  1. Another hard fought three points at a potential banana skin. The games are coming quick and fast, and unfortunately we are running out of games, obviously hoping to win, but also to increase our goal difference. We just have to give it our best shot, as we are in a position I didn't think we'd be in several games ago.
  2. A very good team performance produced a valuable three points. Shaw's goal, was a goal made by passing accurately and at pace, something we don't do enough of, but when we do, it often results in chance or a goal. Great endeavour from Henderson to drive into the box and win the penalty . The red card seemed harsh, but Arbroath were at it the whole game, feigning injury and yelling like they'd been shot, another poor performance from the officials, especially the standside assistant referee, who missed offsides, handballs and throw-ins. Shaw, Henderson, Carson and Deas were stand outs for me, but and all round good team performance. On to Cove now, so let's keep the winning habit going.
  3. I said the same thing to my son at the Raith game, if Dan Mackay can't get a game here, how is he going to succeed in the top league? He should be ripping this league up. In my opinion, he left us far too early, he hadn't really established himself In the first team when he left, and another season with us, or as Christie did, get loaned back to us after he signed for Hibs would have benefited all parties. I fear that if he doesn't find some form soon, he could drift from club to club, which would be a shame for a player who has so much talent.
  4. We did what we needed to do by getting the win and a valuable three points, but we had a chance to increase our goal difference against a poor Raith team and we eased up in the second half when I believe we could have scored more. With our last game of the season against Ayr, it may come down to goal difference, so we should have done what Partick did to a poor Queens Park last night, and went for it. Good performances from Carson, Shaw and Ridgers. On to Tuesday now, and hopefully another home win.
  5. We need a Queens Park win against Partick tonight, and for us to beat Raith on Saturday to keep the pressure on the teams above or it's, thank you and goodnight.
  6. I supported Inverness Thistle since around 1962 till their demise. I never wanted the merger, and have yet to meet a supporter who did. I was a season ticket holder and went to all home and away games right up to the end. I could never understand why Thistle and Caley had to merge and all the other Highland League clubs managed to get into the league on their own. It has been hard for ex-Thistle fans with the merger, hearing all the shouts of Caley, the stadium called Caledonian stadium, the media calling them Caley and playing in predominantly blue. But it is what it is. I have been a season ticket holder since around 2010, it took me a long time to have any feeling for the new club, and I would go to the odd game when I could, work permitting, as I worked most Saturdays and worked back and night shift, but since I retired I haven't missed a home match for several seasons. There have been many highs over the years, and a few lows, and I think I have lived through the golden period of ICT, winning the Scottish Cup being the pinnacle. I don't have the same passion for ICT that I did have for Inverness Thistle, but that's history now, and the new generation have no excuse for not following their home Scottish League team ICT, instead of following the Glasgow clubs or Aberdeen, something my generation never had.
  7. Or Inverness's own Supermac, Ted Macdougal, Scottish Caps and a phenomenal goalscorer.
  8. A terrific three points from a fixture we have struggled with this season. We seem to be having a good run of form just now, so let's keep it going against Raith next week. Well done all.
  9. Sad to hear. I remember him when he was at Inverness Thistle. Sincere condolences to his family and friends. RIP Ian.
  10. What an amazing win that was. With the game looking touch and go if it was even going to be played, after the heavens opened, and losing Danny Devine in the warm up, I wondered what ICT would turn up for our latest Friday night fixture. The first half was a non event, possibly the dullest 45 mins I've sat through this season, and there's been a few. I couldn't believe how inept Partick were, they looked early on that they didn't have many ideas of how to break us down, and there was very few goal mouth incidents of note. But, second half was a different story. I was just praying that we didn't start the second half the way we've started a lot of them, by giving a sloppy goal away, but we started on the front foot, and once Henderson got behind their defence and put a terrific ball into their box for Shaw to blast into the net, it was well deserved for ICT being on top at that time. Then, came one of the worst refereeing decisions I have seen in many a year. Sending Welsh off for a tackle in our opponents half that merited a yellow, but never a red, took everybody by surprise. He just clipped the player and never injured him, but the ref couldn't wait to get the red card out, Is Grant Irvine the new Willie Collum? Then it was a 'backs to the wall' performance, that Inverness seem to relish. I thought that it was only a matter of time till they equalised by one of their numerous corners and fouls that Irvine kept giving them, or someone would trip Tiffony in the box, but we held on for an amazing victory. As someone said on here, we win when we think we'll lose and we lose when we think we'll win. If we had lost, it was thank you and goodnight, but the win still gives us a very slim chance to make the playoffs.
  11. I hear what you're saying, I was just talking about this with my son. Although it would be great to see this thrilling Celtic team in the flesh, I can just imagine what they could do to us if we make the final and haven't had a competitive game for some time. Although there are always cup upsets, I fear it could be quite embarrassing if they are firing on all cylinders with their huge quality squad. Being an older supporter, like a lot of fans from our Highland League days, we would support our local team, in my case Inverness Thistle, and also had a 'big' team, which for me was Celtic, but anytime the Jaggies played Celtic it was always the Jags I would support, and it's the same today, when Celtic play ICT, there it's only Inverness that I want to win. So you could say that a Celtic v ICT final would be a dream come true for me, and it will be a great occasion if it happens, but I just fear that looking at the current form of Celtic and ourselves, I don't want it to become an embarrassing statistic in the history of the Scottish Cup and tarnish our competition reputation.
  12. Wow! That was a strange decision, especially as Welsh was already missing from the midfield. I always believe that if you win the midfield, you have a great chance to win the game, and our midfield without Welsh and Allardice would be easy to over run.
  13. I wasn't at this game, and as I've said before, I don't attend away matches due to health issues, but I have been at every home match this season and I have noticed that on many occasions we, or our opponents are a different team in the second half. Is this down to our opponents manager noticing that things aren't working for his team, and that he has to change tactics to get a result, and our manager not realising that his opposite number may change tactics to swing the game in his teams favour and Dodds not being aware that things will change, or does he not have the ability to alter things? Having watched all the home games, I have come to the conclusion a long time ago, that unfortunately I don't believe that Billy Dodds has the tactical awareness to counteract the changes in tactics his opposite number makes. His substitutes are more than often like for like, the formation rarely changes, and when we are chasing the game our default position is the good old Hoofball, which rarely, if ever, results in a goal. If Dodds sees that the team weren't doing what he wanted in the match, why doesn't he scream at them and get them to stop what they're doing? He's the coach!, he needs to get them to play the way he wants and change tactics and personnel to achieve the result. So Plan A wasn't working, switch to Plan B, oh, I forgot, there is no Plan B.
  14. That is terrible. It wasn't me, although I was sore and tired having had to walk from Kingspark to get to the stadium and then having to walk back after the game. I just couldn't believe it. I have to pick my away games because I can't sit or walk long distances with my arthritis, and with the League Cup final, when they put the bus miles down the road from parkhead and we couldn't get off at the stadium and not being allowed to use the disabled parking spaces at the final, it doesn't make for a pleasant day when you know you have a long walk after the game. So as I said, I will be watching it on the TV this time, and hope everyone has a better trip.
  15. I hope it's true that the supporters buses take you direct to Hampden, as this was not the case in the semi final against Celtic. The buses were not allowed to park in the coach park and were directed to park at Kingspark, which was quite a walk for someone who has mobility issues. So, knowing that, we took the car down for the final against Falkirk, so that I could use my blue badge to get parked closer, only to be told by the steward at the gate that unless we had previously applied to use the disabled parking spaces on that day, we weren't allowed to use them now. So, I was dropped off at the corner and waited for my friends to find some parking, and when we eventually got slowly to the stadium, most of the disabled parking spaces were empty! So, watching in the comfort of my own home with no walking sounds good.
  16. So, if Celtic win the cup, who qualifies for that place, as they will be in the champions league? Does Scotland just lose that place as Celtic can't compete in two European tournaments at the same time? As I said, it's a big if, just curious.
  17. So If, and it's a great big if, celtic beat rangers and we beat Falkirk we will be in European football again!
  18. That's The Way I Like It, definitely, but It's About Time by Van Halen sums up my feelings as well.
  19. If we can maintain this form into the league, I can muster a 5.
  20. Well that was unexpected and also the best feeling from a victory I've had in many a long day. After the really bad start, I thought here we go again, having to come from behind to win the game, but we gradually took control of the game and we ended up worthy winners. Good performances from all the boys, but a special mention to our own Durecell Bunny, Billy Mckay he never stops running the channels, closing the back four down and chipping in with a pressure penalty. Anything is possible now, so let's sit back and enjoy the other semi's and see what unfolds, and hopefully take this form into our remaining league games, let's pretend that we're playing Premier clubs in all our remaining games. Well done.
  21. It would be nice for a change if we didn't keep conceding the first goal cheaply, then having to score twice to win, and as we are not very prolific in the goal scoring department, it takes a monumental effort to get any points at all. So thankfully we managed to take all three much needed points against Ayr. Sometimes you need a bit of luck to get anything out of the game, and Ayr going down to ten men was the bit of luck that has usually deserted us this season. We need to try and keep it tight on Friday, and cut out the errors at the back. If we can frustrate Kilmarnock, who aren't great on the road, and manage to get in front first, it could be another great Scottish Cup memory.
  22. Up to 2 now, let's see what happens on Friday if it will go up again or back down.
  23. I completed the survey earlier in the week, I hope that you get a good response to it, and hats off to you for your endeavours. I have contributed suggestions over the years to the club, but nothing seems to happen, they make all the right noises at the time, but even the smallest things are not carried through, so I'll be interested to see if anything comes from the survey.
  24. I'm still down at the lowest point, and can't see it changing anytime soon. I've come to the conclusion, on recent games I've witnessed, that we don't scout our opponents but they scout us. Dodds says teams sit in against us! If he knows that, set the team and tactics to counteract that. Play smart, keep possession, don't play Hoofball, get your opponents to come out and get the ball. One thing I always remember about Yogi's time with us was he always went on about ball retention, if we look after the ball, we control the game. Far too many times we get caught in possession or give the ball away cheaply. So, until we change tactics, it's only going to remain at the lowest ebb for the foreseeable.
