Semantics I would call David Raven a traditional full back, a defender who gets forward now and again to launch a cross into the box where as Shinnie is much more of an attacking threat who looks to drive forward whenever he can, what I would have called a wing back, just my opinion though I do agree that most top clubs nowadays are looking for their full backs to have a bigger contribution in attacking phases of play. Some confirmation about the Hooman deal falling through for the time being http://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/Sport/Football/Tremarco-relishing-SPFL-chance-18072013.htm

Marley Watkins has primarily been used in pre-season games as a right winger however he can play left wing also. Danny Williams is a left winger who can play left back if required though. Tremarco sounds like a more traditional left back, no frills tough tackler where as Shinnie is more of a rampaging wing back
  3. Goalkeepers Ryan Esson Dean Brill Nick Draper Cameron Mackay Right Backs David Raven Matthew Cooper Jay Cheyne Left Backs Graeme Shinnie Carl Tremarco Calum Holwarth Centre Backs Gary Warren Josh Meekings Danny Devine Jason Brown Joe Gorman Centre Midfielders Richie Foran Ross Draper James Vincent Liam Polworth Right Midfielders Marley Watkins Conor Pepper Ali Sutherland Left Midfielders Ben Greenhalgh Danny Williams Adam Evans Attacking Midfielders Aaron Doran Nick Ross Ryan Christie Centre Forwards Billy Mckay Curtis Allen Calum Ferguson Hazarding a guess that the players in blue will be in our U20 squad supplemented with a couple of first team fringe players. Have to agree that we do look a little light on the striker options, we were very lucky with Billy staying injury free last season, fingers crossed that he does again this season. I'm sure i've heard our budget is pretty much done for this summer so I would hope that we could maybe take in a loan striker to cover any potential injuries
  4. Doesnt sound like hibs fans were too impressed with OTJs debut. Did nothing of note other than miss a headed chance from 8 yards. Hibs fans preferred line up for the return leg all seem to drop him from the starting line up as well

Anyone know when Curtis Allen is likely to feature? think he's the only one of our summer signings yet to make a pre-season debut. Last I heard he was being put through a very tough fitness regime getting his fitness levels up to the same standard as the rest of the squad

Yeah thanks CaleyD, very pleasing to hear that Vincent is equally adept at playing in an advanced role as he is at a defensive role. I had previously heard he was used primarily in a defensive midfield position. Delighted to hear that Doran is looking impressive playing as #10 as I was quite worried how we would replace Shinniesta Danny Williams show up well?

Thanks Lizi how did Tremarco show up? wonder what sort of line up will be on show at Clach tonight
  9. Libero replied to izzy's topic in Caley Thistle
Not sure what the team was but Doran, Vincent and Raven started the game after recent injury problems and Tremarco got a run out in the second half. No idea about the rest of the team but heard it was a pretty strong line up

    Final score Brora 1 - 2 ICT
  12. Spelling has got absolutely nothing to do with footballing ability and if someone mis-spells a word then I cannot fathom how this would portray them in a bad light. Personally I don't really care if our players are spelling bee champions or use correct grammar, if they perform well on the pitch then that's sufficient for me. If you were to follow some more of our players tweets then you'd be slating most of them cause the grammar and spelling is rarely up to speed, but i'm sure 99.9% of fans wouldn't give a monkeys if their literary skills match their footballing skills
  13. I'm sure I heard somewhere that Joe Gorman, Adam Evans and Curtis Allen were joining up with the squad late so they probably won't have been in any photos. I notice that Raven wasn't in the photos, OTJ made a joke on twitter about an ex-teammate pulling a muscle before pre-season even started. Wonder if it's Raven

  15. Terry said in an article in one of the local papers earlier in the week that there wouldn't be any trialists this year. Budget pretty much spent other than money for a keeper
  16. I would hazard a guess that these numbers may well change. By the looks of pictures in today's Courier it looks like we have 2 number 9s (Foran and A.N.Other) Ryan Christie with number 6, Liam Polworth with a 28 numbered top and 20 numbered shorts and also someone I don't recognise with no 2. not raven unless he's gone a radical Wayne Rooney style hair replacement operation From the photo I can work out: 4 James Vincent 7 Billy McKay 9 Ritchie Foran 10 Aaron Doran 11 Nick Ross 15 Marley Watkins 17 ben Greenhalgh 18 Harry Hooman 19 Danny Williams 21 Connor Pepper 22 Matt Cooper
  17. My guess is Doran will take 10
  18. Going by a short bit of footage on north tonight from pre-season training today it looks like Vincent is number 4, going by his scoring record from the past few seasons and what I've seen from the interweb it seems like he is a direct replacement for OTJ and in the mould of a defensive mid. Looked like Greenhalgh was possibly 17, had a short interview with Ben and he came across very well.
  19. Robbie Thomson is on trial at Carlisle now
  20. Would be interesting to see how far he could have got if he hadn't lied that he could actually play football
  21. What/when/who? When Tade first moved to Scotland it is claimed he bent the truth a little on his CV to suggest he had been capped for the Ivory Coast
  22. Cant find any confirmation that his contract has expired or has been released. Would love to see him at the club and there have been rumours for a while that we have spoken to him. Always a possibility that his contract will expire at the end of June and will then speak to clubs. Going by what the press is saying today then Terry has identified and spoken a target and is awaiting word back however a signing is unlikely to be made prior to pre-season training starting on Thursday. He has been released And signed for Stenny again according to his Twitter I couldn't see anything on his twitter about signing with Stenny again? one of his latest tweets about a day ago says "off on my travels" with a little football icon next to it found something back on the 3rd of June responding to a question about his future with "got a few things on the go...Hopefully get sorted soon!"
  23. Libero replied to Yngwie's topic in Caley Thistle
The biggest thing I remember about Darren Mackie was that we created so many chances for him, not just half chances but clear cut chances and he could not finish them. One particular night, I think it must have been a midweek game and he had (among other chances) two one on ones with the keeper and fluffed both of them with style. Just seemed to me at the time to be a player with bags of pace and energy but little composure to keep his head when he needed it Todays papers are suggesting that Terry is keen to take Charlie Taylor back but that any loan deal wouldn't be happening till nearer the end of July. Also there is mention of speaking to Liam Brady at Arsenal to see if anything can be done regarding loans
  24. Libero replied to Yngwie's topic in Caley Thistle
Darren Mackie and Bajram Fetai are two that stick out in my memory as stinkers. Golobart for me had a great attitude and clearly had the potential to do well but I always cringed whenever he went near the ball. It would either be a magnificent piece of skill to outwit the attacker or hand the attacker a gilt edge chance. David Davis is one who instantly sticks out as a very successful loanee, cant think of too many others to have had such a positive impact
