Matchday Thread Inverness CT -V- Falkirk (Cup Final)
HawkeyeTheGnu replied to Scotty's topic in Caley Thistle
What a day! Thought both teams looked pretty jittery for the first 15 minutes, but then we settled and created some chances. Was just starting to think we needed to put one away when Marley rounded the keeper and slotted home. We then pressed to try and get a second before half time, and only Grants tackle on Doran stopped us being further ahead at the break. Half time came at completely the wrong time for us! Falkirk changed their system, and we either decided to sit on 1-0, or just couldn't adapt to the change. Thought we might just hold on, but then the moment that changed the game. Tremarco with a horrible miscontrol that Alston was on to in a flash. Tremor I tried to recover with a man or ball tackle, upended Alston, and off he went. Watching the highlights later, it was the ricochet of his heel that did Tremarco, and his calf got a bit of the ball before he got Alston, but we can't complain about the red card. At this point I was hoping for an Easter Road-esque Alamo style defence, but eventually we cracked and Grant headed home. At that point I thought that there was only going to be one winner - and they weren't from the Highlands. And then it happened. Marley won a header just inside our half and went on a run. Vincent did a 100m that Usain Bolt would have been proud of to get up in support. I was screaming to Marley to square it, but he took the shot, which MacDonald in the Falkirk goal parried to Vincent for him to stroke it home. At this point I was convinced that lack of sleep had caught up with me and I was hallucinating. I thought Falkirk would get one more chance, which they did with a free kick, but our defence stood firm throughout the 6 hours, sorry minutes, of injury time. Stone me! We've only won the flipping cup. A huge well done to the players yesterday. We didn't play anything like our best in the second half, and the winning goal was more than slightly against the run of play, but what the hell. I think losing Raven was a double blow, as Shinnie is less effective as an attacker on the right. I felt for Tremarco, but it was a sloppy bit of control, and he had to make the tackle. It was always a red if he got it wrong. So the season of a lifetime ends, and we qualify for the Europa league twice. So how do we too that? By qualifying for the Champions League twice, I guess. Can't wait until the Europa League draw on 22nd June!- 116 replies

Yeah, I found that a bit odd too.

Didn't know what it looked like, or said, as I was holding a blue card. Lady near us showed us a picture at half time (of the card display, not some random holiday pics) and it looked pretty darn good. Was probably a bit of a card display skeptic before, but that may have changed my mind. The only reservation I had - was it wise to remind Mr Collum about red cards?

I can find it on the iPlayer app

The 2015 William Hill Scottish Cup Final
HawkeyeTheGnu replied to Kingsmills's topic in Caley Thistle
Try this and, at the time of writing this, the other eight "ICT - Scottish Cup" stories down the "Headlines" column". http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/inverness-caledonian-thistle There does, however, seem to be a disproportionate intetest in the latest performance by the Govan Travelling Circus. -
Can only agree with what has been said above. Today's prediction: Me 1 Productivity 0 To quote Motörhead "no sleep til Hampden"

....I hope uyou've left a zero off this number! Yeah, should read 012-01500

You could play Shinnie at RB and Tremarco at LB, or Draper at CB and Meekings at RB. But I don't think we will.

Think that's bad? My dream last night had Falkirk replaced by Queens Park, and we were 4 down before half time! Don't know if we turned it round as I awoke in a panic as number 4 went in.

Aye there are advantages to the inter-breeding system. I met someone from Dingwall who said "let me introduce me to my wife and sister". Thing is, there was only one other person there...
-
Ever been to Falkirk? That may answer your question.

According to the SFA list it is only Warren who is suspended.

Celtic 5 Merkinch Brownies 3rd XI 0 No injuries. No red cards for violent conduct. Devine gets another 90 minutes under his belt. Cammy Mackay gets a run out. Job done.

If you go to the match page for the final on BBC.co.uk there should be a stream on the day. Failing that, go to BBC.co.uk/iplayer go down to the bottom of the page and change your region to Scotland, and then go to the channel page for BBC 1

Message from Caleyjagstogther re Final Buses
HawkeyeTheGnu replied to old caley girl's topic in Caley Thistle
Park at the big Asda right next to the stadium. Free and easy to get to and from. If you are lucky and don't get a ticket from the private parking company that works for Asda Is it not the case that those tickets are not legally enforceable in Scotland? -
Song for when we score? - Suggestions

One Step Beyond, Chelsea Dagger I wonder who you're other team is..... Chicago Blackhawks? -
But rules don't apply to them, it's a conspiracy, etc

Is it just me, or is it appropriate that Denayer plays for a club whose fans are in a constant state of denial?

Given the BBC had him playing for County earlier this year, I will wait til a more reliable news agency, North Korea maybe, confirm it. But seriously, well done!

Matchday Thread Inverness CT -V- Dundee Utd
HawkeyeTheGnu replied to Scotty's topic in Caley Thistle
Well, that was a pleasant surprise today. To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect, given that Utd still have something to play for, and as far as the league goes, we don't. Thought the first half was pretty even. Esson made two very good saves to keep the scores level, but the ball seemed to spend more time at the Utd end of the park. The second half also started evenly, but once we scored, we took control. At the opening goal, confusion reigned. At first I thought it was a penalty and just a yellow card, but once my apoplexy had passed, I realised that the goal had been given. Ciftci then contrived to hit a dolphin when it looked easier to score. Ross's goal was well taken by him, but how it wasn't put away earlier I still haven't worked out. Warren's header iced the cake nicely. So that's 10 point out of 12 against a Utd side who we have found hard work in previous seasons. Esson was man of the match for me - a well deserved clean sheet for making some good saves. Meekings looks pretty good at right back, and Devine seems to be benefitting from the game time. Vincent seems to be coming onto a game too now, so with a bit of luck we will see some real competition for cup final places. Just next week to negotiate now. Apparently they are handing out some trophy to our opponents next week. The Premiership I think it's called.- 41 replies

At first I didn't realise that the goal had been given, and was going bananas at just a yellow card. I would think the yellow card was for intentionally handling the ball, but not preventing a goal or obvious goal scoring opportunity.- 41 replies

Pretty sure there's a masturbation joke in there somewhere, but I couldn't knock one out. Well done for trying, but you just couldn't pull it off.
