  1. I'm not rooting for any one person over any other, though I do feel we shouldn't turn to the past for the future, but, assuming it was Brewster who came in what would be everyones thoughts on Barry being his No 2. The reason I'm asking is that I dont think DP will stay under Brew.
  2. The only thing I'd add is the need to get a defensive system in place and that may mean transfers before end of month.
  3. Personally I think it could be too soon for Pele to get back into the top flight with the pressures that brings. The guy is still recovering from his past problems and, just now, he is enjoying both his careers. Until he's 100% sure that he can give up one career and take the other on full time, without the need to drown his sorrows, he will stay as he is.
  4. The man who will do the best job / be the best manager is the one who can get the players we have to gel as a team and to play good football. Whoever it may be.
  5. neksor, before rumbling your gums perhaps you should learn some facts. I have never been, nor did I claim to be, a shareholder in either of the two previous clubs. I am a shareholder in the present company registered at company house as 'Inverness Thistle and Caledonian Football Clubs Plc'. And to correct another point. Ok I overstated about having a right to know who earns what. Shareholders in any company, in order to save hassles and to comply with regulations, vote in an independant auditor to look over the companies accounts. That auditor goes through everything with a fine toothcomb to ensure everything is in order. If shareholders feel the accountant has not done his job properly, or their is suspicion over the figures they can demand to know the breakdown.
  6. Sorry mate but as a shareholder in Inverness Thistle and Caledonian Football Clubs I think I do have a right to know what he earns. I had actually heard of Niculae before. And I would love you to be right about the guy's ability.
  7. :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
  8. Yes.................he's brought in on megabucks but nobody knows much about him other than the fact he has his own website with his own home movies on it. If he turns out to be the messiah some folk think he is then great. Until I witness a **** sight better than I have so far then I will remain sceptical.
  9. Dargo had a proven quality and would have shown the others what they could achieve. What has Niculae proven. Yep, scored a few for his national team.......................against who?
  10. Mrs Henry's mum been gossiping again Johndo?
  11. I'm with you on all that oh great immortal extruder of knowledge and wisdom. Contrary to what was said on another thread, I dont wear tinted specs and my lug is forever trailling the ground :023:
  12. And perhaps he also has duties to perform as vice-chairman
  13. I actually think that money would not be an issue for Warnock. He brought his missus up with him last year and she loved the place so that in itself could be a deciding factor.
  14. Insinuating the man has not been in the game for years and has no football knowledge, in my book, is slagging the man off. Its Graeme Bennett who brought in the players we have. Its him who spends a lot of time negotiating deals. And, as has been said already, its him who brought in our previous managers, and who will bring in the next one. The trouble with some, who post on here, is that they have an Old Firm mentality. This team is young but it is maturing and at the right sort of pace and its the people like Bennett, Sutherland, and now Savage who will ensure that the pace doesn't go too fast. They are the ones with the heart and the will to ensure Inverness CT will be a successful business for years to come.
  15. .........our own young Dale Gillespie who has been called up for the Scotland U-19 squad to face Iceland in a friendly next month.
  16. Stole the following transcript from The Caley Jags Bebo page. Hope he dont mind, after all he stole it first. Brewster wants Inverness return Craig Brewster celebrates scoring for Aberdeen at the weekend Craig Brewster is on a short-term contract with Aberdeen Craig Brewster would relish the chance of a return to management with his former club, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, BBC Sport understands. Former Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock is the only candidate to so far publicly express an interest after Charlie Christie's resignation. But 41-year-old Aberdeen striker Brewster emerged as an early favourite. Inverness have yet to talk to potential candidates but hope to make an appointment by the weekend. Indeed, the Caley Thistle board has decided to gauge the feelings of the Scottish Premier League club's supporters before making an appointment. Directors will meet members of the club's supporters' trust on Wednesday evening to discuss head coach Christie's resignation on Monday citing the pressures of the job. Director of football Graeme Bennett told BBC Sport: "We haven't made contact with anyone yet. "We'll have a meeting tomorrow morning to draw up a list of two or three candidates, but we're aware that we have to get our skates on. "We haven't set a specific deadline, but ideally we'd like to have someone in place by the weekend." Bennett would not be opposed to a former manager returning to the club, John Robertson having also been linked with the job along with Brewster. The Inverness director would not speak about individual potential candidates, although he had earlier been quoted by the Daily Express confirming that Warnock's name had been put forward. Warnock quit the Blades following their relegation from the Premiership in England last season. And the 58-year-old said: "I have often talked about managing in Scotland. "We have family up there and my wife has already said she would like to live in Scotland at some point. "I'm dying to get back into the game and if Inverness or anybody else want to talk to me then I would be more than delighted to do so." "I have not always been money-motivated. For me, it is more about the size of the challenge and working for people who have faith in me." Brewster's first, 14-month spell in charge at the Caledonian Stadium ended in January 2006. He had been persuaded to end his time at the Highland club by a return to Dundee United, where he lasted nine months before resuming his playing career at Pittodrie. Robertson, who recently took charge of Derry City, had ended his two-year spell at Caledonian Stadium in 2004 after being enticed back to former club Hearts. Speculation has also linked Maurice Malpas, who parted company with Motherwell during the summer, with the Inverness job. But reports suggesting that injury-plagued Celtic and Scotland defender Steven Pressley could be a candidate are wide of the mark. Meanwhile, Christie's assistant, Donald Park, who is staying on for the moment as caretaker, has already been ruled out the running. Sourse: BBC Sports Scotland
  17. ..........I'm amazed by the number of new people who have registered with the site since yesterday. So many of them appear to be young women. I just wonder the reasoning behind this. Are they hoping to influence the board as to the required qualities of the new manager....looks etc. Don't get me wrong. It's great to have so many female fans and I hope you all keep looking in and become friends with the mad, bad, beerswilling, moaning, Dingwall slagging crew of HMS Sneck that are the Innes Internutters. Ladies, perhaps you'd like to expand
  18. Alex MacLeod replied to a post in a topic in Caley Thistle
I would imagine Derry would want compensated if he was to come and I doubt Sutherland, as a major shareholder, would sanction such a payment.
  19. Pele, Robbo, Brewster, Christie. To me thats 4 in 10 years and 3 in 5
  20. Seems to have worked ok with Barry Wilson, Dennis Wyness and Richard Hastings. Why not Brew? Right now we are propping up the table with no points. Brewster is a safe pair of hands and someone we know. I would love to see him back at ICT. Was referring to managers not players. How about Pressley and Wilson? Under the wing of DP
  21. CHRISTIE SAY'S ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
  22. Christie says enough is enough ALASDAIR FRASER August 21 2007 Craig Brewster and John Robertson have been thrust into contention for the position of manager at Caley Thistle. The job became vacant when Charlie Christie turned his back on the job after Caley had experienced a poor start to the season. It is understood that Christie put Robertson's name forward as his favoured successor, while after Brewster's departure early last year, the club's board had emphatically ruled out turning the clock back in their appointments. advertisement However, with a different chairman, Alan Savage, having replaced David Sutherland at the helm, there now appears to be a change in policy. Graeme Bennett, the club's director of football, said nobody, including past managers, would be ruled out of the hunt for Caley's fifth manager in five years. "We're conscious of the transfer window closing," he said yesterday. "That's key. We won't set targets but the preference is for sooner, rather than later. I think we've got to look at the whole picture before making a choice. I wouldn't rule anybody out at this stage. "We've always had the strategy of going for a young manager. Do we change that? I don't know. We'll decide on Wednesday when we chat as a board and get a steer as to which route we want to go down. That may or may not take in some of our old managers. I'm open-minded." Brewster's impact at Inverness was impressive in his first managerial post before a miserable time at Dundee United. It is thought he has a release clause in his Aberdeen playing contract allowing him to take a managerial post. Robertson, now manager of Derry City, guided Caley Thistle into the SPL with a title and Bell's Cup double, but his career also turned sour at Hearts after leaving Inverness. Bennett claimed he was "shocked" by Christie's move, which was made final on Sunday morning. "This is not one of those supposed mutual consent' resignations, he said. "The first I knew was over the weekend when Charlie told me the stress of management was becoming far worse than he had expected. He felt that, in fairness to his wife and family, he needed to step down." The director of football added that a third successive league defeat to St Mirren was not the root cause of resignation. Rather, the suffocating pressures of trying to further the team he served with distinction in the town of his upbringing had simply become too much. "Charlie is part of the family here and has been a great part of the success we've had," said Bennett. "We would like to keep him here in some capacity and that is also his wish. As well as being our manager, Charlie is a close friend and has been for years. Charlie is Charlie - he beats himself up when we lose and takes it very hard. To be fair, he was the same as a player but just felt it had gone too far this time. "I admire his honesty. This time when I talked to him on Sunday morning I knew that there was no point in trying to talk him around. I just knew for sure he'd made up his mind. Even when he took the job, he had concerns and was honest about them at the time. "If you are not enjoying your work and by the nature of the job you are living it Saturday to Saturday and taking it home with you, it is going to get to you." Bennett, as a high-profile figure in his home city, has tasted similar. Like Christie, he finds it hard to go out for a quiet meal or drink in Inverness without harassment, whether it is mild football-related banter or something more aggressive. "Inverness is a very different place now compared to what it used to be," he said. "Charlie and I are Inverness boys and we've been mates for years. However, the intensity of it given the way expectations have risen so steeply makes it difficult to just enjoy a quiet pint. "Everywhere you go, it's football, football, football and you can't switch off. We shared the drive home from Paisley on Saturday night and he told me his thoughts. Charlie is an emotional guy and can say things in the heat of the moment. In January and then in March there were similar scenarios. "I asked him to sleep on it and then he came around to my house on the Sunday morning, but I just knew when I looked at him, it was different this time. This time it was for real whereas before it hadn't been as strong a feeling. "I'm disappointed because there was no pressure from us. We were happy with the job he was doing. His record is good - I'm clear on that - and finishing eighth after seventh the year before was a great achievement along with seven points from nine against Rangers." Christie's record in a little over 18 months in the job stands up well in comparison to predecessors Steve Paterson, Robertson and Brewster. Up to the end of last season, he had won 24 and drawn 17 of 63 games in charge before this season's defeats to Rangers, Motherwell and St Mirren.
  23. Brew and Grassa are still very pally.
  24. Brew may have been a United fan but I doubt whether he has any love for the grocer. And he still has his house in Inverness so I suppose he could come in at the drop of a hat. I do however, feel that its a backward step to bring anyone back for another term.
  25. Perhaps what they are saying is, "why should I work my balls of to get a start on the pitch when someone can walk in on 4 times my salary and then expect me to perform 110% in order that he can shine and move on" To hazard a guess as to the answer there may be deemed to be a very savage thing.
