Macron - New Kit Supplier

Just thought I'd drop this here following the announcement of Macron as the official kit supplier next season. As a West Ham fan they supplied our kits from 2010-2013. Back then the away shirt from one season became the third shirt in the following year, extending the life. I'm guessing that's perhaps a thing of the past now.

First up - and as outlined in the release yesterday - the kits are bespoke designs. No template nonsense, just a kit designed specifically for the club. At WHU we had some nice designs - the away kits in particular were based on retro fan favourites from the 60s and 70s.

I saw some comments yesterday about sizing coming up samll. I never had an issue with my normal size (I think I was in XL then). If anything I'd say they came up big from memory. Maybe they've cut back on material these days.

Quality - the shirts themselves were fine. No better or worse than competitors. The Macron logo and club crest were embroidered (although back then the Macron logo was simply the word rather than their logo now). However, the macron logo printed on the sleeve and the sponsor logo printed on the front were not such good quality. These peeled off, at least the "upper" did, when being washed, leaving a silver coloured "shadow" on the shirt. It took a few washes to start happening, but certainly within the season. I saw a good number around at the time that had the same issue.

Some of the "training" wear was good. Again nice simple designs of decent quality, but the printing issue (of the macron branding) remained on these too. The club crest was again embroidered so no issue there.

I'd be interested to know what @Eagle4Caley might think, as they are the current Crystal Palace supplier, to see if he is aware if any of the above has changed in the intervening years.

Can anyone say Errea!! I have Adidas kit for Scotland just recently purchased and XL is fine. I tend to hover between XL and XXL depending on the cut from a normal supplier ... but with Errea I was 4 or 5XL !!! Has to be said though, I did like Errea quality, especially of the leisure wear. I still have a couple of ICT polos from 20 years ago that I wear to knock around the garden or in the house ... I think the top in my profile pic is also Errea and good quality.

I’ve highly rated 3 of the last 4 palace homes and a couple of the aways have been pretty good. Looking forward to seeing what we get. I know you can’t help it but sometimes it’s the crappy sponsor logo that ruins the design. In this years instance it makes it look a little cheap.

Palace tops are always way more vibrant colours of red and Blue tan ict have ever used. I think they need to go down the Palace route and get them zingy, popping tops

Really need the logo badges to be embroidered for me, the white outline looks rubbish. Could just about live without embroidery so long as the white outline isn’t there.

Kids and babies sizes would be nice, so many babies are put in football tops as ‘their first strip’.

Fan engagement on design gets us all excited, use CTO as a platform.

For me, the problem with the current badge is the size of the outline, its too big. Understand it is cheaper to produce so could live with the stick-on badge if it looked more 'normal' . Definitely prefer embroidered though.
