  1. Darren Dods?? Machine!!!!! would love a player in the mould of Dods back with us now!
  2. I'm sure i heard somewhere that County were trying to sign Cadamarteri
  3. O'Conner while being a pretty good footballer has some well documented issues and ive just read this about Riordan: source: http://m.local.stv.tv/edinburgh/magazine/103946-footballer-derek-riordan-banned-from-entering-city-centre-at-night/ Would take a very brave manager to gamble on having both in the same team
  4. I fear the same. Butcher doesnt have a great history in the transfer market (baring a couple of gems) so its going to be an interesting summer trying to sign quality with a reduced budget
  5. Think Alex was meaning that Hayes was panicing as it came out before he informed ICT, well thats how I read it anyway My mistake, I misunderstood that it was us fans that were panicing! Not yet but not far off if our players continues to jump ship! Hayes has tweeted his final word on the issue "This is the last tweet about the matter, I dont have my sim card on holiday on holiday and I wont be making a decision Til I get back! Have a good day"
  6. Agree that all to often our style of hoof and hope play didnt suit him. When he was on form and we played football on the deck he looked very good. I liked him as a player but when you have a player who is more suited to a technical game than Scotlands physical game then there was only ever going to be one outcome. Glad to see him doing well overseas
  7. Dont think anyone is panicing Alex, just a lot of people confused over a lot of conflicting communication, assumption and rumour on where Hayes will be playing next season. I am the first one to admit our chances of holding onto him are slim to none and am under no illusions that our offer to him will in no doubt be double if not trebled or more by other clubs If, according to media reports, he has only verbally agreed terms with Aberdeen while on holiday then what would stop him phoning Tel to say thanks gaffer for a few good years but i'm off east to cuddle some sheep?
  8. Maybe a poor choice of words on my part however it seems strange that Aberdeen announce a deal is agreed while Jonny himself seems keen to distance himself from any deal being agreed. Anyways i stand by my original point in another thread, big lack of ambition shown by him moving to Aberdeen IMO
  9. well someone is telling porkies somewhere Aberdeen official site saying he has agreed a deal: http://www.afc.co.uk/articles/20120530/jonny-hayes-agrees-deal-with-dons_2212158_2791689
  10. Extremely dissapointed losing Hayes to Aberdeen, really thought he would have shown more ambition than that. I can see why Tade moved, he wont be on much more than he was here in terms of wages but the lure of playing in Europe is one i can fully understand. Wonder if our club will ever realise that offering 1 year deals and waiting till their contract expires before offering them a new deal is getting us nowhere and if we continue to do it then we will get relegated sooner rather than later. TB said last year that he wanted to rebuild the team (which he did to a lot of grumbles) and then retain them at the end of this season so that we can push on. It is blatantly clear that this has not worked due to the majority of the team being able to speak to other clubs after 6 months of signing. Hope lessons have been learned and now it is pretty much back to square one and we are going to have a pretty big rebuilding job on our hands again this year Have to say that todays news has left me very down about next season. I have real fears about our survival in the league next year
  11. Ive heard that Hartlepool are showing interest now, Neale Cooper is managing there now so probably trying to do County a favour by signing one of our better players I dont think Hayes is going to be short on offers
  12. the subbuteo re-enactments are brilliant!! Genuinely made me laugh out loud
  13. London is really the only place that is going to benefit from this. Huge expense and for me the only people to benefit are those living in London itself. If there is any money made on their billions of pounds of investment then I cant seeing it being distributed equally on the taxpares that funded it! May watch a few events on the telly but that will be the extent of my involvement
  14. Really wouldnt be suprised if Tade ends up at St Johnstone next season. Whether that is a good or a bad thing for us is open to debate!
  15. Theres an article in todays Press and Journal about Tade, sounds like it is a straight choice between us and St Johnstone. Tade mentions playing in Europe being a big draw but also says that he would like to repay the faith that Mr Butcher showed in him. 50/50 where he ends up next season No online link yet
  16. I am a little worried about the future for ICT but I think that stems from the shambles that is the SPL at the moment. I don’t think I would be as worried if there weren’t issues over future TV money and league restructuring I’m not sure I buy into this point of view that we need local players in the team to ensure passion and loyalty. These are characteristics of a person that are down to the individual rather than where he is from. Given the choice between having a successful team with a team made up of not local players or a poor team full of local players I know which one most of us would choose. I think our current spell of bad form is not down to the fact we dont have a lot of local players in the team but more down to the fact our budget and geography dictates we can only buy players of a certain quality IMO I would be great if we could fill our team with local talented youngsters and do well in the SPL but I doubt we will ever see this. Football is a primarily a business and loyalty to local players or indeed long serving players is becoming a thing of the past. Not saying I like it but its becoming part and parcel of the game Using ICT as an example I think the days of us filling a team with numerous local players are long gone. I think more often than not in the coming years we will be filling teams with a mix of Scottish players from the central belt and English youngsters released from bigger clubs. The only exception to this will be a few young players ( similar to the likes Nick Ross, Gavin Morrison etc) on the fringes of the squad and maybe the odd local player doing well becoming a first team mainstay (similar to Munro) To look at the theory that many other teams/managers use predominantly local players in their teams I'm not sure I buy into this either. Ross County currently have only three players born relatively local to Dingwall (Michael Fraser - Drumnadrochit, Grant Munro - Inverness and Alec Cooper - Inverness) hardly bristling with local talent! St Johnstone have only 2 players in their first team who were born in Perth in Kevin Moon and Stevie May. Aberdeen seem to recruit strongly in Aberdeen with 9 locally born players in their first team but have been largely disappointing in the last 5 seasons if not more. Dundee United have 2 players born in Dundee with a 3rd joining them this summer in Michael Gardyne. The old firm have hardly been well know for filling their first teams with local talent and Hearts and Hibs teams are more often than not filled with foreign players. I think the idea that players are only loyal to a club if they are born in the city they play is fast becoming a myth. Money is often the only thing that players play for nowadays. I think the days when players like Giggs and Scholes play their entire careers at one club are going to be a thing of the past. Loyalty these days is a very rare thing and more often than not money speaks louder than anything
  17. Thought he was just starting to show a bit of form in the last few games of the season but had too many indifferent displays. If he had stayed I think he could have been a pretty decent player for us next season. As others have said however he wasnt the free scoring midfielder we had hoped for. Hopefully Terry can replace with a more prolific attacking midfielder anyways, all the best Greg
  18. Terry has set a deadline of the 31st of May for players who have been offered new deals to decide by. Really glad to hear this so that we can get a full squad together and have a full pre-season together. Waiting until the transfer deadline day to finalise the squad is not a good way to go I have assumed that the Courier article is a typo and its May rather than March! Story here: http://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/Sport/Football/Caley-Thistle-set-deadline-for-out-of-contract-stars-24052012.htm
  19. Mcguire and Croft would both be on wages outwith our reach. Basically we cannot compete with championship teams and would struggle to offer better terms than a lot of league 1 teams. I certainly dont like it but thats the way it is. St Johnstone were very lucky to have Lee Croft on loan last season (much like us with David Davis) but i would think they, like us, would struggle to offer him wages even close to what he is on. I would be very suprised if any of the signings we make in the summer will be well known names. I would imagine most will be youngsters being released from U19 squads or academies
  20. Story in todays Press and Journal saying the St Johnstone have opened talks with Tade with a view to signing. Would have posted this in the rumour mill but it appeared to be quite clear from the online article that talks have begun source: http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Article.aspx/2779724 Dont know what to make of this. One on hand Tade was an absolute handful for opposition defence, scored a few important goals and gives 110% every game however he could be the most frustrating player ever getting into so many goal scoring positions only to miss when scoring seemed easier.
  21. Along with Hardie, Graham, and Mcdougall Out of that lot maybe David Graham could do a job for us. I have doubts about the rest
  22. Stephen Elliot is rumoured to be on around £4,000 a week, not a chance we will be signing a player on that sort of money
  23. Getting our first penalty this season was certainly memorable!
  24. R.Esson J. Meekings A. Doran S. Sutherland R. Foran A. Shinnie G. Shinnie G. Morrison N. Ross We can nearly field a team for next year now! WooHoo!
  25. delighted about this
