a recollection that the "rent" was £35,000 per game but I don't know if that included or excluded all the extra costs like stewarding. The rent for us would be more realistically based on whatever County charged us for the cup game we played there.

Doubt it, for reasons of car parking for away fans.

I'd be more concerned about stipulating that the seats must be thoroughly disinfected after each game. If this back-up plan does need to be invoked, it would be a bit weird if they are the home team in a derby at TCS and our fans only get the South Stand.

I'll have you know that I am a former athletics champion - Kinmylies Obstacle Race circa 1982. There was skill involved in that, unlike these simple "one leg in front of the other" events that you call sport!

Robert Eagle signed for Lowestoft Town a few weeks ago, and scored on his debut in the Suffolk Cup against Kirkley & Pakefield.

He could go missing in training too, though, that was the problem.

Rebuild this Summer or Not?
Surely the idea of "Rebuild this summer" is something that is now a reality for us every season, given that every summer about half our squad will be out of contract, and anyone really good will get better offers elsewhere?

Turning this on its head somewhat, is there not a case that athletes should be able to take whatever they want? It's the only way to get a level playing field, given that current rules clearly do not prevent cheating. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with sportsmen getting a helping hand from artificial means, given that many already benefit artificially from the use of superior and more technoligically advanced equipment (the GB track cycling team being a case in point).

I would guess that the likes of athletics and cycling are more prone to have drug cheats because success in those sports depends so heavily on individual physical performance. Dare I say it, there's not a huge amount of skill involved, it's all about stregth and stamina. In sports like football though, physical performance is only one of many aspects that are needed to succeed, so players are perhaps less likely to risk throwing away their careers for something that would only enhance one part of their game.

Manager satisfaction survey
True to my word, a prize draw has been made, and the winner of Rangers FC is.........IHE. To collect your prize you need to go in person to Ibrox, preferably next time there is a baying mob outside, and as proof of ID please reveal all your tattoos.

If Rangers go then the SPL should disolve
From BBC: "Inverness chairman Kenny Cameron says they will have no set agenda when it is represented at the forthcoming meeting of the 10 non Old Firm clubs in response to Rangers' uncertain future. He told BBC Scotland they didn't want to capitalise on Rangers' problems and they see the meeting as an opportunity to move Scottish football forward. There has been speculation that some of the smaller clubs want to extract a better deal from the SPL in the new climate. He also confirmed that the Rangers administrators have now paid £25,000 of the £40,000 owed for tickets for the Ibrox club's visit last month and that he expected the full balance to follow soon."

I guess the difference might be that he is still reaping the benefits of all the muscle that the banned drugs helped build up, thus giving him an unfair advantage.

Manager satisfaction survey
Following on from the discussion taking place on another thread, I thought it might be useful to gauge fans' opinion by way of a poll. Participants will be eligible for a free prize draw in which they can win Rangers Football Club. To claim prize, winner must undergo a fit and proper person test, the results of which will be conveniently ignored.

That's a good article, clears up some of the things I had been wondering about.
