  1. Did I hear that Hearts are playing Kilmarnock on Monday instead of Saturday? If that's the case, if we beat Falkirk we go 3rd. For a few hours anyway. Not a bad way to finish the 1st quarter! :003:
  2. Too early??? ****, we're already there!!! :003:
  3. Yup - they finally done it. Hallelujah!! Sadly, nobody noticed. Once again they were overshadowed by their SPL neighbours' greater achievement on the same day! I hope this is their turning point at last, and that they'll make a decent go at a play-off place. Still attainable and very much in their own hands. Now THAT would be an achievement worthy of note.
  4. Brilliant result! For once I can't wait to get to work on Monday and get it right up my Rangers-supporting colleagues, many of whom will doubtless be throwing sickies. Support your local team - that's my advice to them! :015: :015: :015: :015: :015:
  5. No no no! It's "Caley, clap clap clap". Just once, you see. Can't handle the lyrics, indeed!! :015:
  6. Welcome back clacher_holiday2 - where ya been?
  7. Another quote from reefinweedallday: "He cost us the Second Division Title at Livingston" But we're not in the Second Division anymore, and haven't been for some years! We've moved on! Perhaps some of us should do likewise.
  8. Dunno about the Poles and Lithuanians, but agree that schools should be targetted - these young folk are hopefully the future supporters of the club. Sadly, the Aberdeen, Rangers and Celtic supporting older gits will probably never change - a throwback to the days when Inverness could not offer senior football and people had to look elsewhere. I live in the north-west of Scotland and, interestingly, folk here tend to identify with the west rather than the north, opting to follow the Glasgow teams rather than the Highland teams, despite the fact that Inverness and Dingwall are much closer. Ross County often do coaching sessions here, especially during the summer, but as far as I know, ICT don't. Maybe they should, and try to bring the team to the whole Highlands, rather than just Inverness. ****, even Celtic and Rangers do coaching session here, why can't our LOCAL spl team?
  9. Told you it was an entertaining game! Just depends on the tint of the spectacles you watch it through. :006:
  10. Unfortunately there are those who just don't like Richard Hastings and they will, consequently, refuse to be swayed by the evidence of their own eyes.
  11. Hi alanb and welcome. I think I knew your brother. Does he run adventure holidays in the Scottish borders? I remember a Neil Butterworth in the IRA and there can't be many of them around. Incidentally, does anyone here cringe at the mention of a "Butterworth Machine"?? And, alanb, are your ancestors guilty of such an invention? Shouldn't this be on "Anything goes" . . . . . ?
  12. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! (Played 9 Lost 9 - Nil points)
  13. I'm just wondering if I was at the same game as everyone else - I actually found it a very entertaining match, especially the last 20 minutes or so when we piled on the pressure and always looked likely to score. Of course everyone else was asleep by then! :006:
  14. Yes, Dunfermline have always been good to us. Let's hope their generosity continues today.
  15. Feel I've gotta gloat a bit here - when he returned to the club, mine was a solitary voice predicting great things ahead for Richard. I'm not often right, but . . . . Perhaps I saw a bit of potential there - I was certainly impressed with his consistent solid performances in his previous spell and was glad to see that when he finally got his chance 2nd time round, he took it. Great to see he's finally being recognized for the extremely competent player he is and lets hope he doesn't go seeking pastures new again. Who knows - maybe a Scotland call-up is just around the corner! Hmmm. . . no, that wouldn't work, would it? :clapping04:
  16. That's eight consecutive league defeats now and only a result against the mighty Arbroath this week will prevent a 1st quarter white-wash! Doesn't look too good for our EX-rivals. Oh dear! (And yet I find myself hoping that, against all the odds, they manage to scrape at least a draw.) :015:
  17. NO And I differ in that I think this is an OK thread as it gives us the opportunity to show we're more or less unanimous!
  18. It's a vicious circle - the team can't win at home, less people go to see them because people like to see their team winning - low turnout doesn't exactly inspire the team to victory. Supporters only do what is natural to them so the onus is on the team to start drawing the crowds. Time to work on these tactics!
  19. Can't agree with you there, DJS - they very nearly achieved promotion last season! Mind you, they're redefining sh!te this time round. That's 7 games, nil points now. Oh dear!

    Gretna

Most teams are all about the area they represent. It's a tribal thing, and I'm part of the Inverness Caledonian Thistle tribe. Gretna, however, is all about Miles Brookson and his millions. The Gretna tribe, such as it is, is probably outnumbered by the team! And, yes, I'm a wee bit jealous of their having a sugar daddy with loads of cash to give away

I, for two, was similarly pleased! :003:
  22. I find myself strangely saddened to see our once great rivals (I speak as a mortal Howden Ender of old) propping up the rest of Scottish football. Nil points from 6 games - quite tragic really. I remember being in awe of an Elgin City team who swept all opposition aside back in the 60s, and who became the only non-league team ever to reach the Scottish Cup quarter-finals. Matches against City always had an extra edge - more so than against County or Thistle, as I recall. I genuinely hope they get themselves sorted out and achieve their rightful place - fighting against Ross County to avoid relegation from Division 1!

    Gretna

Ha! Have they finally been found out? Has the "fear factor" gone? I'm sorry, but I just don't like Gretna. I was even supporting Ross County against them recently. Believe me, that really shows how much I detest them! (Historical note: Gretna 0, Dundee 4 - today)
