  1. What a set up that would be!! Unfortunately I would think that the salaries combined would be out with our budget
  2. There's a few names on that list that worry me. Larsson is definitely one IMO. Brewster is another! Cant say i'm over-excited by the new names added to the pot today. Wouldn't imagine that Appleton and Blackwell have a great knowledge of the Scottish game and we have all seen in the past how difficult it can be for managers with little knowledge of the Scottish game coming to manage in the league Sounds like the guys still in the running are: Sutton, Hartley, Levein, Hughes, Levein, Lazlo and possibly a couple of others From that list I would still probably have Hartley as favourite
  3. *bump* interesting to see that Hartley is the clear frontrunner with the readers of this forum
  4. heres another good quote and linky for the article: http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/spfl-lower-divisions/alloa-paul-hartley-sticks-with-positive-approach-1-3062014
  5. Hiya kingsmills, hiya pal Just read these quotes from Hartley regarding the way he likes football played: Like the sound of that
  6. Agreed but we have made a few astute and successful managerial appointments in the past and its never taken this long. Just seems to me to be taking quite a long time, its been 2 full weeks we have been without a manager and that's excluding the 3 days of limbo after Butchers antics at the Hibs v ICT game. Maybe its just my impatience shining through
  7. I have to say that I thought we would have heard more by now. Even rumours are pretty thin on the ground at the moment. I think this is what is throwing the bookies odds all over the shop as no-one has really given anything away as to what we're going to do If, as we are led to believe, interviews are still being undertaken at the moment then it us unlikely a decision would be made by the board before Thursday/Friday at the earliest and then an announcement/unveiling on Friday or the beginning of next week. I certainly am not worried about the fact that Shearer, Kellacher and Foran are still running the show but I thought we would have something a bit more concrete to go on by now
  8. One of today's papers (cant remember which one) suggests that as Butcher's control of the football side of the club grew that Grassa's lessened and could have added to unrest. Also it is suggested that Grassa's opinion or indeed involvement in the managerial vacancy recruitment process was not needed or requested and this didn't sit well either
  9. Ex Ireland manager Giovani Trappatoni. Di Matteo? Di Canio? Recently read he was still getting paid £130000 a week by Chelsea. I don't think he will be looking for a job. If we were to appoint him then that would effectively mean he would be getting paid about £130,001 a week!!Shouldnt be sniffed at
  10. Ex Ireland manager Giovani Trappatoni. Di Matteo? Di Canio?
  11. Surely the South American would be Ardiles? I'm sure he applied for the job before we appointed Butcher The Spanish applicant is rumoured to be Antonio Tapia and as for the Italian applicant then who knows!
  12. Looks like what Ritchie has been saying is pretty well covered in this article: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24924203
  13. This quote from a Hearts fan on another forum doesn't fill me with confidence:
  14. Its is bizarre to compare club football management to international management. Did Levein ever use the 4-6-0 formation when he managed Scottish clubs? Not that i can remember IIRC his formations weren't too dissimilar to Butchers and a rather startling comparison is that Craig Leveins win ratio at Scotland was 41.67%. Terry Butchers win ratio at this club was 41.55% It was widely agreed that Leveins spell in charge of Scotland was not successful but that does not automatically mean that it would be the same at club level. Out of the candidates listed so far i still maintain that he is a strong one
  15. There's been a few interesting/scary additions to the candidate list according to one of the online bookmakers. Henning Berg 40/1 John McGlynn 66/1 Ossie Ardiles 66/1 Craig Burley 40/1 David Weir 33/1 Alex McLeish 33/1 Paul Sturrock 25/1 Favourite is still Levein at 2/1 with Foran at 3/1 and Hartley/Shiels at 8/1
  16. Just been announced that he has signed a deal until 2016 http://ictfc.com/news/club-news/1096-caley-jags-make-brill-signing Says a lot for this club when players are willing to sign without a manager
  17. Dream team of Levein as boss, Hartley as assistant manager and Alexander as First team Coach and penalty taker?
  18. How could I forget Foran, definitely one of his best signings. One of a diminishing group of players in the game today that would and probably could run through a brick wall for the team
  19. Terry and Mo have been huge successes here and have brought me some of my best memories as an ICT fan. They have transformed this club into a real force in Scotland and that will never ever be forgotten. They have taken this club to its peak in our short history and given the resources they have had available it is a huge achievement and one which is truly remarkable. Whilst I have huge gratitude for what Terry and Mo have done for this club the way they have left has left a bit of a sour taste. He rejected Barnsley as he loved it up North and felt he had unfinished business up here. Well i'm sure in less than a year the Highlands haven't changed that much for him to feel he wanted to move away. Likewise if he felt he unfinished business back then then i would say that is the case now more than ever. We are in the semi-final of the cup and sitting in second position so to leave now blows that notion out of the water. This could potentially be ICTs best ever season and he has seen fit to jump ship for, IMO, a lesser job than he could have secured if he had seen the season out. This parting of the ways has seen ICT come off the better IMO in that we are in a very strong position on the field and have the chance now to recruit a management team to carry on the good work Terry and Mo started. Looking at Terry and Mo's prospects then they have one heck of a job to turn around that club and given the impatience of the board at Hibs then i cant honestly see them getting that long to turn it around. Its a strange feeling i have today, disappointed to have lost Terry and Mo but optimistic for what lies ahead. To coin a cliche but one which is very applicable, onwards and upwards
  20. Best: Mckay, Hayes, A Shinnie, Warren Worst; Gnapka, Blumenshtein, not signing GMS
  21. I can see why Kevin Macdonald would be a popular choice but have to say I am very surprised at the calls for Henrik Larsson. He was no doubt an extraordinary football player but his managerial career to date doesn't look great at all and he has no experience of managing in Scotland or the UK for that matter. His preferred formation of an attacking 4-3-3 sounds great on paper but can anyone remember the last time a team in Scotland did well with that sort of formation? Personally I think it would be a disaster in the SPL I think every fan wants their team to play attractive passing football but for me the priority every season is maintaining top league football, and top six is a bonus. That should always come first before style Jimmy Calderwood would have us turn into the new Ross County with multiple dutch signings and I cant say that he interests me as a potential boss
  22. Like a few others i wouldnt be adverse to Craig Levein. Would be interesting to see if he would take Houston with him should he come. Levein's reputation has been soured by a poor international stint but he still managed a 41% win rate which should be sniffed at. Many good managers fail on an international stage yet excel at club level. He has a good track record in the SPL and despite his somewhat defensive approach at times i think he would bring a strong defensive platform to build on. A lot better than some of the names being banded about
  23. Levein is 1/2 favourite according to one online bookmaker
  24. So Steve Marsella was asked an unknown question and responded with "he's not leaving" and its construed somehow that Marsella is staying at the club? Seems very strange to me. think too much is being made of unclear twits tweets The most likely question to prompt that answer is: Is terry leaving the stadium just now?
  25. John Collins anyone?
