    Job Hunting

At the moment, I would avoid working in Nigeria. Although not always reported, there are incidents almost daily of people being held at gunpoint, being shot at and being kidnapped. Infact, I think that there is at least 3 brits, and 5 others currently being held for ransom - all through the oil industry. And in the last week there was a report that Nigerian oil kills about 1000 a year. The rest of West Africa is slightly better, obviously it isn't 100% safe but it is better then Nigeria. Pretty much all the companies I am working with at the moment tend to fly people in through Cameroon to work in Nigeria. That tells you all you need to know. I did see a few vacancies to do with Enviromental work, but cannot remember where. They were all offshore positions. To be honest, from speaking to a few different Oil Companies, they are all shutting down production on the majority of their platforms - or planning to shut down production when the current leases run out - so it might not be the best time to go into it. Everyone seems to be struggling at the moment, so all you have to do is sit tight. Remember, it is easier to get a job if you are already in a job.
  3. My view, as someone who claims back expenses themselves, is much the same as to Don's. The guidelines are there, and if we can manipulate them in order to earn a bit of extra cash then I am going to do so. However, that is not to say that what I think the Mps are doing is wrong - it is and I was quite sickened by it. But the rules are laid down there, and they have been changed and modified so that these people can do this. As has been previously iterated, when the country was in sound financial health nothing was rarely said regarding expenses. MP Pay was a different matter, and I remember that there was always some sort of uproar regarding the fact that the MPs get to decide a pay increase themselves every year. What the MPs get paid is ridiculous and increases the amount of people who decide to become an MP for the salary rather then for what it should be. However, on the other side, this is not the first time that expenses have been out in the public eye. I am sure that Henry McLeish was forced out of office due to his expenses. I also seem to remember that there was a big thing here in Scotland regarding Taxi Expenses that caused quite a stir. Everyone, at one time or the other, tries to play the system. And if you can find a way that benefits yourself then you have won, and that is the principle that we have been taught in this great capitalist world.
  4. I notice that all topics in the forum are locked, and that I cannot post a new one. After having a look around I cannot seem to see any announcement on this matter. Am I to take this to mean that his has stopped and the club, after briefly starting it, has decided that they do not wish to continue this feature? If so, what a great shame, and increases my contempt for the current board.
  5. I left at 80 mins when it was 6 to Rangers. The boys didn't play very well, and it didn't help that they lost the keeper after half an hour, and the keeper that replaced him was...to put it blunty... awful. Though in one way it was nice to see so many people show up, but it seems that Rangers take their ***** to the youth games as well - including a kid who must have been no older then 7 joining in with all the songs, and not the good ones either. Though the linesman on the dug out side was the largest linesman I have seen in the game. He could not keep up with the play at all. They had a few moments towards the end of the game (just as I was leaving) obviously as Rangers started changing things and messing about. But in the end, the Rangers team was just better and stronger. Their number 3 I think, was giving the right back a terrible time, and both of Rangers wingers were far far quicker then our wing backs. In the end, the right team won.
  6. no my contract with the bbc means i am unfortunatly unable to attend so i will be covering the county v dundee game but my best wishes go to the players and the coaches and i hope they continue to the final with an old firm double That is a shame. I am quite looking forward to it, and with a lot of the Rangers team out on loan to other clubs (including I think Fleck) then they have a real chance. Hopefully there will be a good crowd for it as well, especially the ICT lot. Another question: What do you think about the MLS?
  7. Will you be at Ibrox tomorrow to cheer on the youth team that you are so glowing about?
  8. I can confirm that it will be ?4. Entry is via Turnstile 46 and 47, and it is only cash that is accepted. I will be going with a +1 probably. If anyone is interested we could have a pre-match swallow somewhere?
  9. Contrary to my above post I will be there. I mixed the weekendsup
  10. Ahh damn. Clashes with the Rugby and also my dinner plans. Bummer
  11. Personally I think that the Home Stand should be renamed the Bridge End. The away end should be renamed after a stalwart of ICT.
  12. Close. Angola. They have much in common.
  13. Feck me, I go away to no mans land for 5 weeks and miss all this! Bugger
  14. These two couldn't keep up an erection in a brothel... Could you?
  15. Maybe the club has no intention of interviewing Robbo?
  16. It's being discussed in other places. Looks like the Herald is wrong, as Robbo said in commentary yesterday that hehas not been approached for an interview.
  17. Not Glasgow Joe. Lanark. Some 28 miles south of Glasgow. Would you say someone from Forres was an Invernessian? No, but I agree that I'd call someone from Lanark a Weegie! Really? Why? I don't consider myself an Invernessian and I am from Forres, nor do I consider myself a Weegie and I was born in Lanark. I also don't think my Mums side of family consider themselves Weegies seeing as they are all from the Lanark / Carluke area.
  18. If this was Munro's fault, then I suggest that it was probably the inexperience of those in charge who were at fault. Just attempting to gaffer tape over a problem.
  19. Does anyone know who was interviewed yesterday?
  20. Waiting for a bus to go to Braehead.
  21. Sky Sports news said that he is on loan until the end of the season.
  22. I would like to be the next manager. My Assistant would be IHE, he would also double as the team psychologist. I would re-hire Brew as the fitness coach, and approach Barry to work with the younger lads and be the reserve team manager, as well as joining me and IHE in the dug-out.
