  1. And also roughly 8 years ago to when the club returned to the Caledonian Stadium under player/manager Craig Brewster and went on a run of 7 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses from the third round of SPL games, securing our survival in the SPL much against everyone's expectation.

Busted... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/cycling/lancearmstrong/9810985/Lance-Armstrongs-interview-with-Oprah-Winfrey-analysed-by-body-language-expert.html Professor from Glasgow University explains why Armstrong not actually showing remorse.

    Q. Did you ever take banned substances to enhance cycling performance? A. Yes Q. Was one of those substances EPO? A. Yes. Q. Did you use any other banned substances? A. Yes
  4. not racist at all ! That type of scam is officially known as a 419 scam and named after the part of the Nigerian criminal code which it breaks ! Although Nigeria is now only 3rd on the list of countries where it tends to come from. The USA and UK are 1st and 2nd in the list of countries where some form of 419 scam is being attempted to try and get those details from naive users. There's even a site dedicated to scamming the scammers ... 419eater.com from memory.
  5. Based on Yngwie's logic I hope Ennis is the winner then! A highly politically correct 'short' list. Murray doesn't lack personality, we don't all have to be like Davina McCall (plus Michael Owen, a personality free zone, won) but I think he cooked his SPOTY goose with the ABE comments however many years back, joking or otherwise but (and I'm English) I think he'd be the most deserving winner. I just can't take the TdF seriously after the scandal.
  6. Hmm I think I saw I. Vigurs scored in some match somewhere.
  7. The Green Brigade are boycotting fixtures because the police won't let them take knives in any more.
  8. I know, these terrible minimum wage jobs where you can be sacked with no notice and no compensation...!
  9. Firstly the liquidators of old Rangers have no call on the money. The money was paid by Rangers (or MIH) into a trust and (the way these things normally operate) this is an irrevocable payment. So in theory the trustee could call for repayment of the loans, but what would they do with the money then? The objectives of an "Employee Benefit Trust" are to benefit employees so all the trustee can do is find another way of benefiting the employees in question. Secondly it has never been alleged that EBT's are illegal. There's even legislation governing how they are taxed (the company doesn't get a tax deduction until the payment is taxed in hand of the employee). The issues were only (i) whether Rangers had done their paperwork correctly and (ii) whether HMRC could claim the arrangements were a sham. Obviously they lost both of these points, at least so far. Thirdly the point as to what precipitated Rangers insolvency. Well as I read it at the time, HMRC told Whyte that even if they lost the case they would appeal indefinitely (in my opinion an unlawful abuse of public money but that's another matter), so Whyte was left with the situation that he could recapitalise Rangers only for HMRC to take all the money anyway. Nobody in their right mind is going to put money into a company under those circumstances hence liquidation become inevitable.
  10. Turns out that they didn't have a £94m tax debt after all.

Hmm, interesting. Where's the £60m Romanov claims to have sunk into the club, is this not a debt also? And who owns Tynecastle, and is it mortgaged to Romanov's bank? If the above is their plan, they'd better stop donating 3 points to Dundee each time they play them!
  12. Clearly intentional...
  13. MarkD replied to Yngwie's topic in Caley Thistle
Can't really have the keeper taking it ... if its saved the opposition have an open goal at the other end! Red card was harsh I thought, Draper had pushed the ball well wide, not surprised they've thought of appealing.
  14. It's neither bigoted nor as you claim next to the article offensive. If anything it's self-deprecating in an ironic way. The only person who has posted offensive stuff is you.

3,000 attendance from a population of 60,000 i.e. 5% isn't actually bad. The overall problem is that Scotland is trying to maintain 40 football teams on a population of 5m ... compare to England where 50m are maintaining (or not) 150 or so including the Conference.
  16. WTF - How did we not win that one, if the highlights are representative...
  17. MarkD replied to bauhaus's topic in Other Sports
Well footballers have been accused in the past, I remember the Sunday Times running a whole story on Argentina's 1978 WC win, and of course there's the shocking case of the Algerian team from the 1980's who've experienced a high level of deformities in subsequently conceived offspring (having appointed an East European trainer)...
  18. A question on the ICT FC youtube page ... various videos come up there but not for example the highlights of the Dundee game, even though it appears (and I can view it) via my Facebook page ... is there some reason for the difference in synchronisation? (Not a problem, but just a bit odd not to be able to see all the current videos via the Caley youtube page...)

Plus the testimony from people who didn't dope who were forced out, the testimony from people like Greg LeMond who was blackmailed by Armstrong (if you don't shut up I'll pay people to say you doped too), the testimony from people who were not in the team but knew and were smeared, bullied etc by Armstrong. Truly an evil man who deserves far more punishment than he's getting.
  20. Presumably Aberdeen like the position whereby they only need to find one other club to agree with them to veto any change they are opposed to? I doubt it's anything to do with perceived league position, but as you both say it's pretty negative for Scottish football.
  21. I think the joys of "tracking back" can be over-estimated...it can mean you are pinned your own half with a very defensive set up, if you have more people up (a la Messi and Ronaldinho!) it helps to keep the opposition honest.
  22. True, but in previous years we've struggled to break down and score against these sorts of teams (Hamilton springs to mind).
  23. Allow me to recommend a very succesful club manager with international experience, lots of Scottish friends (SAF, Hanson...), likes the rain, good Scottish surname... Shhhteve
  24. Sam Allardyce??? 4-6-0 would become a fixture. Please take him. I'll throw in Andy Robinson too for free ... Oh wait...

Armstrong had the opportunity to challenge in court the 1000 or so pages of evidence including testimony from just about all his teammates and friends, but chose not to. The UCI is now, belatedly, considering this evidence. USADA has followed a process, it is Armstrong who decided not to follow it through, having tried to get it stopped in court and failed. Hearsay evidence is evidence like "I heard he'd done this". What is presented here is direct evidence from people who are saying "I saw him do this". That is not hearsay evidence.
