  1. First time in a good while that I've left the ground with a warm glow, spring in step. Solid, assured performance.Robbo has found a set-up that works. Well done to him and all the lads! Just wish we'd been more clinical with 2nd half chances that would have taken a little pressure off the old ticker! Couldn't resist a little celebratory flurry in the club shop afterwards. :cheer01:

  2. That's the first set of round robin fixtures complete. Clearly we had more than enough chances today to win. How many times has that been said? Inverness - Livingston last month sounds emblematic of where we are ... we had much more possession, same number of shots on target but lose 3-1. They were organised and ruthless with chances presented.

    Livingston are 2nd tonight.

I remember all those years ago watching our first league game with herchie mikey noble etc an thinking how good we were. I don’t think that now. We progressed over many years adding better players but we have totally regressed now. The team we have now couldn’t lace the boots of the cup winning team. The whole place seems dead at the moment. The team the crowd etc it’s going to take quite a turnaround to get it back

I remember that first League game too. I don't think the current incumbents (or incompetents) could beat that new League entrant team of yesteryear so, for that reason, they we must currently boast the worst ICT team ever. If I recall correctly, Hercher got a hat-trick that day, the current team needs a road map to find the opposing box.

Absolute nonsense. I know for a fact that the club go through a renewal period for advertisers/sponsors EVERY summer, with businesses' given the options of renewing or not renewing their advertising board. Much the same process as season ticket holders.

Any business that didn't take up the offer for the following season meant their board was available for re-sale. I'm assuming the efforts were and are still being made to get new advertisers involved in the club in a very challenging market.

Sorry to extinguish the fire cif73

Very glad to be extinguished, Stevemc1994

If indeed there are people who have had boards at the stadium 'for years' without payment (which I am inclined to doubt unless someone has somehow slipped through the cracks) then I am sure the mere raising of this topic will have a few people doing a double check of the current situation and making sure they are squeezing as much out of that as they can

Yes I suppose that was an indirect aim of my raising the post ... to encourage a double-check that everything is in order with advertising board renewals.

This sounds remarkably like "The Clachnacuddin Vindication" of some years ago when Clach owed the Council megabucks of rent for Grant Street and the club explained itself away by simply stating that the Council hadn't asked it for the money..... which Clach didn't have if the Council had asked!

On the original question, I'm not in any way doubting the validity of the assertion, but is there any evidence, other than hearsay, that renewals have not been sought? The alleged issue would certainly stand up a lot better if it were thus supported.

I only have hearsay ... but, fearing there's no smoke without fire, my opening post was essentially an open enquiry to the gathered throng for confirmation/supportable evidence.

  6. Someone told me that apparently there are advertising hoardings round the pitch where businesses haven't been asked for renewal monies in years. So not even a question that certain businesses won't pay ... they haven't even been asked. Has anyone else heard that? Can the business admin/cash collection in the club really be that bad?

Nobody should underestimate the depth of our problems right now. Relegation would be irreversible: ICT would return to part-time football. Even if we stay up, the word is that we'd have one more year to get back up, otherwise the result is the same. The core problem is that the support is evaporating with every passing game: even the die-hard support is collapsing. Why? The players show no heart, the management continues to flounder and the Board continue to stumble from one shambles to another. What's to like? It is really, really hard to find a reason to go to the games - they are not entertaining and you leave with the feeling of being cheated out of the entrance money. My concern is that there are zero signs at any level in the club for the decisive action necessary to turn this round and to bring the support back on side.

I confess that I'm genuinely terrified about our future and each week that passes is another nail in the coffin.

Don't worry Yngwie, we still have  Seedorf, Elbouzedi and Zschusschen to come back and kick start out campaign!

Where are they? Are they still alive? I remember fondly the optimism after Seedorf's first game. I left today thinking ... i don't know if / when i want to bother going back through again. Where is the passion for the shirt! A team almost entirely made up of journeymen marking time. Depressing. This early on and I expect us to be relegated ... I had hope until the last game last season.

This popped up in my Facebook memories yesterday. A mere 2 years ago!! Excellent all-round performance. Creative, good defending, beautiful passing. Only criticism is we could have been out of sight by half-time with more clinical finishing.

Noticed Tremarco is in the Courier effectively criticising the manager for having a go at the players publically. Sounds like he's lost the dressing room.

    ... or starting to lose

Jim McIntyre has been sacked by County

And that is why Ross County are a premier league team (and will probably remain one) ... and we aren't. When tough business decisions need to be made for the long-term good of the club, there is no messing about ... even when it is a cup winning manager.

  12. From Dumbarton fans on Pie & Bovril

    After 1st half:

"We lose the first goal and the heads go down. We're sitting back and inviting them to attack us. Which they're doing half heartedly."

"Caley Thistle aren't helping. They seem content to play at a pedestrian pace, secure on the knowledge that we pose absolutely no risk. This is as insipid and dull as football gets."

    After full-time:

"Inverness dominated the 1st half and should have been 2 or 3 up ... You could see though how devoid of confidence Inverness are. As soon as we equalised they fell apart."

What an absolute shambles we have become. Even more than we were last season.

Defintely worse this season. Last season, we at least had one or two decent results at the start of the season (Aberdeen, Celtic, St Johnstone) ... this season has been utter mince!

  14. Childhood in Inverness for me meant the occasional Highland League game at Kingsmills "round the block" and the even more occasional visit to Kingsmills or Telford Street if a "big team" came to town. It was a really big deal if any league team visited (even the Montrose's or Stenhousemuir's of the day). I remember the excitement of Thistle thumping Kilmarnock 3-0 on a cold day, seeing Celtic at Kingsmills at a midweek friendly game (part of Ryan Christie's dad going to Celtic?) and Aberdeen at Telford Street (part of Liam Polworth's dad going to the Dons?). It's certainly good to reminisce.

I embraced the promise of league football offered by the merger and have been a keen ICT supporter ever since, taking in their first ever league game at Telford Street and a season ticket holder for the last 4/5 years up to now. In between, life has intervened (work, location, family) from time to time, making regular attendance more challenging but I'm proud to say that I've seen most of the big events first hand (supercaleygoballistic win in Glasgow, cup semi and finals).

All this warm, cuddly stuff is nice to look back on but it's also worth bearing in mind that, from the outset (circa 1994), the feeling amongst the great, the good and the humble supporter was that Inverness had been frozen out of senior football for long enough., that its population etc warranted a team at the top table and that it should endeavour to get there within several years. "Should" is a big word and brings no guarantees but, with sincere thanks to everyone involved, we certainly got there ... and then some, didn't we!

It isn't wrong to get frustrated or angry with disappointing team/club performances/attitudes/choices. We shouldn't curl up in a corner and meekly accept dross just because, hey, we used to be in the Highland League after all. Successful people in sport get a taste for success and want more. I'm realistic though. When we won the cup, I told my son to enjoy it because we might not see another one. I'll support ICT whatever division they find themselves in ... in the knowledge that I've been there before.

We've heard lots of reasons given for our pishness this season. At what point do we question whether the manager is part of the problem?

I started to ask that question for the first time today. At least Richie appeared animated on the touchline like he cared. Mark my words we are sleepwalking to another relegation unless our porous defence and shot-shy midfield/attack wake up and smell the coffee.

I am all for giving the new manager and players time, but if there are any petty personal squabbles between players or coaches, they must be put aside for the benefit of the club.

100% agreed. Let's not allow pride/stubbornness create a re-run of Foran/Fisher where a key player is benched/excluded to the detriment of the club/league position.
