Juanjos Back....................
surely getting a suitable squad assembled as quickly as possible for next seasons top six challenge is pretty high up on the list of important things to adress for next season? :024:

John Hughes/Craig Brewster
- Next lot of fixtures
knowing our luck......probably not we'll just have to wait until the fixtures are put up on the SPL website at 10pm tonight. :rolleyes02:- brewster
absolutely, it is a huge IF. Also there is a certain curse to remember that seems to affect employees to leave for pastures new....... :023:- brewster
agreed, i would hope that with Brewster and Peter Davidson both focused a stong fitness minded training regime that this would be unaffected by a change in DoF. personally i feel that robbo, while not being the model candidate, would bring more to the role of DoF than the current employee.- brewster
having played at and being involved with much larger clubs than ICT surely he could offer more as a director of football than grassa? not only would he have an idea infrastructure of bigger clubs (ignoring the shambolic management fiasco in place in his tenure at hearts) but also he would have contacts down in the central belt that may help in bringing players north. correct me if i'm wrong but wasnt Black a Robbo signing? what in particular do you have against him?- brewster

it is indeed bizarre, what irks me is the fact that the 'referee' is closer to the incident than the linesman so he should have a better view but for some strange reason he feels it necessary to consult the linesman. very strange indeed- How Many Players Do We Need For Next Season?
i reckon we could do with: 1) a new GK either as a replacement for Zibi or as immediate No. 1 for ike to challenge. 2) a big, no-nonsense centre half in the mould of mann or dods 3) a playmaker/attacking midfielder who is used as a direct link between the midfield. all to often our midfield has been by passed by the long ball, we need someone with the ability to put his foot on the ball and supply our forwards with decent balls. i feel this could quite easily be filled by none other than juanjo, i feel he could be the creative spark we've been missing recently, if he can re-capture the form we know he is capable off anyway. 4) a pacy striker, as it says on the tin, fast, capable of bursting past big lumbering centre halfs which there all to many off in the SPL i think that would proably be all that is necessary if we dont lose too many players over the close season. i certainly dont envy the task of getting the players we need up here, not an easy job by any means- Are You Still Behind Brewster?
i pretty much share the same views. I would be delighted if Brewster could arrest the current dip/trough/chasm in form and resolve the back room issues without any casualties however i cannot see it. i have been puzzled by some very puzzling tactical decisions over the last few games and i have been becoming increasingly worried with the shambolic treatment firstly of Rankin, then Wyness and now Munro and Black. I fear his managerial inexperience is beginning to show and unfortunately for everyone concerned it has resulted in a very poor run of form and back room issues. For that reason i have voted no- Something is wrong
after the revelations about the treatment of Black this threads title has to go down as the understatement of the year!!- CAPTION COMPETITION

FRASER PROCTOR MCGUIRE MUNRO HASTINGS COWIE BLACK DUNCAN PAATELINEN (sp?) NICULAE IMRIE- We Need A New Manager For Next Season
at least John Collins might getting us playing attractive passing football and not this ineffectual long ball 'insert expletive here' that is often served up. Certainly couldnt see it happening though, firstly i dont think we could afford to hire him, secondly i doubt he'd relocate up here and thirdly if as rumoured he was annoyed by the lack of funds made available for transfers then i cant see the situation being much different up here- Another week Still no Contracts
it doesnt suprise me that we still havent heard anything yet :008:- Players For Next Season
would agree with that although what ive seen of Imrie so far ive been impressed. with regards to the Gretna situation, like it or not we are not in a position to pick and choose any players we would like so if a good player becomes available even if he is sacked by another SPL club following administation then surely be must be seen as a viable transfer target. Skelton and Yantorno are two players that i feel may be useful additions if available and despite the fact that gretna have been mince i still feel they are decent players.- Niculae called up to Romania squad
linky fantastic news for marius, well done :clapping03:- Duncan
Like Golly & Caff you mean ? or like Mann, Teasdale, Bagan or others who were discarded by the club (and, it has to be said - by the fans too) at one point or another. And therein lies the problem ... Those who rate him are scratching their heads at why he can blow hot and cold, and those who dont rate him are scratching their heads at why others are bothered ! As I said above - I would indeed re-sign him if he is prepared to accept a decent offer in line with what other first team players get (assuming the club have actually made such an offer) but not if his (or his agent's) demands are that he be put on a par with Niculae as he doesnt warrant that. with regards to your first point, golly and caff were loyal servants but became somewhat dispensable (dont like using that word but cant think of another) as we had cover in their positions. I for one was sad to see Caff and Golly go as they were/are players capable of playing in the SPL but i can understand their desire to play regular football. Unfortunately sentiment has little place in football today and as much as i dislike the fact, money talks and that often means loyal, genuine, decent footballers like caff and golly are as you said 'discarded'. Duncan has one factor on his side, that neither Caff nor Golly had - the fact that there is no real direct comptetition for the holding role, Blackie can play it but i feel he is of more use in an attacking role. second point - couldnt agree more.- Duncan
good question and i think youve answered it later in your post, there are definitely things behind the scenes that we (as fans) are not party too but i think it would be a fair assumption that RD employs an agent to get the best deal available to him, thats fair enough, its what any sensible footballer does however someone evidently along the line has deemed it necessary to leak it to the media for whatever reason. IMO it should be between the player and the club but that doesnt always happen in football. Just one promotion in his 7 seasons with us! But I know what you mean. :004: just meant he was an integral part of the history of our young team basically- Duncan
IMHO Duncan has been a loyal servant to the club and has been instrumental in our rapid ascent through the leagues and this fact should not be forgotten. He has overall been a very good first team player and has undoubtedly won us games in the past with his strong defensive play and odd screamer thrown in here an there. However, all to often this season his good defensive covering and break-up play is immediately followed by a mis-placed pass or loss of possession which is not only highly infuriating for the fans but often counteracts his good work. If as reported in the press he is making high wage demands then surely he should be making sure that his play on the park merits such a high wage, i would have to say over the last 10 or so games ive seen him play then i would have to say it does not. i would like to see him stay but not if it causes further unrest with the players over parity in wages and certainly not if it eats into our budget for attracting new players to the club which i believe are needed.- Players For Next Season
