Sad news indeed. Sincere condolences to his family and friends. I met John a few times during those Caledonian days pre merger. R.I.P John.
  2. According to the Sky Sports Football statistics we had 56% of the possession. Of the 16 shots we had only 3 were on target, 9 off target and 4 blocked. After a pretty good pre season friendly session which included 3 SPL sides, this result was disappointing. Games are different when they actually mean something. Peterhead were well up for this one as we would have been back in the day of our lower league status. On to the next game now and hopefully we can right the wrongs.
  3. We're basically starting the season with a new team...in a way. Going to be a tough start with the two Dundee's and I also think Arbroath might give folk a shock or two (they beat Hibs in a pre season friendly but I don't know what the Hibees line up was...not that I'd know their first team from their second mind ?) No easy games and not easy to predict how we'll do. The League Cuo Group will be a good pointer I think.
  4. That's pretty much my selection although I may change Golabek for G Shinnie. Tough one. Great thread by the way.
  5. All part of the away day trip in my view. Worth adding I reckon.
  6. Nice idea. Hope you get decent input.

I can only echo Scotty's word here. I / We have met Ken on a few occasions and I'll never forget that first encounter. He was in awe at the travels of the Gringo's and our support of ICT. A true gent and legend. R.I.P.

Was this helped by cheating at the TCS and the fact they had a goalkeeper?
  9. There's been a noticeable apathy towards our club for all of our 25 years. It;s a real shame. Still so many out there seeething over the merger. But, there are many folk out there aged up to 25 who never knew what life was like pre merger. It's those that have no excuse.
  10. Going to be a tough call against the Arabs. They'll be out for revenge of the Scottish Cup defeat and they'll be fresher / fitter. League points we've taken off Ayr United this season - 10 [W3 D1 L0 F5 A2] League points we've taken off Dundee Utd this season - 2 [W0 D2 D2 F2 A5]
  11. You would never get that in the SPL.
  12. Can't argue with the replies above and fully understand, also, why Scotty would want to sever the sponsorship links. Defo go with a home grown youngster and not a journeyman.
  13. We weren't on our game. We never pressed them and we allowed them to take control. They had time on the ball. When we had it we looked rushed. We made errors and gave the ball away far too often. If we'd have gone at them from the start like we did in our last two cup ties against County and Dundee Utd we'd have had them rattled and on the back foot. In my view Hearts were there for the taking - I mean even Partick Thistle gave them a scare. Having said that, we made it to the semi final which I never thought we would. It was still a good day out. Onwards to play offs now - lets go for it. Just one question - there were six substitutions in the second half and a couple of stoppages for injuries but...only 1 minute added. It wouldn't have made a difference to the result of course but could you imagine if that happened in a game involving 'them'.

According to the SPFL these are the Play Off dates for that Premier league place. May 8 Ladbrokes Premiership play-off quarter-final, 1st leg 11 Ladbrokes Premiership play-off quarter-final, 2nd leg 15 Ladbrokes Premiership play-off semi-final, 1st leg 18 Ladbrokes Premiership play-off semi-final, 2nd leg 23 Ladbrokes Premiership play-off final, 1st leg 26 Ladbrokes Premiership play-off final, 2nd leg Question is, how are ICT going to cope with a two leg play off final against St Mirren and the Scottish Cup Final (25th May) against Aberdeen? Three games in four days seems a bit unfair don't you think?
  15. Desperately sad news for the young man. We send our best wishes to him for the future whatever that may hold.

Jim was the my first contact from Caledonian FC days. He sent me a nice letter after I wrote to the club after my first ever Caledonian fC game away at Airdrie in the Scottish Cup. He is a legend. I wish him a very happy and healthy retirement.
  17. Even with VAR it's still a contentious decision in my view.
  18. Unless you sign off with CFC or RFC you won't get one
  19. in a way it does make sense. However I think the players from both sides would like the chance to play at Hampden and its a great day out for the fans.
  20. Why do I get worried that, if we make it to the semi final we're going to get an embarrassing gubbing? Looking at the possible opponents and our inability to score ...the fear is there...anyway, good luck to the lads and safe journey to all those venturing down (up or across) to Dundee. Mon the Caley Jags.
  21. That'll just be Carl, Aaron and Liam then
  22. Watched it on the goggle box and I thought we played really well. After reading the reports from our last game I was fearing the worse. We could have (and should have) won this game if it wasn't for Fox in their goal. Having said that, County missed a few as well. Sad to say we are not mature enough to hold on to the ball for more than a few seconds and are unable to defend when the pressure is on (or off). Great opportunity to progress now but I our home form isn't the greatest. Extra time and pens anyone?

https://ictfc.com/inverness-caledonian-thistle-25th-anniversary-ball-saturday-2nd-march Anybody going to this? Only three weeks to save up for a ticket. Dancing right through to 12.30pm on Sunday 3rd too according to the advert. You only need to wear a black tie too.
  24. I will never forget that night in Glasgow. 19 year though, unbelievable.
  25. You are certainly right regarding the City's lack of affinity for the club. This has always been the case except when the team 'shocks' the city by reaching cup finals and winning one of them. The city turned out in their thousands when they paraded the cup but where are those folk now? I suspect many wanted to see the cup rather than the team that won it . I think one of the biggest problems the club has is the location of the ground? Stuck out on a limb with nothing there for pre-match attraction or entertainment. Yes there is now sports bar at the ground but the last time I was in there it offered very little (nothing) to entice me back.
