  1. ...especially since he slips just before the ball reaches him.
  2. 3 out of 42? Pathetic!
  3. You'll recognise that as a great example of intermittent reinforcement - the most powerful conditioning method in psychology 🤩
  4. Correct me if I am wrong, but I can't remember Ridgers having to make one save, all night. He cut out a cross or corner or two, but otherwise had a quiet night. We are still a work in progress, but that was certainly the best I've seen them play this season.
  5. We could win this by kicking their stock of balls out of the ground. Shooting is terrible, and not just in this game.
  6. Aye - presumably Queensbury Rules will apply. Chance for Scott Allan to establish himself as an ICT legend, in just one game?
  7. I have to say that I was not convinced. I saw a lot of running around which gave an appearance of sharpness, together with a few displays of petulance and dissent when decisions went against him. Not sure if that is what he is usually like, or if he was trying to show his new teammates that he was fully committed. Considering that he woke up in Edinburgh that morning, and that everything happened so quickly, then his first 35 minutes was too soon to tell anything. But of course I hope he goes on to be a great success!
  8. Moi aussi. Was surprised and a bit concerned that we had a Tuesday game before the Friday cup-tie!
  9. Could we not have got the Buckie commentator on loan until the end of the season?
  10. Hopefully as a sub who is brought on when the game has been safely won. I know we often look like 11 players each doing their own thing, but the chaos that could be caused by a "creative midfielder" who hasn't played with the others doesn't bear thinking about. Having said that, best of luck to him, and hope it works out for all concerned.
  11. You know that feeling that you get near the end of a Scotland match - football, rugby, whatever - when you know that they are about to blow it? The strangest thing happened last night - I got the exact opposite feeling! Even though Russell had been sent off and Scotland were behind, I had the oddest premonition that this would be the one time when everything worked, and we would win. Then France had a man sin-binned, Dulin stupidly decided not to kick into touch to end it all, and the rest is history... And if I was ever in a scrap and could pick someone to be on my side, I'd pick Hamish Watson. Incredible drive, power, wriggle ability, and always, always at the heart of the action.
  12. He's from the minimalist school of commentating. Barely alive, and nae excitement.
  13. Aye, but it was a guy playing full back who was the only one who could score
  14. So it is. Still never heard it before In my defence, I offer you this from https://www.football365.com/news/programme-of-the-week-bbc-radio-scotlands-off-the-ball "Stuart comments that Tam is always using the expression about things that “absolutely rip yer mitten”. I have yet to find out what “rip yer mitten” actually means but I don’t care. It’s a great expression and anyone who says it’s not really rips my mitten."
  15. I have sometimes wondered if it is similar to me when I used to play golf 😀 When I was having a bad round, chances are I would do best - par or birdie - on the hardest holes on the course, and screw up the easier ones. My wife is no sports coach or golfer, but when I said this to her, she had an immediate suggestion - "you must concentrate better on the hard holes". Something similar could well be going on with the team. Very pleased with the win. Couldn't believe the first ten minutes or so - we came right out of the blocks with attitude and pinned them back, setting the scene for the rest of the match. As so often, 10 men were hard to beat - maybe it's that concentration thing again, with the 10 men putting in a little extra. Once again we can thank Mark Ridgers for keeping us alive. I have just looked at the BBC stats, and am surprised to see that the shooting stats are about even - I though that Raith had more scoring chances than we did. We still couldn't score in a brothel. And finally, I learned a new expression - "that rips my mitten". The only other reference to it that I can find is that one of the presenters on "Off The Ball" uses it a lot, and so I've never heard it down here in Englandshire. Sounds useful, and I assume it's not rude, otherwise they wouldn't have been saying it!
  16. We are sitting back too much. Can't do that for 35 minutes. Need another goal.
  17. I once saw Black Uhuru playing at Wembley Stadium. Wasn't footbal though 😉
  18. It was a good game between two well-matched sides, and the draw was a fair result. After the previous performances, I actually enjoyed some of it, although for the last 10 minutes or so, I was praying that we didn't concede a goal, because there would have been no way back. Carson deserved to be MOTM, although I do wish he would learn to manage his temper better. On another night he could have been booked for having a go at Kennedy for throwing himself to the ground. Which would have made his mood worse, and then you have to decide whether to risk leaving him on. I agreed with the no subs. The team was doing fine, and the game was on a knife edge, so it would have have been risky to disrupt the team. Maybe Storey, if he had been available, for Mackay, but certainly no disruption to the defence. I think I am actually looking forward to Tuesday night. It's been a long time since I could say that.

Being over 500 miles away from Inverness, obviously I've seen more of ICT this season - home and away - than in any previous season. Even though much of it has been very painful, I'd like it to continue. As Satan (our one!) said, football clubs are for life. I've been half-thinking about how it could be done without affecting the number of people actually going to the games, but I haven't been able to come up with anything. If it was available to everyone, how many would turn up on a freezing afternoon in February, if they could watch it from home? One idea would be to make streaming available only to people who are more than, say, 50 miles away from the ground. But there is no way to check that that is both easy and cheap. If anyone has any ideas, we should discuss them, and then see if the club would be willing to discuss with the SPFL. We won't be the only ones - I am sure that football fans up and down the UK will be thinking the same thing.
  20. Why have we gone back to the automatic camera? It is dreadful.
