You know what the examination looks like in reality? A fitness test and answering 25 questions on the rules with 80% correct answers. At least that's how it was when I was still a referee in 2006 in Austria. When I started in Germany in 1987, to become a new ref you needed to answer 16 out of 20 questions and correctly write a match report including a red-card incident.

I looked it up, you're both right. The rule says the ball has to be touched AND MOVE. Probably the linesman thought Draper's touch hasn't moved the ball. Will have to take another look at it.

Doran goal correctly disallowed. The ball simply didn't leave the corner circle after Draper's touch so it wasn't in play when Doran touched it first so he wasn't allowed the second touch for the cross. Sad but that's the rule. HT 0-1

Well, according to Swiss media they have secured pot 1 with the win over Slovenia though it was a scrappy affair (I switched to Sweden vs Germany at half time and was rewarded with 8 great goals). So no reason to be embarrassed, Sneckboy. And congrats to Iceland for 2nd spot and of course Scotland for beating Croatia!

Well my friend Scarlet, there are pretty good football playing ladies here in olde Europe, too. Despite the poor result at the last Championship, England has some decent players, and some countries like Sweden, France, the one I was born in or even Norway stand even better. IIRC correctly, the German national team even beat a fifth tier men's side in a test before the 2011 World Cup. If I didn't have to join a meditational walk this afternoon, I'd switch on (German) Eurosport to watch the women's Bundesliga top match. Oh, and Yngwie, England wasn't the only team to put 9 past the opponent's goalie a fortnight ago. Ask the Russian girls

I'd just like to add that in case of violent conduct like with some other offences the attempt is enough for punishment, in this case a red card. From the TV pictures it looked like more than an attempt.
