While I certainly don't want to lose Rankin, I agree that it's the one position we're well covered for. Vigurs does indeed, look an outstanding prospect, and I'd love to see him given more of a chance. Besides, there's Barry, Markus, McBain, Hart......all more than capable of compensating for the loss of Rankin. Apart from Wilson how many of those players have a history of scoring goals though? Okay all Rankin's goals have been from the spot this season but he is always a threat. Hart is not up to standard IMO... I think Paatelainen has the potential to be a more prolific scorer than Rankin. He got 2 in 5 starts last season

Stumbled across this fact whilst looking at last seasons top scorers in the SPL. Only 5 midfielders managed to score 6 or more league goals :- Nakamura, Gravesen, Charlie Adam, Barry Robson and JOHN RANKIN (no pens) I know ther's no' much we can do, but he's certainly going to be a loss !

From an extremely selfish point of view, I'm actually happy they finished at 3. I've got a good chance of Easter Road next week and therefore be able to witness the goal for myself. :003:

I agree with TM4TJ in the respect that there is too much gossip on this one, kind of looks like he'll be offski. It'll be a shame if it's true, I like Rankin, I think he's slotted into the ICT set-up fairly well. I certainly don't think we can afford to let him go without a fight. Having said that though, I've always felt he's lacking in something, I cannae quite put my finger on it, wether it's pace or power I'm not sure. :024: I would stress though I'd be delighted if I heard he was staying.

I wasn't at the game but correct me if I'm wrong, ICT we're told, are playing 4-5-1 with Bayne up front on his own. Well having just watched the very brief highlights, it looked to me that we definately played 4-4-2, Niculae most certainly looked to be very much up front.

The papers I read today were complimentry to ICT, generally stating, again, that we were unlucky. I just wondering, you know how you remark words to the effect that some of your fellow members are seeing things through their "CC protection society" viewpoint and unable to offer an unbiased slant. I agree with you. That's all three games between our sides that I have seen this year, and you're right - Killie essentially have got the breaks. ICT should have won at Rugby Park back in September, and the reason why they didn't escapes me. We were lucky. The game at Inverness - well 4-3 what can you say? What a game, and again we were lucky. Same thing yesterday - I thought ICT eventually ran out of time and had Killie camped in their own half at the end. Our two teams always give us exciting matches when they meet. Killie have pipped it this season. You'll get your turn over us, I'm sure of it. That's football. Good luck for the rest of the season. Cheers for the honest assesment Warwickboy.
