  1. Sorry, I don't buy this 'Private Life / Working Life' argument. In my job I can't even have a drink in as much as I have to allow at least eight hours between my last pint and going on duty. I am subject to random drink and drugs tests (the drink limit is more severe than that for drink driving) and if I fail them I get the sack, no arguments, no excuses. I dare say its like that in many jobs out there and will be clearly shown somewhere within the contract of employment.
  2. That sums it up completely. Unfortunately the slagging off of icons and digging up the dirt sells newspapers / magazines.
  3. Richie Hart is no teenager who can be easily led, he is a 'responsible' adult and must have known full well what the consequences would be regarding the possession of this substance. I dare say that within his contract of employment there would be a statement within it regarding this type of thing and what the consequences of such possession/use will be. Fact remains he has done wrong knowing full well what the possible outcome will be. Sorry, RH, I have no sympathy.
  4. ...don't how you can sleep at night with all those 'figures' in your head. :004:
  5. Where's Playmouth? :004: ...?3.50 for a proggy :crazy07:
  6. Every chance to take them in the QF I think. They're in Greece on the 25th for the UEFA match against Panathinaikos. Their home fixture on the 27th against Falkirk will, no doubt, now be moved to the Sunday and the QF is now, more than likely, going to take place on the Weds. CB should field his strongest possible side and take them to the cleaners.
  7. Dons dates with destiny are:- 25 October (a) v Panathinaikos 8 November (h) v Lokomotiv Moscow 29 November (a) v Atletico Madrid 20 December (h) v Copenhagen To me, these group stages in the UEFA Cup appear to be a little unfair due to the fact they don't play home and away legs. I suppose it's just a money making excercise again for the Euro stage. Their two away ties look particularly harsh - a result of the seeding I suppose. Best wishes to them for further progress.

    Don Cowie Offski

Maybe put him on the same wage scale as Niculae... :023:
  9. Aye, thats a tall order for the Dons. Good luck to them.
  10. I'm blaming you for tempting fate here... :015: :004:
  11. Happy Birthday from all at Gringo Towers. Hope you have a good day up there in sunny Snack. :sillywave: :sillywave: :music04: :music05: :party01:
  12. The Wee County are near enough.....we could settle for that instead.

    9th?

Very possible Hamish, all if's and but's, but very possible. Lets get the win first eh!
  14. You're right, I didn't. That was because it wasn't discussed on here - or at least I never saw it. I had my rant about them (and the signallers in the more recent events) and a rail forum and not a football forum. :004:
  15. But they knew what it was like before they filled in the application form for the job in the first place. And if by publishing the 'Day in the life of a Postie' story they're thinking it'll make me sympathise with them, it won't - it just gets my back up even more. I'm working the night shift next week, seven nights Mon thru to Sun with 12 hours shifts on Sat and Sun night - that's just too darn unsociable, think I'll go on strike for better conditions.
  16. The unsociable hours of a Posties job has been like that ever since the service came into being. All those that applied for the job of Postman/Lady will be aware of this and shouldn't use it as ammo in a strike situation. Have a read of the story on the Beeb web site Day in the Life of a Postman. My heart bleeds for this guy...not! I've been doing shift work for 35 years and that has included Christmas Day and New Year Eve and New Year Day so they needed feed me that bull.
  17. If I want to give a personal view on an issue that affects me I will do. The mod' status does not mean I have to keep my mouth shut. I suggest you bare this in mind in future and stop trying to drag a thread off topic by making such stupid comments. Millions of people are affected by this unecessary strike - including you - but, then again, maybe nobody writes to you..
  18. Strikes are a pain the erse at the best of times. The only people that suffer through strikes are the general public and not the companies themselves. Companies can recover from strikes (most of the time) but some individuals may not, including the workforce. Lots of small businesses depend on the postal service as alternatives are generally more expensive. For the postal workers to take this action is nothing short of criminal. To those postal workers that are on strike may I suggest you just resign your post and give it to someone who really wants a job. :finger02:
  19. With the Dons recent success in the UEFA Cup and their qualification into the group stages I wonder if this will affect the date of our QF tie. Uefa Cup group stages commence on 25th Oct. One to keep an eye on I suppose.
  20. Aye, thought that myself. Without checking, I would guess its the first final involving two former SPL clubs.
  21. Network Rail has announced the closure of the rail link between Perth and Inverness for essential maintenance work in preparation for the ravages of winter. Those travelling by rail from the south will have to detrain at Perth and be transferred to buses, which will extend journey times. Rail line closure
  22. :rotflmao: Nothing changes then... :001:
  23. ....didn't apply to the fans shirts then eh? :024: :001:
  24. Why was Gers shirt sponsor blotted out for this match (not that that's a bad thing mind...it is Carling after all)?
