Dear all. Much speculation is being made about new forwards with the potential departure of Rooney but what about our limitations at the back. Tokely is no spring chicken and often gets out skilled and left behind by younger more skilful opposition forwards. Grant Munro, a regular starter is leaving along with Chirs Hogg, Golabek, and Chris Innes. We could have a problem on our hands here people. Gillet is good but having been out for the majority of the season is still, in my view, not fully proved his defensive capabilities yet. I think this will be a fair greater problem for Butcher versus who to replace upfront especially as Sutherland, Ross, Foran and (hopefully) Doran, are all scoring for fun just now. If we cant find quality players in Scotland or the UK for a reasonable price, that we can afford, why do we not look abroad. Eastern Europe and South America are full of young athletic players just waiting for the chance to prove themselves of the greater scale. Now I'm not saying Caley is amongst one of the top clubs in the UK but our reputation in the media both in Scotland and down south certainly allows for players to up their profile. Just look at the old Niculae getting back into his international team after a stint with us and everyone knows the famous "Super Caley" headline! If I was Butcher I would be looking abroad especially at this young chap Alejandro Melean playing for Oriente Petrolero. He has come from nowhere and in a year he has played so well for them he now fronts this clubs programs.
