Aberdeen vs ICT
Well done ICT, great result. Despite a poor pre-season (in the fans eyes) you took the Don's naping and stormed to the top of the league. The first win against the Don's must have been so so sweet...and on their pitch too. Fanbl00dytastic.

Can the boys do a mans job
On the evidence laid before us in the form of ICT's pre-season I believe the boys will not be able to do a mans job. During the pre-season we played lesser opposition (with the exception of Burnley) and conceded 13 goals in those 8 games. The only clean sheet we managed was against Clachnacuddin. On the plus side, we did manage to score in every game. I really think that our defence is shocking and we are going to rely heavily on our new strike force to score more than we conceded. We have no pace, we have no holding mid-fielder, we have no anchor man in the centre of defence, but, listening to Brewster on North Tonight yesterday evening he seems quite happy with our lot. So I suppose that's alright then. I really really hope I am proved wrong but I reckon we are in for a long hard slog.

Lets buy a player
I think one of them was Ebbsfleet Utd, I believe a group of fans saved the club (formerly Gravesend & Northfleet) by rallying round and raising the cash in much the same way I yu are suggesting here. As Scotty quite rightly says apathy will set in once it becomes a reality and its time for folk to part with cash. I also feel that, in the current finacial doldrums, many folk will see this as an unnecessary expense. Doubtless there are enough of us out there that could (not necessarily would!) stump up the ?500 but I think the legal proceedings will be far too much and would probably cost just as much through solicitors fee's etc. Also if the player was sold at a profit who would get the money?

Merged: Rangers Out Of Europe
The only bad things to come of this will be the effect on ratings for Scottish teams in Europe and that Celtic will now reap more Euro' cash through the TV deals. I watched the match last night and thought Rangers were very poor. There was no creativity in and area of play and their defense was worse than ours. Hearts reserves deserved to go through on the balance of play. That defeat has cost Rangers dearly.

Team for Burnley
Having watched the whole game I can only agree with most of the above comments about the teams performance. Had Burnley's strikers been on target more often we could have been out of sight in the first twenty minutes. Our new boys looked good but i'm affraid the little or no attention by Brew' to the defensive frailities during the close season will see us suffer during 2008/09. The defence was shocking and definately at fault for both goals. Rossco, I'm sorry to say, will be a liability this season, I hope he proves me wrong but on the evidence at Turf Moor on Saturday the signs are not good. On the plus side Barrowman looks like he will score goals, he'll need to score more than we concede and that won't be easy in the SPL. On the balance of play Burnley deserved their win but, in the end, we were unlucky not to grab a draw. My stats for the match:- All Shots Burnley: 15 All Shots ICT: 12 Possession 1st half: 70 - 30 Possession 2nd half: 60 -40 Our tactics seemed to be all over the place and the long punt up the park was very much in evidence. We struggled yet again to string passes together and the team lacked pace down either flank. We certainly have nobody to run to the by-line and whip a cross in. This season will be a struggle based on this performance. We only seem to play well in spells of around 3 or 4 minutes and would certainly not be capable of a full 90 minutes of good football. After the final whistle only about three of the ICT players applauded the away support which was a bit of a shocker I thought. Barry was first down the tunnel and appeared to be peeved that he didn't get a game and had a face as long as the M6. Here's hoping we are all proved wrong and ICT have a cracking season starting next Saturday at Aberdeen.

Burnley FC V ICT.... 2/8/08
With all due respect to Claertfan I'll take on board what has been said and, being a decent sort of a chap that I am, I will bite the bullet and give Burnley a go. Hopefully the day will pass without incident and it'll be a decent game of football. Is it pay at the gate by the way?

Who the heck are Inverness Thistle??? :004: :001:

What hope big names??
East Fife = Central belt; Inverness = Highlands....think I've sorted that one out... :004: But, yes, you're right, what chance have we got.

For a few dollars more....
Baring in mind todays costs of actually getting to a match I find this totally out of order and I sincerely hope nobody goes. Surely clubs should be helping fans to attend instead of trying to turn them away. May their greed bite them hard in their pockets. :33:

Which team will be promoted to the SFL?
Congratulations to Annan Athletic on being elected to the SFL. Bit of a shocker that one as I really thought Spartans would do it but they went out in the first round of voting. Annan's first game as an SFL side will be at the ice station to take on Clyde in the challenge cup.

Burnley FC V ICT.... 2/8/08
I went to Burnley once....never ever again will I go there. I remember a group of us being chased all the way to railway station after a game (that Burnley won) by their hooligan fans. Be careful if you go because the natives are certainly not friendly.
