  1. Alex Fisher being talked about by Lineker Shearer and Wright on BBC 1 tonight. He signed for Yeovil today and drove 9 hours from Motherwell to meet the manager in dressing room just 1 hour before kick-off. Now on bench for FA cup tie vs Man Utd.

Perhaps some of those who have been on Polly's case all season will now cut him a bit of slack.

I talked to number of folk yesterday on this subject and a fair few just refuse to see his contribution.

Completely unfathomable that people can't see Polly's positive contribution. They seriously need to open their eyes.

    P.S. I'm not Polly

Back down south sounds like best bet for OFW then. Maybe he is making enough cash out of ICT and a bit extra with his artwork to be comfy in his current status.

Nothing personal against him, but would rather use cash for his wages for players on the park than one sitting at an easel (as stated above by Kingsmills)

Well said. It can't be good for his playing prospects (for a club and for his beloved Wales) that he is completely starved of game time and invisible to the public eye. If you're a professional footballer with a limited shelf life, why on earth would you do that? If I was him, I'd be pulling out all the stops to get away pronto and make a fresh start.

  4. So glad I made the round trip for the game. Fairly even before 1st goal. A goal for each of the 3 strikers and a cracking first goal for Jake. Ref decent in 1st half, less good in 2nd.

A Falkirk fan on P & B says that the last two games against them show to him that we are the best side they've faced all season. (Last game was 0-0, he acknowledged it should have been 0-4).

We just need a free-scoring striker. Maybe one of the three tonight is finally going to step up to the plate!

Top man, Dave the Rave - thanks for the outstanding memories! You have a right to question the finacial chaos that has ensued since the cup win - the management has been shambolic.

Unfortunately, in football, mistakes tend to be compounded financially - in this case, the necessity to pay Hughes for garden leave impacted on the choice of the next manager (on account of cost), which got us relegated with falling attendances, leading to poor morale, even more player departures, poor form, early cup exits and falling attendances (repeat).

I think the answer to the question "where has all the money gone?", while fair, is answered simply by the fact that the club has consistently run at a loss of ~£300k per annum for years and the books have been balanced by the various windfalls during that time (league and Scottish cup runs, Butcher compensation, Christie sale). That is a precarious existence, which will go wrong at some point. How wrong will be determined by the shrewdness of the board...ours failed that test spectacularly.

The real issue is, and always will be, how do we get more people through the gate? If you look art the Scottish Prem this year, the league table almost exactly mirrors the average home attendances. The surprise should perhaps not be how far we have slid but just how outstanding our achievments were over those years when The Rave was with us.

Apologies for the negative tone here - after hte game on Tuesday, I'm really quite upbeat about our prospects for this season, but I think we'll need to get used to the constant churn of players, as attendances are not going to recover significantly any time soon.

    Excellent post. No apology required.

  6. I wasn't at the game. Having now seen the highlights and re-run the Vigurs sending off incident umpteen times, freeze frame, slow-mo etc. I think I can say that:

     1. Clearly it was accidental by Vigurs; but

    2. By the time, he had positioned himself to attempt the kick overhead, the Livi player had nipped in front of him and so, "ideal world stuff", Vigurs should probably have attempted to pull out of the challenge before connecting.

The ref doesn't have the benefit of endless video playback ... So, I can see how the yellow was given. As far as I understand, intent doesn't come into the decision unfortunately. However, brutal application of rules like this just ruins the game and regular ref. inconsistency in games breaks me.

All in all, the sending off seems very unlucky on Vigurs' part ... although one might say that, when on a yellow, he should have been extra careful to stay on the right side. (In that regard, I'd like to know if his first yellow before that was for being stupid i.e. dissent or silly foul).

Seedorf was a big surprise when he came on. He spotted in really well at right back after Raven went off showing excellent timing when challenging for the ball and offering decent support down the flank when he got forward. I'd say he was probably our MotM.

Have said before that Seedorf could be really good for us. Glad to see him get a run out (although unfortunate circumstances). The naysayers maybe just saw one less good performance.

  8. I know that decision-making in the final third was disappointing on numerous occasions today but singling out Polly as having a terrible game seems harsh to me. Today, he had his trademark runs again carrying the ball from midfield as attacks started (he is our most effective player in that role) and he had one or two decent efforts on goal. The disappointment for me was the misunderstanding between midfielders and forwards with some final balls but that is as much their fault as it is his.

  9. Hope so. I thought it was a bit embarassing for the club that St Mirren (as the away team) posted up extended highlights of last weekend's game before we did.

This on a regular basis would be a positive move although I appreciate it probably  takes a great deal of effort.

    Anyway well done!

why not go for Rory McAllister.

I have often thought that but I understand from previous forum discussions that he is happy and settled in Aberdeen area mixing his football with a good steady job.

  11. Not a surprise I suppose. Glad that an extension was offered to a cup hero who still does a good job but I completely understand that it needed to be reduced terms. I like the quotes from the club here. David was part of the cup winning team that will forever hold a fondness in ICT hearts but he was also part of the relegation team and shouldn't expect to escape the harsh, punishing financial realities that ensue as a result. Players have to look after their families, this is their job and many are paid handsomely for it ... they create memories but their stay is transient. It is the club and its fans that endure. Thanks for the memories David. We wish you well.

I do like listening to Robbo. A straight-talking, down-to-earth guy who gives a honest, balanced account, taking most/all pertinent factors into account. As previous posters have said, the confidence-boosting win last night was partly down to Brechin's defensive shortcomings. However, I do now feel much more positive about the future on the pitch and am pleased to hear that consideration is being given to sensible squad changes (in's and out's) in January whilst not neglecting youth options either. :ictscarf:

P.S. This is not Robbo's account.

  13. Based on below link, I'm not sure that the difference between finishing 7th and 12th is the whole reason for the extent of the loss.

    https://stv.tv/sport/football/1385575-this-is-how-much-your-team-will-make-in-post-split-money/

I suppose much also depends on when income gets booked/recognised in the accounts given we got relegated on 20th May 2017 and the current accounts being reported declare the financial results for the year from 1 June 2016 to 31 May 2017.

  14. 1. Penalty? On reflection, yes. Clumsy by Polworth. Gave the ref a decision to make.

    2. Vigurs? Really harsh to go off for these two yellows. For the 1st, he was getting kicked to bits. For the 2nd, look forward to abandoned games if that's the measure.

    3. Samson? So should have gone. I'm still furious about this one. Notice how he virtually thanks the ref (right hand acknowledgment) for just receiving a yellow. He thought he was gone too!

That s##t Ref, the St Mirren goalie assaulting Oakley (I think it was him).

It was Vigurs rather than Oakley but I agree entirely apart from that ... yes, s##t ref and yes, assault ... for which I couldn't see any justification.

Genuinely wondered if the ref was from Paisley wearing a St Mirren top as a base layer.
