We'll maybe have to wait until the new squad numbers are revealed!

Billy's close to signing a new contract, apparently.

Looks like the club are not looking to sell any players during the close season. Clears up any unfounded speculation in the press recently over Graeme Shinnie  :clapoverhead:

Reckon we still need to lock down Tansey, Shinnie, McKay, Watkins, Meekings and Raven this summer as they would be the ones I'd be poaching. I'd like Ross to get an extension but can see it would be frustrating having to settle for the od substitution. Polworth and Devine extensions in January as well.

Ryan Baptie's addition is a one-year deal, according to the P&J. Although, I'm sure I read it was a 2-year deal elsewhere!

If the squad list on the main site is correct, the only number change this season is that Ryan Christie will wear the number 22 jersey.  Presume Horner (if he has signed) will wear 17, leaving 13 and 21 free.

Dont think we've ever used 13. At least I dont recall ever seeing it

Rory McAllister is the only player to ever be allocated it.  Think Golabek wore it in a friendly once as well, but that's it.

Lewis Horner signed a one year deal.

It's a one year deal, but the club have an "option" on a second year.

Excuse my ignorance on contractual matters but how does that work , the club can insist on a second year even it the player doesn't want it ?

I have no idea what the specific terms are, but that's pretty much how I understand it....although the "option" is generally on enhanced terms for the player.

I guess it's a compromise from both sides.  The player may not have got the terms he wanted now and the club may not have wanted to commit longer than they have.  With this kinda deal, the player gets a chance to prove themselves and earn the enhanced terms and if it doesn't work out then the club can let them go at the end of the initial contract.  Again, I don't know, but there's also the chance the player might get some kind of lump sum in regards of "back pay" if the option is activated.

When the player has the "option" it generally involves meeting certain triggers which then allow them to activate it....that might be playing X number of games, or for a striker, scoring x number of goals for the club.

Probably a whole host of other things that could be in there that I haven't thought of.

Great indeed but hopefully Shinnie, Tansey, Watkins, Raven and Mckay all follow suit!

We've done really well keeping the majority of our squad intact over the past few seasons - having the players committing to extended contracts has been key to team continuity and harmony, as well as sending-out the message that Inverness CT is a more than 'viable' place to progress one's career.

However, time seems to have flown (!) and many of these guys are approaching the expiry date of their contracts...

All 9 are important, for different reasons - I would love us to retain all of them, obviously!

Shinnie - goes without saying.  The best left-back in the league. That said, I agree with the manger, another season with us would benefit both.

Devine - not a first-team regular, but certainly the immediate pick if/when Warren or Meekings are out through injury or suspension.

Tansey - has been a revelation since returning. Certainly a better, more 'rounded' player after his spell down south.

Polworth - a squad player, but holds his own whenever needed and whose best years are yet to come. Would be a waste if he was released, to say, Elgin!

McKay - proven goal-scorer at Scottish Premiership level and a vital player for us - I'd expect renewed interest in Billy, come January.

Raven - a mainstay of the team, for a few years now - often unspectacular but reliable and seems settled here.

Ross - Nick's a local lad, but sentiment aside, is a terrific player with an abundance of experience for his age. Keep!

Watkins - outstanding this season. An integral part of the team who must be kept.

Meekings - improving all the time. Will certainly be drawing attention, but at 22 should be looking to develop further, with us, for at least another season.
