Big Drapes movement off the ball is exceptional. He's like an SPL version of Thomas Muller.

Slur on Club
I think a polite 'this is your first and last warning' from the stewards would have been a more sensible course of action rather than hauling the guy out, wasting a fortune in police and court time, and creating an unnecessary spectacle for both the individual and the club.

Inverness CT -V- Aberdeen
Wasn't expecting to win so easily, particularly when I heard Williams and Raven were out. Pleasantly surprised! Tremarco is really starting to look the part at left back, he won his battle with Logan pretty decisively tonight and showed great composure to see out most of the game on a yellow card. That's also now a goal and an assist in consecutive games. The midfield completely bossed the game and made Aberdeen look ordinary. Vigurs took his goal well, but also put in a great shift tracking back and closing down. Polworth had Shinnie in his back pocket. When it was all said and done Aberdeen simply gave up trying to play football against a technically superior team and resorted to playing for soft free kicks to hoof into our box. That was all they had in their locker. It's hard to fathom how they're so far up the table. Without Rooney's goals they'd be struggling to make the top 6. They're starting to remind of of Stuart McCall's Motherwell.

Probably more a case of increased reporting of anti-social activity in and around football grounds due to the growing ubiquity of social media and content sharing, rather than an actual increase in anti-social activity. In days gone by incidents would pass largely unnoticed by anyone outwith the immediate vicinity. Today phone footage and eyewitness testimony will be published online within hours and disseminated all over the internet, leading to a distorted, augmented sense of prevalence. I'd be extremely surprised if 'casual' culture actually returned to Scottish football in this day and age. Football, as a subculture, largely reflects culture at large. At the risk of sounding blunt, the youth of today are somewhat 'low testosterone' in comparison to their 1970s and 1980s counterparts (studies actually bare this out). In the old days hard drinking and fighting were deeply ingrained aspects of Scottish masculine culture. Violent crime has been decreasing for decades. There are multiple theories as to why (some even attribute it to banning leaded petrol!) but the end result is an anti-social generation who would rather sit at home playing X box or chatting to their pals on whatsapp rather than leaving the house. Real world social interaction is a drag for many of these kids, who struggle to be separated from their smart phone screen for any extended period, let alone deal with a situation where they could be punched in the face.- The end (of football) is nigh!

Stick Ryan Esson up front. If it's good enough for Man City, it's good enough for us.- Motherwell -V- Inverness CT

How exactly are Keith Jackson and his Daily Record colleagues 'friends' of our club? Respect is earned. If you want stories handed to you on a plate you could at the very least make the effort to build a relationship with people at our club rather than sitting at your desk in Glasgow acting like we don't even exist. Football fans on transfer deadline day- January transfer window.
£200,000 for a 27 year old is good business. Don't see how anyone can criticize the club in this instance. Ideally we'd have gotten a bigger fee, but at the same time Tansey could easily have left for nothing if we hadn't nailed him down to a contract. The release fee is fair to both parties IMO. Tansey is one of our better players this season, but he hasn't exactly been carrying us. We have a glut of central midfielders to fill the void. (Vincent, Draper, Vigurs, Polworth, Foran, Wedderburn, Roberts). If anything I think Aberdeen have missed a trick, for me Draper is our midfield lynchpin. His style might not be as easy on the eye or as flash as Tansey but it's effective. Hopefully the void left by Tansey creates a vacuum for others to grow into. Yogi seemed to make Tansey a focal point of most of our passing moves. Can see the likes of Vigurs now relishing the prospect of more touches of the ball and creative license in a revamped midfield.- January transfer window.
How about a straight swap for Johnny Hayes?- Top Ref complains.
Not all of the blame for dodgy decision making can be apportioned to referees. It's the guys above them who call the shots. Case in point, Willie Collum takes pelters from fans for his draconian use of cards, but the assessors routinely reward him with big domestic games and international call ups, which suggests he's carrying out their instructions to a tee.- Player of season to date
Our most consistent, reliable performer has been Danny Williams IMO. No-one works harder. An unsung hero IMO. Should be the first name on the team sheet.- Inverness CT -V- Partick Th

The whole point of the possession game is to physically and mentally tire your opponents as they're pulled from pillar to post trying to win the ball back. It doesn't work if the opposition sit back and let you knock it around in front of them. Particks defensive players won't have a much easier afternoon than they did today. We didn't stretch them at all. To quote one of the tactical masterminds of 'tiki taka', Johan Cruyff, "When you get the ball, you make the pitch big. When you lose the ball, you make the pitch small." We're doing the opposite! When we start a move everyone drops deep and runs back towards the man in possession. Our shape is too compact and narrow. There's a chronic lack of space, movement or options for the man on the ball. Little wonder our moves go nowhere and precious few chances are created. At times today our half was more congested than the proverbial 'Sauchiehall Street on a Saturday night'. Hardly a recipe for free flowing football or individual flair. The players are grafting hard but the gameplan isn't working. All in all a dreadful game of football.- Risky Strategy
Forgot to add, you only need to look at our previous manager with his 2 artificial knees to see the folly of being too brave for your own good.- Risky Strategy
With the speed and intensity of the modern game, 'playing through injuries' is no longer an option. It's never a good idea to ignore medical advice in any case. Players aren't cogs or gears to be used, burned out and cast aside. They have their futures to think about, football is their bread and butter. Why risk shortening your career to prove some kind of macho point playing through the pain barrier? Not a good day at the office for Yogi.- Inverness CT -V- Stirling Albion (replay)
I think people are getting the wrong end of the stick when they lament our seemingly excessive passages of 'safe' passing in our own half. The problem wasn't a lack of ambition from the likes of Tansey when they picked up possession. The problem was a lack of movement in front of them. Not sure whether it's down to tactics or fatigue, but the forward players seem to be sticking rigidly to their positions for the most part. If they were any more static they'd have balloons sticking to them. The big exception was Draper who drifted into pockets of space all evening, at times he was an anchorman, at times he was a winger, at times he was running in behind. That's the kind of dynamic movement we've been lacking. Mutombo was very good as an outside left, looks like we've found his best position. Can see him getting a run there. Not a good night for Polworth, think it might be time to rest him. Haven't heard the pundits using the 'burn out' cliché in relation to young players recently, but something to be mindful of. Foran's cameo was encouraging. Hopefully his injury woes are finally over. Stirling looked much better than their league position suggests. Particularly their front 2, both of whom I would have ahead of Brian Graham. - Return of the Casual Scene
