ICT -V- Hibernian : Matchday Thread
I though Rankin was excellent today, full of energy, tackling back and chasing almost every ball and had at least three very good chances, was a very dangerous attacking threat and at last i think Brewster has found the ideal position to play him. He was very unlucky not to get a goal today and i sincerely hope now any thoughts of seliing Rankin have been firmly brushed aside after two very impressive performances. Overall i think the whole team played very well today, a couple of shaky moments but overall very happy with the result. Dont get me started on Kenny Clark or the near side linesman, some terrible decisions especially when the Hibs goaly twice came outside his box when attempting to throw the ball out, Malky was livid! ha ha

Brewster Can Go
neither does a few bad ones mean that fans should be calling for the managers head, lets see how the season pans out before making rash calls

totally unexpected but delighted to get the three points. :crazy07: McGuire got the sportsound man of the match and as the commentator said Brewster has to make McGuire a permanent singing a priority in January!

Marius Niculae
No rant - just couldnt respond to the stats / facts so tried the personalised insults ya cowardly **** :001: Is 12 games not sufficient ?? And if ya read my comments correctly you will find me proffering a lot of positives and the negatives are in regard to Niculae's deficits and to the way he has been utilised. I will come to that closer to the Midden game. :023: respond to the stats? having studied statistics i came to the conclusion that 70% of stats are complete bollocks! i'm not a huge lover of stats, fair enough they can give a general picture but they can often be misleading. if football managers only took stats into consideration we would be in a sorry mess, and going by our current predicament very few of our squad have particularly good stats outwith Wyness. personalised insults? where exactly are the personalised insults? how have i displayed cowardice and what exactly is a **** by the way? personally i dont think 12 games is sufficient to warrant the criticism that has been dished out, just my humble opinion, i'm not worried by MN's lack of goals or his 'poor stats', i firmly believe he is and will be a great addition to the squad. and heyho even if it doesnt work out it certainly wont be the last time it'll happen in football. yup back to the thread, i dont think MN has displayed his full qualities yet but that i feel is down to him adjusting to the SPL and the fact it cant be easy showing your class with so many ropey displays at times this season! personally i think he has shown a great deal of desire to help the team and often chases back to defend and for me that is an admirable quality and worthy of my applause

Marius Niculae
give you a break? ha ha, you being serious? you havent given Niculae a break since the guy signed, give the guy a chance to settle in and adapt to the SPL, stikers all over the country take time to start scoring and i'm sure he'll start hitting the back of the net sooner rather than later, quite a few of our strikers have gone through barren spells and not had anywhere near the criticism Niculae has. its certainly not going to do anyone any good by continually crtiticising him. why dont you give MN and all of us a break from your continual griping! rant over
-
Brewster
you having a laugh? i cant argue with the sendings off but overall i thought the ref was very poor, highly inconsistent and seemed to give motherwell the decision in every 50/50 challenge
-
Brewster
i agree, i certainly thought we'd established ourselves as a SPL team, however if we carry on playing like we have been and failing to get points the only way we'll stay up is by another team being even worse and thats not a position i would like to see the club in!
-
Brewster
completely agree, without gretna we would be in an awful position, but even though gretna are in a worse position than us we cannot rest on the fact that gretna will continually fail to get points and in return save us from relegation, we have been going through a very bad run of form and the sooner were out of it the better. I sincerely hope that brew is the man for the job and can dig us out of this hole!
- Positives from today

Marius Niculae
spot on!

Positives from today
struggling to find anything positive from today other than is is blatantly obvious that bayne and wyness is NOT an effective partnership, hopefully now Wyness will start up front with Niculae and maybe Macdonald will be given a chance. i truly hope that today serves as an enormous kick up the backside to the players and management team and i sincerely hope i dont have to witness something like like that in a very, very long time! :008:

Brewster
agree with most of that, apart from the last bit! he should be out looking for a new centre half!
- Top men so far

who goes you decide....
Roy Macbain - i'm 50/50, i think he would be good to retain as a squad player as back up on the left; undecided Barry Wilson - let his contract run out and let him progress to a coaching role within the club keep Ian Black - keep, think he has a big part to play in ICt's future over the next few years Richie Hart - let his contract expire and release Alan Morgan - Release, as mentioned above, flatters to deceive, can be effective on his game but not consistent enough Russel Duncan - keep, highly effecive and under-rated defensive midfielder Don Cowie - keep, vital part of the current team John Rankin - definately keep, i think he is massively under-valued and has lots to offer the team if only given the chance, should start ahead of Roy IMO, has great vision and a great left foot not to mention he works very well with Cowie Zander Sutherland - keep for the time being but i think he needs first team football to see whether he can cut it in the SPL Markus Paatelainen - release, i think injury free he could be a good squad player but has a terrible injury history (though no fault of his own) and just cant see him being a sustained first team candidate Garry Wood - Although not a midfielder i'll put forward my opinion, promising striker who should be given the chance, keep Iain Vigurs - highy rated and looks to be a very bright prospect, keep

John Rankin
article up on the official site seems to explain it pretty well,

John Rankin
i dont think too many ICT players showered themselves in glory at the start of this season, so to single out Rankin is unfair and unjust. it has been a very very slow start to the season but last nights cup game aside we have been gradually improving our overall performance. Agreed Rankin took a while to adapt to the SPL last year but when he did he became a valuable memeber of the team and i think still has an a huge amount to offer the team. I think with the current under-performances in the team both Morgan and Rankin should be given their chance to stake their claim for a place in the team. They both bring different things to the team, morgan can be used almost as a winger and as we know can swing in very dangerous crosses where as rankin has the ability to make things happen through the middle and is not afraid to shoot from outside the box, something which i think we've been lacking recently. IMO Rankin should be given a start within the next few games, fair enough not at Ibrox i think McBain would be better suited as he can defend well when necessary. (mind you did Rankin not score a screamer against the gers at the start of the year?)

unbelievable, i dont know whether to shout, laugh, scream or punch my monitor, cant believe the score so far! aberdeen are not a good team, how we cannot beat them is one of lifes unexplainable mysteries!
