  1. Yep. I remember a Sunday afternoon game early in 2012-13 season, where we got absolutely turned over, 4-1 I think. Seem to remember that TSNY was absolutely seething at Owain Tudur Jones for some reason - did he possibly get sent off? ETA: Just checked the match report. No, OTJ didn't get sent off, but he was replaced by Gavin Morrison after about an hour, so presumably he wasn't having much of a game. Or maybe Butcher got sick of TSNY shouting at him... I was reminding Johndo yesterday that he was actually sitting next to me that day...... thoughts of that grubbing were filling my mind yesterday as I parked up in Motherwell in the pishing rain. Also the goal that Raven flogged just as we were wondering whether we'd signed a dud, and just before TB realised that Josh would be better as a CB than a RB...... But most of the damage that day was done by John Sutton, and in the absence of Sutton, Motherwell's endless punts into the box were comfortably mopped up by Devine and Meekings. I actually thought it was a solid defensive display and other than the high balls, Motherwell were reduced to shots from 25 yards. The extended highlights show that williams didn't have a save to make. i also thought that Ainsworth might run Tremarco ragged but he only got to run at him once in the first half, and he sold himself for their goal, but apart from that he had a decent game. When we got possession and passed it we had Motherwell rattled but we created very little with it. To me, when I've seen them play together, Lopez actually looks like a player who can anticipate Ryan Christie's thoughts but unfortunately he's as slow as a week in Dingwall.
  2. Despite it being an awful season injury-wise, if we'd managed to find another goal against a pretty poor Dundee side last week we'd be lying 5th with Uncle Roy's plaything in their rightful place below us
  3. If he'd listened to me he'd have put it to Ripley's left the first time and saved all the booing
  4. Oh well, a home game for some of us. Also a visit to Tynecastle coming up on December 5th.
  5. Have to say only Prestonfield (Linlithgow ) would appeal to me. A ground as good as any in the HL and a massive social club. Huntly/Wick...... Meh. LTHV- play at Saughton enclosure which is an absolute dump. Edinburgh Council facility. I'd take Formartine though as I've never been. Also loads of our old haunts such as Cliftonhill and Cowdenbeath and Gayfield. probably end up at St Mirren though.
  6. Killie-Motherwell got even less. Showed the winning goal and that's all. we had a disallowed goal I would have liked to see again plus the misses from polworth and meekings in the second half.
  7. Aye he has Rene, considering where he came from he's done a good job, but CMIB was saying whether he has really filled Shinnie's boots. Shinnie must be about a size 18 :-)
  8. Teams have cottoned on to Tremarco as a weakness and in the first half everything seemed to be coming down our left. Shame as he's really good going forward but defensively he's poor. I thought Devine had come on a lot in the past year and even imagined he could fill Warren's boots, but this season how many times has he let us down with horrorshow defending like the penalties v Dundee and St Johnstone. Anyway roll on Saturday as you say big man.
  9. No excuses. County were the better team by a mile which most people could have predicted after we won at theirs. What a howling team we are at home. Maybe they could have won it without booting Christie mind (or pulling the shirt off his back).
  10. Only Formartine, Turriff, Buckie or Peterhead would be new ones for me. Otherwise a wee trip to Elgin. Or Cliftonhill or Forfar or Bayview, something like that. Last time we played in Coatbridge was 9/11.
  11. My tuppence worth 3 wrong so far but delighted that Talbot were one of them......
  12. Only 12? Pah! What are your memories of Adam Rooney? I recall he didn't set the heather alight, or whatever passes for heather in Swindon, but he's a far more complete player now and banging them in for Aberdeen.
  13. The BBC recently agreed to pay £204M to cover highlights on MOTD for the next 3 seasons. ITV declined to bid. with the BBC being our national broadcaster you'd expect a proportionate amount, say £20M, to be allocated to the SPFL. However the BBC admits that its bids are now market-driven and not on a community or population basis. In other words it suits them to throw even more money at the richest league in the world even though Scottish football is dying on its feet and desperately needs the investment. As an aside, the Scottish 'take' from the Tv license is c£300M while the budget of BBC Scotland in 2016 will be £86M. OK, I'm not forgetting that for that £300M we also get access to Eastenders etc, but next time you complain about the amateurish coverage with Billy Dodds etc, remember that a whole season of Sportscene costs as much as 1 episode of MOTD.
  14. They're getting their Highland clubs mixed up again..... Yogi staying at County
  15. Dunfermline away tues at EEP. Unfortunately it's a 6pm ko so I won't make it. Even if I could I wouldn't fancy the Edinburgh bypass in the rush hour.......
  16. I'm sure he is very good at saying positive things about the Caley Thistle team. (compliments v complements) A couple of months ago I was heating up a tin of Baxters soup, and while waiting for the microwave 'ping' I had a look at the description on the label...and was astonished to discover that they'd sourced some talking herb! Apparently the thyme complimented the chicken! Perhaps, "good day, sir - you do look terrific, not at all fowl". Obviously, they meant 'complemented' - i.e...go well together... One swift e-mail (seriously!) and later that week, I received Baxters vouchers in the post and a letter assuring me that the error would be corrected in he next 'print run'! Sometimes, it pays to be a pedant! But, obviously, at the expense of a normal life. Are there no any stats requiring your urgent attention?
  17. Might have a wee nosey at over the seethe message board tonight, telly's usually rotten on a Saturday
  18. I remember the sections could be a bit tedious but I don't agree at all with the rest. I don't think the concept of playing a weakened side had been invented back then (in fact I wonder if clubs could be penalised for it) and the finals tended to get 60-70000 which clubs would kill for nowadays. I remember the Dundee-Celtic final of 73 in which Bobby Wilson played got only 28000 but that was in Ted Heath's 3 day week. My first final was 1970 between the twins of evil and won by a 16 year old Derek Johnstone and there were 106000 there.
  19. Wick go 2-1 up in 92 mins........Whitehill equalise on 95 to take them back to Rosewell next Saturday
  20. Not just Ryan Christie that can score crackers........ https://youtu.be/bfGwjgudKj4
  21. I've got a tune somewhere by Ivan Drever or Wolfstone or whatever. I'm sure it's called something like 'The Colonel' and the sleeve notes mention something about how he liked going to watch his beloved Caley Thistle. Had a rummage through my CDs but can't find it.
