  1. It looked like Richie was going for the 'smart casual' look and to be fair I thought he pulled it off quite well. His seasonal colour coordination was also spot on, with grey being appropriately Autumnal. Both managers also benefited from the 'ugly friend effect' when standing next to their respective deputies. Have to say though, I thought MacIntyre's flash designer suit was a bit pretentious and OTT for standing next to a football pitch, bit of an American Psycho vibe there. Otherwise a fashion masterclass.
  2. You can't concede 3 soft goals at home and hope to take anything from the game. Defence simply not good enough. Hopefully Meekings returns soon!
  3. Stay calm and believe in Richie. Alloa were always going to be a potential banana skin, especially on their astro turf pitch. Lower division teams are much more professional and technical than back in the day. Losing is disappointing, but hardly a fiasco. When we reached the Final of this competition recently, we did so only after scraping past Stenhousemuir on Penalties. Success and failure in Scottish football comes down to fine margins. Individual results mean little in isolation, it's long term trends that matter, and we don't have enough data to assess Richie yet. As for the benching of Draper, I can recall him taking pelters for being worse than the proverbial man short in our opening games last season, particularly against Astra. People were even calling for Wedderburn to play ahead of him. Players have pre-season programmes tailored to their individual physiological requirements, it might just be that big Drapes is a naturally slow starter. Perhaps this is why he's being eased into competitive action. The insinuation that he's simply out of favour doesn't hold water. Foran will be fully aware he's the lynchpin of our team having played alongside him for years. Don't panic!
  4. 1. Celtic 2. Inverness 3. Aberdeen 4. Sevco 5. Hearts 6. Partick Thistle 7. St Johnstone 8. Ross County 9. Dundee 10. Motherwell 11. Hamilton 12. Kilmarnock Optimistic perhaps, but I honestly feel we have as strong a squad today as at any time in our history. Mulraney, Boden, McNaughton and King are as good a group of signings as we've ever had in close season. The spine of Warren, Draper and Tansey remains. The likes of Tremarco, Polworth and Vigurs have improved immensely in the past 12 months. Expecting big seasons from all three. Keeping hold of OFW was a great bit of business. Doran is as good as a new signing. We finished in a false position last year with the catastrophic injury list, self-defeating tactics, irrational team selections and very little rub of the green. Yogi and his rigid, one dimensional system became more of a hindrance than a help to the team last season IMO. Foran has trained and played alongside the players for years, he knows their strengths, weaknesses and preferences. Hopefully this translates into a system tailored to get the absolute best out of the squad, rather than the 'round pegs in square holes / style over substance' nonsense of Hughes.
  5. Don't see what all the moaning is about. This will be a cracking tournament.
  6. Roberts definitely showed flashes of potential. Think his release is probably down to injury concerns, or possibly attitude rather than ability. Players should be judged for their net contribution over an entire season. Sadly Roberts impressive snowing were few and far between. We need value for money.
  7. I'd like to think our club takes players character and work rate into account when judging prospective signings. Riordan fails on both counts, even in the remote chance he managed to get back to SPL level fitness, you'd still be adding a bad apple to the dressing room. Who wants to work with a ned?

    Yogi

Why would anyone in their right mind move to Rotherham?
  9. There are moments where Mutumbo looks like he should be playing at a much higher level, and others where he looks totally off the pace. Definitely a player in there. Would be interesting to see how he shapes up after a full pre season and run of games.
  10. Only if he gets a haircut.
  11. The scenes of carnage yesterday were cunningly edited by the media as part of their ongoing anti-Rangers conspiracy IMO.

    Yogi

Not a single fan I've spoken to today is sad to see him go FWIW
  13. World take Butcher back in an instant. He has his detractors, but given time the man knows how to build a team on a budget. Most of the current squad are still his players. No awkward transition phase required.

Shrewd move from the board IMO. Our success in recent years is entirely down to the talent and hard work of our players. The best group we've ever had. Even Craig Brewster would have struggled to feck things up with such quality at his disposal. I have faith in the players. If they aren't happy, as indications suggest, there's no contest. The manager has to go.
  15. Yogis "best friend" also said we played "no football" before Yogi arrived, and apparently he now has us playing "total football". If these views reflect those of Yogi himself, then the man is an absolute tool.
  16. Can't say I'm brimming with enthusiasm for the season to come.
  17. Loved the anecdote about Robsons boyish enthusiasm in Peles autobiography. "Boss are we playing 5 a sides at the end of training today? Please boss!"
  18. Hoping the board stands firm on the budget. Yogi shouldn't be allowed to gamble our clubs future on a spending spree. If it all goes Pete Tong (the Falkirk experience) it's no skin off the manager's nose, he can walk into another job tomorrow.
  19. Think we actually did County a favour with that last one.
  20. He seemed to play particularly well against the Dons, but struggled to make the same impact against lesser teams. I suspect this signing is as much an attempt to weaken a tough opponent as it is to bolster them. Can see him spending alot of time on the bench.
  21. I find it odd that many SNP people value Independence and Self Determination so highly, yet maintain obsequious support for remaining in the EU, an institution which, at it's core, is anathema to both. Same goes for NATO. Some mental gymnastics at play there.
  22. I think the players may have had something to do with it.

    David Raven

If he is to be released the least the club could do would be to organize a testimonial against Liverpool, or even a Liverpool "legends" team with Dave playing a half for each side. Plenty of ex teammates would be eager to take part I'm sure.
