  1. Won't include the sale of Christie but will include the fee for Mckay.
  2. it would be cheaper to pay for everybody's travel...
  3. The way things are going, I fully expect our next match highlights to be on Casualty, rather than Sportscene.
  4. Despite it being an awful season injury-wise, if we'd managed to find another goal against a pretty poor Dundee side last week we'd be lying 5th with Uncle Roy's plaything in their rightful place below us if you consider the late goals we conceded against Dundee and St Johnstone (twice) as well as last weeks draw against Dundee, we could be 7 points better off and just behind Aberdeen. Shows what a tight league it is this season. No reason we can't get back into the top six, but a couple of bad results could see us plummet.
  5. Cowan's behaviour was in keeping with the rest of the Motherwell fans yesterday.
  6. I am not surprised at the partisan nature of the highlights, just how one-eyed they were. If I hadn't seen myself in the crowd, I'd have assumed that there was a different game that I'd gone to. Do they contact the work out to North Korean TV?
  7. Jeez. How one-eyed were those highlights? The camera may not lie, but the editing certainly can There's no way they dominated the first half like that. And interesting that the challenge that ended Christie's game wasn't shown. I thought we were ok yesterday. Apart from the shot that hit the bar in the first half, I thought that we defended comfortably. In the second half we allowed ourselves to be penned back and we were hanging on a bit at the end. Having said that, we looked more solid at corners than we had for a while. It was Tremarco diving in and not getting the ball away that gave them the space for their goal. Horner had a solid enough game at right back, and Lopez was ok when he came on, although he won't be winning any awards for industry. He seemed more suited to that slightly deeper role, but again it does look like time has slowed down when he moves. Taney looks like he's getting some form back, and it's good that Warren is back cos Devine must be nearing a suspension after that booking yesterday. We were a bit lucky with the penalty retake, but it was the encroaching player that cleared the ball, which may have forced the referees hand. I thought McManus could have gone for either of the incidents he got booked for..Pearson was acting like a total nob at the end, he was obviously trying to wind Lopez up. I thought that Motherwell were a pretty petulant lot. MacDonald was diving at every opportunity. And a special word for the Motherwell fans - welts. What a bunch of poor persecuted souls they truly are.
  8. Loyal? A word to be avoided methinks. Maybe it's the red & blue that appeals. Huns without bus fares perhaps? Looking at the away travel thread, that may literally be true.
  9. Typical Daily Record Story - made up on the back of a cigarette packet. What have either of those managers done to be linked to bigger jobs? If anything, you'd have to say Stubbs is on a shoogly peg after last seasons embarrassing capitulations in the play-offs and SC semis. Warburton has a massive club at the top of a league which contains the likes of Alloa, Dumbarton and Livi. His nearest challengers include Falkirk and Raith Rovers. In their only meeting with an SPL side they were comprehensively drubbed at home. At best you could call Warburton competent relative to his predecessor. Warburton got Brentford to the play-offs last season - same league that QPR are in now. By all accounts he was unlucky to be let go,
  10. Hughes isn't going back to Hibs.
  11. Yet he made pretty similar comments about Colvin on Saturday, and no sign of a notice of complaint. Dallas gets protection because of who he is. He is a pretty poor referee.
  12. Two match ban, one of which is suspended. Meanwhile Dallas is free to carry on making useless decisions.
  13. Was this in the press (not that I'd get to know south of Hadrian's wall)? The Sweet FA web site has nothing about it either, hence the original question.
  14. What happened with this? Neilson had his hearing on Oct 1st after being issued with a Notice of Complaint at the same time. Have the SFA just backed down without saying anything? Was expecting Yogi to be in trouble again after the Dundee game last Saturday, as his post-match comments didn't exactly amount to a glowing reference for Colvin - criticiizing him for both penalties and the red card, and pointing out how poor he was the last time we had him. This Compliance Officer thing is becoming even more of a farce (if that is even possible). If the charge is still active, why is it taking so long to have the hearing? If it has been dropped, why has that not been announced with the same fanfare as the original Notice of Complaint?
  15. So, no need to show a goal ruled out for offside. And how was that a red card?
  16. They all are. I am struggling to think of any who is anywhere close to competent. The inconsistency is painful.
  17. Thought we were the better team in the first half - but that wasn't saying much. When Dundee scored and Raven went off I was expecting that to be that, but I was pleasantly surprised that we went looking to try and get something from the game rather than just limit the damage. Brining Sutherland on was a positive move, and it was great to see Warren back. We looked more solid at the back when he came on. The midfield looked better, but I'm not convinced that Vigurs is being used most effectively. Williams put in a decent shift as a makeshift forward and Christie had a good game. So while not something to get excited about, a good point in the circumstances, and definitely grounds for future optimism. I've also worked out the the SFA have decided to show me the entire range of incompetent officials on their books. Either that or there was a clown guising as a referee today.
  18. I'm sure Jethro Tull could provide the theme tune
  19. We started well enough, but we seem to be back where we were when Hughes started, in that once we go behind we look unlikely to come back. Devine should have scored with an early header, and Christie brought out a good save from MacDonald, but other than that I can't remember many other clear cut chances. Our defence struggled against Magennis. It was disappointing to be out thought by Gary Locke, and depressing that they were able to bring Boyd on - I assume they had run out of pies by then. And where on earth did they find that ref? Clueless doesn't even begin to describe him.
  20. At what point does this become an illegal approach?
  21. My understanding is that they could afford to sign him but Wigan decided on a loan move. My understanding was that Utd were not prepared to match his wages at Wigan (i.e. could not afford him). At that point the choices were Mckay take a wage cut, Wigan agree a severance package (i.e. compensation for loss of earnings) or a loan deal. If Utd could have really afforded Mckay (rather tahn just the transfer fee) they would have at least matched his Wigan wages.
  22. I'm not saying they don't have a bigger budget than us, but as has been seen, they are also very much a selling club at the present. The sting is that the Chairman does not seem to have altered his expectations in line with selling 3/11ths of his team to a rival, and allowing a number of others to go. Indeed, the Chairman has been quite happy to see his manager act as a lightning rod for the fan's frustrations. Someone on Sportsound made the point that they may have a large footballing budget, but they also have a large number of players signed, so that budget may not go as far as you'd think. The trouble with numbers and no context is that they are able to be bent to fit agendas.
  23. But they couldn't afford to recruit Mckay. That's why they took him on loan.
  24. Only putting 2 past Aberdeen doesn't look too clever either...
  25. So nothing in a real newspaper yet, then.
