Kingsmills must you continually berate the manager who brought us our greatest glories, show a bit of gratitude will you It is not a fair impression you give to the younger generation.
  2. I haven't seen anything about this but if it is true I am sure Richie feels he must fit in with his plans

Surely you can excuse Scarlet's gaffe C B after all he had just seen a shining light named Foran arise.
  4. Martin Dowden what are you like? Is this the start of another..... undermine ICTFC campaign. In answer to your last paragraph.......Yes we did!
  5. A huge undertaking For one who is inexperienced yet I have a good feeling about it. You cannot fault his attitude and the Board is obviously right behind him two very important factors. I just hope the fans will give him their full support and not rush into slagging him off if things don't go too well as he implements change to our style of play. These things generally take time to materialise into the required strategy. Will be interesting to see who he now brings in to the squad to give us the impetus to get the ball in the back of the net. The very best of luck Richie, I am sure you will be a success. What a step up for you, not many people lead a Premier side for their first foray into management. An exciting season ahead methinks.
  6. Got a feeling that might have been the Rossleigh Garage took over.
  7. Got me there Mr J Watt, our cowboy land was the canal banks and Torvean (Sandy Braes).... the rest of my time was down the Bught playing football. Sorry can't #help you with that one..................Scarlet might help you though.
  8. Snorbens Just stumbled across this page, brought back a lot of vague memories, recognised a few faces but not the names in the '53 film apart from one Sandy Coote of the eighth and further on Bill MacDonald at the back where you thought Herb MacDonald may #have been.

D D already we are beginning to see eye to eye, the malt sounds good and so is your last quote re Foran. If things turn out well I may give you a glass...cheers
  11. Where are the goals coming from? That will be dependant on the style of play but I think there are plenty possibilities as most of the squad have made the net bulge at one time or another. Mutumbo gets a yes from me I like the enigma touch to him too.......very useful.

DoofersDad, you see it your way I see it mine. I don't think we will agree on this one so rather than draw this out any further let's just hope we can both find a way to get behind the new regime. Incidentally that seven year old who applied for the Manager's job, have to rule him out I'm afraid, He might want one of his mates to replace our Raven!

There are times Kingsmills when people have to stick up for themselves, especially when he thought he was doing things for the betterment of the Club as well as himself, There are two sides to most coins!

An excellent post indeed by D D if you are looking to set out a case for the Board against Hughes. Sadly it is flawed, It reads as if T B was a very successful manager compared to J H which indeed he was not. Yes, he did leave us in 2nd position thanks to the players that had been found for him, and yes following the J H induction period there was a long succession of very poor results but that was because the team was learning a very different but much more effective style of play. We came through the bad period and our style of play flourished so much so that other Clubs tried to follow suit. We were playing great football until the unfortunate spate of injuries started and our squad was becoming more and more depleted as we lost some of our most successful players J H had to find replacements quickly, I'm sure the board responded in the best way they thought they could but the money allocation or the calibre of player for the money just was not there, more injuries came along and things became frantic for a manager who was doing his best to recapture a period of superb play and results. Our play became bitty and we slumped in style and performance. How frustrating that must have been for a manager trying to build back into a successful winning squad. He knew he could work wonders for the Club and he really wanted to prove that. ''If it ain't broke don't fix it'' is a relatively new saying and one which stifles innovation. Our new style when we had the players to operate it was the best we ever had and brought us to the highs we had aspired to achieve. I really believe he would have gone on to even greater heights should circumstances have been more conducive. Anyway he still has my gratitude for what he has done for ICT.
  15. Well at least the new manager can't get slated if they were not his choice. Oh but then I am not so sure about that, it could depend on his management history.

Good luck to Yogi, He did us proud and who knows what could have happened if the money was there and the Board gave him their backing. I for one give a big thank you to the man and his vision of how football should be played, glimpses we saw when we were at our best. I only hope his possession and passing style can be adapted and adopted into a more offensive strategy by the new regime.
  18. The Raven will fly again, ........ Welcome back David
  19. There's also the local guy Forty Packets or the Welsh lad of German extraction Reece Otto

  21. Good interpretation, well said. It also strikes me as if when J H went to the board to ask for money to buy cover he was given inadequate allowance to achieve his selection and had to settle with what he would get at the price. So much anti Hughes speculation on this thread, disgusting, after what he has achieved, no other manager has done this for us. I think it is time some people should think a bit deeper, analyse thoroughly why we haven't achieved their expectations and set realistic targets for the future. That includes the Board and some so called supporters. Must say I laughed at some comment about John not showing the fans enough respect !!!!!!
  22. Could even have passed on Scarlet.
  23. Billy small k on the radar......hope we can afford him.
